Dark Devil Auto: A Community Grow Record

Here's my little DDA 27 days old and just started popping pistils.
Hope she starts putting on some size here now that she's in the 7 gal pot

Newty always found her DDAs took off under 12/12. I haven't tried it yet.

It would be good to see if it does auto-flower for you Chef. Otherwise we'll never know - except you did mention taking a clone... I think @dynamo1 had one that didn't auto flower.

At the other end of the spectrum, here is a moody shot of my current DDA at 28 days from sprout and already finished stretch I think!

:Namaste:
Nice pic, Amy! :Rasta:

Day 65

DDA1 - I was starting to wonder about this one but she started filling out. Throwing out plenty of new pistils so its looking like we’re in for the long haul.

DDA2 - Once again I have flubbed my dub during flower. She was eating and drinking like a champ which I believe led to over feeding. Some of the leaves turned brown, curled up, and got a little crispy. Gave her a fresh bucket with 1/4 strength nutes hoping she can recover. The top cola hasn't thrown out any new pistils for over a week. Should I chop it so I can lower the light? All the lowers are still throwing out new pistils. Little advice please....

Time to go tee it up......Caddie

Hey caddie! No harm in doing so if the top cola looks ripe to you. You have plenty of DDA on the way so no harm no foul, as I see it!

Although i do see plenty of white pistils still there in that closeup... so I’d actually wait till they receded.

what day are they up to?

We are on day 65. The closeup is a lower not the main cola. Appreciate your advice, I think I’ll chop the main and lower the light.

All the buds on my DDA girl are pushing out new white pistils still but the trichs across the board are almost all cloudy (no amber). She's doing the heavy foxtailing....wonder if she's ready to be cut down? Been in flower 68 days now...

You're examining the trichome heads on the flowers and not the little leaves?

You could always take some and leave some, then compare when some of each set have been cured.

Yeah, checking everything. I saw a few amber today so I'm going to take some of the lower branches today and the remainder next weekend I think, or maybe three harvests over three weekends. The huge center cola will be last I think... it's doing the most foxtailing.

So I took these two branches off just now and trimmed off most leaves. They came out to 25g and 19g. I have 8 more branches around this size remaining plus the main huge cola.

It's not surprising to see a small number of amber trichome heads even before something is ready to harvest. Trichomes aren't all produced at the same time, and the earliest will naturally be the first to degrade. It's a... I don't know what you'd call it, a balance game, maybe. If you're looking for maximum overall potency, "Are more clear heads turning milky than milky ones turning amber?" If so, potency is still increasing. If, on the other hand, more milky ones are going amber than clear ones are going milky, then potency is decreasing.

Nice @Schnookie !

my mystery DDa is looking like she might flower long and stretch high... I don’t even know what to say about this plant anymore. Today is day 9 of 12/12, day 64 from sprout. Two days ago she was looking quite yellow and sad on the bottom, but I was already feeding 6.5g/gallon. So I took her roots out to take a peak.

I was planning to up pot her into a 5 gallon bucket, but the bucket I was planning to use had a small crack in the bottom of it... so that won’t work for Hempy. I just added fresh perlite to the bottom and the top of her bucket and she seems much happier now. Just stretching out of control.

My buddy's took a long time to flower. Planted it straight into a five-gallon fabric container of 37.5% Fox Farm Ocean Forest / 37.5% FF Happy Frog / 25% perlite (might have been a little more Ocean Forest, as I was low on Happy Frog at the time, and I supplied everything but the light, utilities, and labor). He asked me... IDK, maybe a month and a half in, if I was sure it was an auto. It just kept on growing, lol. Then, oddly, it didn't seem to stretch much (or for very long) during its flowering phase. He only got a bit over two ounces from it.

Had to have been either DDA or SSDC. None of the others were known for turning purple (it wasn't lacking for phosphorous, or enduring cold temperature).

I wonder, had you kept yours on a "long-day" light schedule, if it would have ever flowered/finished. But I would have given up on that hope, too (probably sooner than you, lol).

That’s why I took a clone. Which will be ready to go into soil in a few days.

we’ll see if it flowers unprovoked by light schedule
