Dark Matter, Red Sky, Chunky Cherry Thai, BP Skunk In LOS

I would agree with you, I used to check plants outside(Many years ago with a pocket scope) and they Amber up early even when they clearly aren't ready Visually. I go by what the plant tells me these days, and you are right Shed... they slow down drinking and change gears. My days of Outdoor unfortunately are Over... enjoyed Many seasons outside, but it had to come to an end Sometime. All the Best of Luck Outdoor Growers.

If she is normally a 10 week(er) indoors, don't be surprised when it's 9 weeks and she's done. 3 to 3.5 weeks and she's Finished No doubt. You lose a minute each day outside, and I find(many seasons) they ripen faster than Indoor plants(7-10 days faster, I used to:( grow 8-9 week plants outside and done late September EARLY October), unless you are doing other Far Red manipulation to mimic what happens naturally Outside. Your plant is On track... Good Vibes.. to the Tribe. :Namaste:
Nice to hear Johnnie! Fatter by the day!

Are you harvesting your outside plants by trichome color or based on testers? I ask because I have learned that amber outside doesn't have the same meaning as it does in a tent because of the sun, so a plant that seems ready to harvest earlier outside (by color) may not be really ready yet.

This has come up a lot lately (since we're now in Fall), so here is a post I made recently:

It's not so much that trichome color generally may not be as accurate outside as much as it is that amber may not be the best gauge outside.

@Amy Gardner always told me that outside amber isn't like tent amber because of the impact of the sun on trichomes, and @BeezLuiz discovered that harvesting based on the standard tent-based reading of amber left him with very low THC numbers and zero CBN. Here are his tests results.

So we are harvesting later than we have in the past to see how that goes. I've taken to letting the plant tell me when it's done, including when the smell changes and it starts drinking much more slowly, in addition to the number of cloudy/clear trichomes.
So that said, the Frenchy Cannoli vids I've watched where he says going well into amber for highest thc production finally makes sense! It's the sun!

With a number of outdoor grows in the past I never used a loop to check trichomes as in the indoor grows. My chop was always dictated by the weather here in the Pacific Northwest. RAIN!
Hey Nev, that could very well be here too. We can get anything in the way of weather after September. Usually just wet and cold, sometimes icy around the middle of October on.

Nice purps there Verbalist! Stankberries was odd to see one branch here and there only. If she makes it, she should have purple bud all over like her mom. Here's the mother of the one growing now.

Guess you can't see the purple, but the jarred bud is very much purp. Day 65 from flip.
Hard to tell if the buds look purp

Hey SO :ciao: Your Stankberry continues to look fantastic! :bravo:
So she a 9 week plant indoors. It looks about 6 weeks along to me now.
I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but looking at your pictures, I'm thinking you may be harvesting on Halloween... if you're lucky. Let's hope I'm wrong. :nervous-guy:

Interesting. In my experience (California weather) I've found the opposite to be true. My outdoor plants have never ripened close to the breeder's indoor estimates. Always at least 2 weeks longer - especially if they are sativa dominant varieties. Last year, for my Killer Haze, I finished harvesting November 4th, and I'm pretty sure I took it 2 weeks too early.

I know Beez. They need to get in gear! I have to go to Van Stanks journal and see when he cut his. I'm willing to go with the weather all the way!

I had a Blue Dream Plant years ago GO until Halloween(could of went longer, But I was over it) and it's the reason I used to grow 8-9 week strains. Get em' out of there as quickly as possible, Nothing later than the middle of Oct (CA). Especially when Rippers are out Prowlin' looking for ducks on the pond.

END OF LIFE TIMING UPDATE

Hi, so looking to timing the end I found @Van Stank Stanks journal talking the beginning of October. The pic is the lad himself (allegedly)and his ladies on a what looks like a sunny day. That pic is posted October 4. This is a different seed so things may be different but hopefully I don't have to look too far beyond that. We will see!

"The DTF in the 19 gallon pot and the Stankberry in the 19 gallon pot both came in at 14 zips each..DTF on the left, Stankberry on the right."

I think your plant is bigger than this one.

The picture looks as though his plants are what I called field trimmed and ready to come down. Oct. 4th is getting extremely close and I hope you have good weather past that date.
Weather here has been in the 80’s the last few days but rain starts 1st of the week and it becomes a guessing game of predicting the weather on when to take them down as the wet days start edging out the sunny days. You really have to start keeping yours eyes open for bud rot.

Mine isn't as ripe as his I'm pretty sure. This one's going to need more time. Weather still on the bright side and I expect at least a couple of more weeks of fair weather, maybe more. I'm snipping away bud rot every day. Not too much, probably 2 or 3 snips. Ok at this rate but I hope it doesn't ramp up.

Highya SO,

We had 3.5 in. of rain last night, with blustery winds. Took down one of my Apollo 13s. Left a 3 foot stump this morning. No way to lash it together. So I dried a chunk in the toaster, and smoked a couple bowls. I decided it was worth trimming bigger chunks, so half today and half tomorrow. Meanwhile, the 5 left are leaning without breaking so far. Only had a couple places with budrot, also. I cut the CBD lady down a few days ago and takes half of the drying room. The A13 wants the whole room!! So, if any more come down tonight, I'll need to makeshift a drying area. I wanted to take them down at my will to avoid overcrowding the drying room!! Oh, well. We get what we get. Good reason to plant as many ladies as we can legally. Just never know!
Didyou not get the rain and winds? I'm guessing your Stankberry kady is still fine?!? Happy Smokin'

We had your weather yesterday, too, Bode. Sorry to hear you had so much damage. Our plants are in pots so they all spent the day under the gazebo.
