ShiggityFlip, great idea on the drainage holes. I just had to acknowledge that. It sounded just like something my Dale would have tossed out. Made me laugh to read it. :laughtwo: :Love:
 
Yeah, DW. What kind of and watts in cfls are you using? I use 10 curly bulbs, 100 watt output, a mix of soft white and daylight for veg . I have the daylight on a separate timer for 10 am - 2 pm to simulate noon. The flowers are getting the soft white, (6 - 100 Watt) which are yellow.

Are they 23watt, (100watt equivalent)?
 
I ask because 10 23 watt CFLs means at full tilt the best you're offering your plants is 230 watts, a formula that can work most effectively if you have those bulbs so close you're singeing leaves on a daily basis. I have one plant in my tent right now, a Jamacian Dream, that has at least 10 CFLs around her alone as she runs up to harvest. At least two of those 10 bulbs are 40 watt.

I take my CFLs seriously. :laughtwo:

Mine are, Sweet Sue. They run so cool, I don't have to worry about burning the ladies or starting a fire. Surprisingly bright for the little amount of wattage the are pulling.

edit: I have a very small grow, 4 mature and one juvenile in 3 chambers, each with their own light schedule. One lady got so big in veg, 36" wide, 33" tall, I had to give her one whole chamber to herself! She started budding even under 16/8, so I switched her today.

My first journal was straight CFLs and I pulled 4.5 ounces, dry, from two monsters in an open closet. In the end I had just over 400 watts burning in that small 1'x2' space. :laughtwo: It was so much fun getting those lights right up in there every day. I realize much of the thrill was tied up in its being my first, but it was so simple, so effective, and warmed the whole corner of the living room all winter. I miss that this year.

Even at 400 watts it was like having 4 lamps running with 100 watt incandescents. I never worried about it.

Do you have a link to that first grow? I want to see how you organized your living room space.
 
High sorry, kinda tied up..

Since shiggity.. Ive added 4 blue for a total of 9 23w. 5Blue 4 red. It was the best i could do until moments ago, found another Y and plug. Tomorrow she'll have 11.

Hopefully ill start adding HPS incrementally each day, starting with 1hr in 7-10days. hope

I think there are three of us Alaskans here, and at least a couple more on other forums. Gotta represent the Northern Growers. Oh, and our Canadian Neighbors that are far enough north to deal with long winters.

Im trying to get friendly with ya'll so you's can take my plants and love them when i cant afford to anymore:laugh::battingeyelashes:

little mini update.while i can..
Thought i lost baby afghani yesterday, found her dried out and limp, head facing the dirt.
Thought it was just a failure to water? Tho i think it was my first dampening off.
I made a camomile tea, for my other babies, thinking it was too late for and not expecting afghani to return. A good 8hrs after i found her, shes making a return and slowly aiming back up

Started in paper towel NOV 22, went to dirt with tiny tap showing on the 24th.
I nearly gave up on it twice!
Is today day one? The last 2 weeks dickin around in the dirt doesnt count for anything?
