Dark Devil Auto: A Community Grow Record

Awesome rifleman, will you self cross or something else......

I'm just going to cross them back to the same strain right now to keep from buying more seeds. Once I find a couple of strains I really like, I'll try crossing them.

Hey, all!

Here's a wee update:

My Dark Devil is going long -- I have to leave today for a few days on business so won't be able to chop her until I get back. That's fine by me -- she's barely got any amber and I want a bit more. She's at 12 weeks today and looking pretty battered:

Looking battered, nah... that's the way good bud is supposed to look like going down the back stretch. What's happening is the plant in a last ditch effort to reproduce, is trans-locating stored energy and minerals from those old fan leaves to the flowers in hopes she will need that energy to produce seed. So a plant that looks like that for me is for sure healthy and growing as expected. Looks GREAT to me. Just leave the leaves fall off naturally. Makes for a real easy trim, which follows my growing style..less (work) is best.

Yes ma'am glimmer yer killing it. I just put a plant 1/4 that size in a jar last night - looked just like that at chop. I wouldn't worry too much about trichome color with this strain. If you wait till there's amber, you're going to have knock out non-work day meds. Trust me on that I've got a few jars of this strain that I cannot smoke on a work night. Lord knows I've tried... lots of times. Tonight is Saturday night so... BOOM .. gonna roll up a big purple fatty and when I wake up in the am I will be just as medicated as I was when I went to bed.

I actually prefer it a bit on the early side - I get raced up and my body gets numb and tingles .. whats not to like there, eh? It I let it go longer I'm down in the couch for the next day. I have to really motivate myself to get going (why I say non-work night) ... at the end of the day = it's all good really. I've called in sick with this so take that for what its worth. hahahaha... always looking for a good reason to call out ... last time which was last week it was what I called a "mental health day" ... :thumb:

Weather forecast was: foggy followed by extreme fogginess = mental health day. All I wanted to do was R E L A X and mellow out and feel really really good for like 24 hrs.
So my point is... I think yer there... get the nippers out, look her straight in the buds and if you see any new pistols, slowly step back away from the plant. If no more new pistols, she's done.

Don't think about it just: chop, drop and hang her up. Done. Boom-sha-ka-laka. Celebrate the harvest (tradition).

Oh and I finally have a fairly large DD just going into flower - she's about 18" tall right now after stretch - not the plant in the back round (mother in veg 3 months or more) - looks like shit now - will be a bud monster later on.

We're glad you've enjoyed it Jointmaster. We do love the species. Some of us are killing it. Feel free to hang around and join the conversation.

BB, great post. :laughtwo: It was your enthusiasm that inspired my own passion for the DDA. I guess we really have you to thank for this thread.

Beautiful plant there. I can't wait to get my own to that size. I'll post a picture of her later today. Just a teeny baby at the moment. She's going under a new light and will stay 20/4 lighting, so I'm hoping I can finally match some of the magic you all keep posting.

My latest Dark Devil Auto darling. Nine days old today and already showing flashes of purple in the tight spaces. :woohoo:

Maybe, just maybe I can come close to some of you. You've collectively raised that bar. Thank you all for that.

Day 48 and she is 22 1/2 inches tall. Still no color. :whoa:

Purple or not, she's one beautiful plant Rifleman. Wow! So wonderfully bushy! Good job. She still has time to show the color. My first one didn't get much color until the end. Glimmer just has us all salivating this time. :laughtwo:

Thanks guys, I think she's pretty cute.

I was pretty surprised by how thick into flowering she got.

She still has a good ways to go. She'll thicken up nicely.

Here's my latest and so far the largest. I think the larger plants are the Pheno type that are green for the most part until pretty far into flower then turn purple. The short pheno gets purple from the first signs of pistols and ends up black at harvest. Glimmer has the unusual tall AND black which would of course be my preferred pheno type. I've always gotten the short purple black for the majority of these I've grown. Still all mighty fine meds.

Here's my tall DD a week or so later than the last pic I posted. I'm going to make up a nitrogen heavy tea (alfalfa meal/worm castings/Kelp meal/rabbit berries) and see IF I cant get her to bush up some more like you folks that feed the plants.

I just made a batch and did a foiler with that ^^^ along with my usual IPM (spinosad/humic) last night, tonight will water in the compost tea (all the ladies get that) and see whats what.

Not the yellow mother in the backround!! This was taken right after the foiler ... I'll take another pic tonight to see if we can see any difference.
