Dark Devil Auto: A Community Grow Record

I'll be watching too @Kismet . I love learning new ways to do things. I had always heard that for the CS to work you have to start applying it about a week prior to the plant (photo or auto) flowering for it to work. I hope you prove that theory wrong and have success.

checking the trichs on a DDA is not so easy I find. Now I admit I don't have a more expensive electric microscope just a hand held loupe. But they can be tough to "read" with the purple background and when the stems of the trichs are a red color.

I just ordered a cheap little pocket microscope gizmo, because I've come to realize that the standard jeweler's loupe is no longer enough for me. It has an LED in it, offset at a 40° angle so as to cut down on glare(?). But I assume that probably won't be sufficient for these "colored" strains. Would using some kind of strong colored side-lighting instead of the standard onboard white (or blue-white?) LED help with them, do you think?

When i rub her i swear i smell a bit of Jack Herer in her?

Not terribly surprising, since Big Devil XL is supposed to be one of DDA's parent strains, and it is supposed to be a cross of (a cross of a cross of a cross, lol? IDK) some autoflowering version of Jack Herer (and, presumably, the Jack Herer Auto would have Jack Herer genetics in it, although I don't know at which remove that would be).[/QUOTE]

I was in a hurry to change my avatar, and didn't have time to unbox the lights I'll be using (if/when the last(??? lol) of the equipment/supplies ever get delivered  ) , take a picture, crop/size it, and upload it for an avatar - so I grabbed the first image I came to that appeared to be one of my old ones.

There was one other in the same directory. I'll switch it and you can tell me which one you prefer. Pre-post EDIT: Well, THAT sucks. I just tried to change my avatar. It was somehow zoomed in and cropped. So I manually resized the thing to 120x60 (and a very small file size). That one got zoomed massively and cropped when I uploaded it. Looks like I'll just do without for a while :( .

Huh. Just tried using an animated .GIF. The animation part was stripped, of course - but it looks like it's more or less correct. Go figure.

Screw it; I've had more enjoyable root canals. How the hell do you upload an avatar image without it getting chewed up and spat out in an unrecognizable form by the forum software?

:hmmmm:I'm clueless, computer challenged is what I am. :Namaste:

I hate to type "old, is what I am," because I'm not even 50 yet - and have been pounding away at computers since 1981 or thereabouts  - but I seem to have all the symptoms. I could do this thing before, lol, and even explained to others how. IDFK.

We now return you to your regularly-scheduled thread:

I received my el cheapo fan and carbon filter setup. Tent is... well, it has left its origin point, at least. Have 2x 134 watts of newer style LED lighting (and some backup if absolutely necessary). Will be dropping seeds ~48 hours after the tent arrives (will air out tent for a day and then test-run the lighting / fan).

Is anyone keeping track of yields? I'm wondering what the average yield for a DDA (and an SSDC) is in three gallons of soil/perlite mix under not a lot of lighting. 3'x3' space, so 29.8 watts per square foot - but I'll be trying to do a lighting schedule of 18/6, so does that make it effectively 44.7 watts per square foot? I'm still a little confused on that. I know DLI is important, too, but don't know if this kind of thing is linear or...

The main reason I want to do at least one (preferably at least TWO of a strain, for a rough comparison) is that our GeoPots sponsor sent me little sample bag of their two-part dry ORGANIC - OMRI-certified, IIRC - nutrient line (veg & bloom). Has anyone used this stuff?

Geoflora Nutrients is an organic based blend of 20 high quality inputs.
Geoflora Nutrients is an easy to use organic based fertilizer that can be deployed on a large scale without the downsides of traditional organics. By combining a granular form factor with a wide range of carefully selected ingredients, Geoflora Nutrients delivers a balanced charge of beneficial bacteria and over 19 organic based inputs with diverse macro and secondary nutrient profiles, which work together to produce a simple yet effective solution for organic cultivators who want to see results – without the hassle.

Breathe Easy.
Designed with the end user in mind, Geoflora VEG and BLOOM is a 2-part fully organic based dry nutrient formulated to address the problems associated with applying organics on a large scale while still delivering the results growers expect from their tuned organic regimens.

The dustless, granular form factor of Geoflora VEG and BLOOM ensures all 20 of the high quality organic based inputs are delivered evenly and effectively without creating harmful, irritating airborne dust during the amendment process.

Grow Organically.
Our added biological charge aids in taking each input to its full potential, creating a web of living soil biology designed to aid in the transport and availability of key macro and secondary nutrients, as well as a comprehensive profile of amino acids and vitamins necessary for healthy plants and heavy yields.

Boost Yields.
An economical alternative to many nutrient systems currently on the market, Geoflora Nutrients offers an easy to use, complex assembly of organic based and natural inputs to users while reducing run cost of nutrients by 20% or more. In-house trials of Geoflora VEG and BLOOM in a commercial setting saw an average of 20% increase in final product potency, and 10% average increase in terpene production.

Oh my goodness Magoo..... took my breath away. :bravo:

TS.... there you are. :hugs: I was really beginning to miss you. :hugs:

What you’re watching for with DDA is the moment they start to flush cloudy. Chasing amber with DDA is madness. You’ll wait forever. Like beez pointednout, the red oil in the stalks throws you off.

I find this insightful. Carnival has terpenoline levels that can surpass Jack Herer, and I think it may be the commonality that pulls me to the two chemovars.

Sweet Sue encouraged me to share my Dark Devil on this community, which I did not know about. I have a Dark Devil auto at week 10 and it has been my strangest plants yet, but strange in a good way. I'm glad Sweet Sue told me about this community, I have a lot of catching up to do to learn more about the Dark Devil....thanks
