Dark Devil Auto: A Community Grow Record

Really? Thats not what the breeder says. That is sort of exciting to hear because I'm ready to get growing. Should I put them in the ground, then?

I'm a dwc grower. It runs longer than soil. Still yet, breeder times are usually optimistic.

Wow! A lot of catching up to do. :laughtwo: I'll try to do that later. Welcome to all the newcomers. :welcome: You're in for a real treat.

Stoney...... dang buckaroo. She looks beautiful I could almost smell her from here. :high-five:

I'm dropping off pictures of the girls. They're at Day 26. Although DDA7 is obviously smaller after the topping she looks like she's gonna catch up. One can hope.

They got their first energy drench today.

I'm loving all the excitement over here. We keep adding on new passengers to this happy bus. :laughtwo:

Hi,

Thanks for the advice,

Wow, topping day 12? 6 oz each? WOW! We will see. I'll look into the fabric pots...

If I went with the pots, what final size might you recommend?

I'd recommend five gallons. That's actually the optimal size pot for an auto, IMO. I've tried larger and haven't seen any gain in the increased soil volume to yield. It just takes up more space and resources.

Ok kids I'm back for yet another round of The Devils.... I just put like 15 seeds into some water/H2o2 mix then in the AM its into soil .... This is my usual spring run I usually do a crap ton of these for my summer time stash! Maybe I'm a little early yet .... 70 days usual for me, lets see what I can do.

I have yet to grow an AUTO plant worth talking about.

wish me luck, I'm going to need it.

:woohoo: BB's starting the new spring batch of DDAs. :slide: I watch your massive grows with envy. You say you don't grow good autos, but what you grow in DDAs kicks butt over everything else, doesn't it? :cheesygrinsmiley: Someday I'll get you to try Carnival. :battingeyelashes:

Gonna need some help along the way.
First question, what has shown better results, straight to soil, cup of water, or paper towel method?

We'll be right here to help you TRA3GO. :cheesygrinsmiley: I have the best luck with DDAs planting directly into soil. With autos you want as little disturbance as possible.

Way to set the bar :D

Indeed. :bravo:

Nicest DD ive seen yet.

Ahhhh..... But it's Kushtie's that we're all chasing, isn't it? :laughtwo: He got us all excited with all that sap dripping all over the place.

Five gallon dwc bubble buckets. :) Lazy Grower Style, I just make sure they don't run dry or catch fire.

   I laugh out loud every time I read this.

Sorry to run n gun, but I've been really busy! This is DDA3, took her outside to grab a quick photo in the sun before chopping. Cheers all!

OMG Stoney...... What a beauty. How much do you estimate on the harvest?

A little update Day 7 from popping her head out of they soil !!!! She is growing very quickly now last night when I put her and her sisters to bed for the night she hadn't really grown much that I could tell then this morn. When I turned the lights on there she was all proud and standing at attention I noticed she had grown over night!!! Not much but enough to tell!!! Well good luck to everyone enjoy them while they are young !!!! Cause they grow up so quickly!!!! Lol Live-Love-Learn

Welcome little one. :battingeyelashes:  She's looking really good LTS. :high-five: The DDAs go through a spell of root development that looks like they aren't doing anything at all. It stresses every one of us at one time or another. After a couple runs with the strain you get used to the rhythm.

I think you might want to start them sooner. The earliest I've had one finish was 84 days, and as long as 98 days from sprout.

I agree. I've had them go as long as 90 days in soil.

Welcome little one. :battingeyelashes:  How exciting, two new ones to greet at the same time. :slide: Welcome to the family TRA3GO. :hugs:

Day 10 of Veg . Now when I say of Veg I mean the day it opened up and stuck it's little head out of the soil. If we are talking from seed through Germination they from seed it's Day 13
Now this is what I go by when I count the days. Then once Flowering starts I usually start counting the days from first site of pistils. Not the day I flip to 12/12 cause some plants show within 24hrs some can take up to 2 weeks or longer to show . Sorry to bore everyone but I had to get it out some people just confuse the shit out of me with the way they count days it's just a basic guide to go by it's not exact estimated Flowering times for Autos or Photos is Estimated or around. Just go by your trichomes and you can never go wrong !! Live-Love-Learn

I absolutely love that planter. I count my days the same way you do. Makes more sense to me.

May order some Dark Devil auto seeds today

I'm subbed....Can't wait to watch the show

Get that order in Stav. :battingeyelashes: You won't regret it. Best buzz I've found so far. Well....the Carnival is a close, close second. More like a tie, but with a different effect. The Devils are more racey than Carnival. The Dark Devil Autos are by far the most beautiful. One grows fond of dark buds in the bowl. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Really? Thats not what the breeder says. That is sort of exciting to hear because I'm ready to get growing. Should I put them in the ground, then?

If it were me, yes. The sooner the better. Stoney might be able to give you a better idea of how long they take outdoors.

I'm a dwc grower. It runs longer than soil. Still yet, breeder times are usually optimistic.

Arent they always?

I forgot to mention on my earlier post, DDA6 has begun her flowering stage. DDA7 will likely be about a week behind in development.

All caught up now. Thank you guys for holding down the fort. My life is about to get even busier for a while. I'll do my best to stay up to date. You guys make me feel so proud.

I still think I got lucky with that sweaty one Sue......both in terms of how it smoked and yielded but my next one wasn't as good. I'm still chasing that result too!

Did you see the nug shots I took in the woods the other day? That's what I want DDA for......I want to get high on DDA and see how surreal things get on my woodland wanders again but this time with a camera :hippy:

I've tried searching back through this thread and can't really find much on topping DD. Is this due to the short veg stage that no one tops them? Or am I missing something?

It's not impossible to top a dda, or any other auto for that matter. Sue has a baby one she has topped recently, certainly within the last 25 posts or so in this thread.

Edit: post # 1602 Sue has a photo and mentions topping her dda.

Not too sure how I missed that. I just didn't know if there was a reason most didn't do it? I definitely feel as if it would help even out the canopy and make LST a little easier. But with such a short veg period, is it worth the stress?

They don't seem to mind the slight pause while they adapt. I'm limited vertically in grow space, so topping is almost required. :laughtwo: I've pulled better than 4 ounces off a topped DDA in soil. I wouldn't hesitate to top one.

She looks very happy. :battingeyelashes:  Will this be her finish pot? I'll be interested in the yield in a 2.5 gallon.

Yes this is her last and final home. Why is 2.5 gallons to small should I get bigger?

Sent from my iPhone using 420 Magazine

As a rule, autos do best in a five gallon minimum. I've learned that in my own garden 5 gallon pots are my choice for the DDAs.

Thanks Sue. I hope to have you around for the process . . Just getting 2 oz off of one would surpass my hopes.

I'll be in and out. There're plenty of rather souls about to assist you.

They love to stack nodes tightly don't they? :)

Yes they do Luke. I've had only one that started lanky. I buried her stalk and she settled down. Come to think of it, she was my biggest yielded. :hmmmm:
