Sounds like fun! I'll be keeping an eye on your afghan kush. I'm thinking of trying that on my next grow

Welll!

More experimenting..

Eggshells are 93-98% calcium. After a quick 20-30mins in the oven at 350, crushed to a mix of fine powder to small sand-sized-shell..
Add to soil for a nice slow release as it decomposes.

Or, be like me and add to water, steep and feed!
...(being exactly like me, not recommended:laugh::bigblush:)

Not having the slightest idea how many eggshells would be needed ...
Started like so

4 egg shells cooked.
1/3 of those crushed.
That ^ went into 1/2 filled gatorade bottle to steep for 24ish hr.
HALF of that liquid concoction went into bagseed 3.

Next morning, less then 24hrs later...

Definitely need less eggshell/more water!

Aside from that bit of fun. (crushing eggshells..Weeee!)

This here be bagseed 3, think today is 8th in flower, pic from yesterday.

Hey buddy! I must say that between the Matanuska Mud, the willow water and now eggshells, you will have the most interesting soil around. And you wont have any problem with supply of at least two of those. Very cool that you are using some of the local options. I was hoping to find someone that might be able to supply good compost.

Hi DW.... Ive done the baked eggshell in a pestle and mortar.... Great way to get free nutes too.. I was wondering about heating it and then letting it steep, to get the goodies out quicker... Glad im not the only one :cheertwo: :laughtwo:

Hope the gardens growing away happily:Namaste:

Are you still currently adding shells to your soil? ..assuming you did do that.. How much shell to soil?

Think i may keep it out of soil, just use as liquid fert. Had no idea it was available to roots so quick at the potency it was.
My 20dolla Cal/Mag replacement:Love:

Bagseed 3 looks great! For the other one, is that a calcium toxicity from the eggshells? Thanks for the update btw Dank. :passitleft:

The other one is bagseed 3, very bottom fans. And yeah..pretty sure its cal tox from my eggshells. She was doing great, then 3 nasty leaves the day after shell water, has to be the cause..

Hey Dank,
I am like you in a lot of ways, if I think something will work, what the hell go for it. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't but till you give it a shot, you just never know. With "SWMBO" constantly reminding me how much the electric bill is every month plus her letting me buy another LED I am reluctant to run out and buy more stuff if there is a way to supplement it with something I have around the house.
I may give the eggshell approach a go though I will be diluting it a bit more then you since I saw our results. Who knows between the 2 of us maybe we will figure out how many eggshells to a gallon of water is the correct ratio.:thumb:

I tried the eggshells my first grow and it worked wonders. I didn't however mix it into my water but instead top dressed the soil and then watered. Maybe it helps you guys figure this out. I'd say it was about 2 tablespoons worth of it.

My plants started doing that as well. It progressed to what looked like a calcium deficiency later on. When I started using calmag it definitely helped. Not saying I am 100% sure that's what is happening to your plants, but it certainly looks similar.

Also, maybe it's time to invest in a pH pen. A good pH pen is definitely more accurate than those strips.

Good luck sorting it out.

Man Dank, I have no idea on that one. Looks like a direct stress to me from the leaf damage in the top pick, but the bottom one looks like Blaze may be right about it being the start of a deficiency. Very interesting.

Watch em close. What happens next might be the tell tale sign.

Bob

Ive considered a stress issue, could be, shame...weak plant in comparison to bagseed 1&3 and the stress they went through:laughtwo:

Thanks to Blaze and his feedback.. I get to test the wolfs poormans cal/mag.
1 tsp. contains approximately 800-1,000 mg. of calcium.
So ive done 1tsp shell and a pinch of epson salt, and started feeding. Started with a small dose today, few ounces worth..
See what happens and go from there.
