LOL.. Sorry like I said I couldn't resist after DS's comment.

Besides we saw SweetSues comment about you jumping off the cliff like a kid at Christmas, so like me your young at heart. That's all that really matters!

Ya...the cliff!!! The guy at the jump off point made me and Nate jump off the lower perch first....he didn't know we are old experts...:slide:..the high jump was fun...like always. What a hoot we had!:high-five:

Have any idea how high that cliff is?

I ask because as a kid in Florida, the US diving team would practice at a local pool and sometimes they would let us jump off the 5 and 10 meter platforms.

Curious if or how much run through you guys do when you top water your plants in HB soil? I been watering mine just till there is a wee bit of drainage then stopping. Has anyone ever checked the PH of the run off or PPM just out of curiosity?

It doesn't hurt to see what the plant is doing I like to check ppm. But I think in soil ph is more issue? Hmm

Nope...no need to check run off! Have absolutely no idea what the PH of the run off water would be....doesn't matter ...one bit..it, the PH will always be within proper range...the microbial population sees to it. They do a very , very good job with controlling and maintaining it!
With watering pots or containers...after the water starts to come out the bottom,..this is NOT all the container will absorb. When the run off water will no longer wick back up inside the pot...this is the capacity of that particular pot. Use that knowledge when giving drinks , Drenches etc. Sometimes watering over several min's. , instead of dumping it in , all at once helps the soil equalize and enables you to give a bit more . Cheers eh!

I've learned that myself instead of pouring it pour let it eat it up you can hear it in coco like bubbles popping. And absorbing then after few minutes more I wang to see my pot wet uoakl from bottom to top I've learned let dry out enough bang all over again .

Not that there is anything wrong, just thinking I guy may be able to use it as a base line down the road. I bet it changes a lot based on what we are putting in the water. Does each go up or down if we give GE or Transplant or CAT or just tea. I think what runs out would be more based on what was feed the last time not the current time.

Hey , mornin to ya Meds! Nope....the PH of the soil in the pot will NOT change by giving different Drenches ! PH in our DBHBB soil will always be between 6.5 -7!
Doc has gone thru all this in the past and has mentioned that to change the PH in our soil you would have to go to extremes over an extended period to alter the PH in our soil. It is very , very stable and does NOT need any attention or concern. cheers eh!

Soil pH in HB soil is 6.4. Nothing short of bleach or pool acid will change that, especially in a large pot.

Please abandon folklore and mythology.....it will help you progress as a cultivator.

I got one of them 1 gal pump sprayers for fruit trees, bought new just to water plants. It takes about 10-15 min to water one pot, have to refill it once as it only holds a gallon. Yes there are more efficient ways to water I am sure. We enjoy taking care of the ladies and it gives us more time with them. All the smaller containers get dunked, just the bit 10's that get the sprayer.

See for me I don't run off per say as I put about 1/2 gallon of water in saucer that plant sits in then water the other gallon of water from the top. There normally a bit a of water left in tray but within a hour the plants wicks it up.
I haven't touch a ph or Ppm tester since starting in organics. And don't look forward to it once my rdwc system is setup

Thats just about the way I also water, Some in the tray rest slow drip down the top, whats left in the tray gets wicked up
within an hour after finishing.

As per the PH Ppm I still check and record because thats what I DO

What's is your ph typically just to know. I wouldn't expect anything else from you gazoo but to have checked everything.
