Dank's Three Strain Grow LST CFLs In Soil

Wow, that dual spec is really close to true white. I wonder if dual spec HPS burns so white as well? Anyway, great pics bro, wish I had such good lighting for photo ops.

sorry to hear about your loss.

the plants looks great, what do you think of the gdp cheese one. seems to have a good few pheno types but im thinking maybe thats what happens if an auto is crossed with a regular male, im still not 100% sure on that one.

your other plants look great, seem to be coming along well the ak47 x has always been a monster plant to grow, them ak47 x uk cherry cheese genetics seems to be so strong and always seem to come out the strongest when crossed, its always been a top performer, just wish i could track down the origins of the strain. ive searched online loads of times and cant seem to find much on it. maybe one day it will pop up somewhere and find out who the breeder is. would certainly like to try some more of his or hers strains.

did you manage to get that butter machine yet, ive got lots of msgs to go through and know 420staff and 420girl have sent me some msgs so ill have a read and see what they say, last thing i heard it had been posted or was getting posted soon.

my 400 watt dual spec hps is leaning more towards the hps looking lights, its not as much a white light but when i built a basis spectrometer it showed up as giving the full spectrum but higher in the red end of the specrum, ill try and find the link where i posted the pics of the spectrometer i built, it was just a cerial box and a cd, that then allowed me to take pics of the spectrum coming from the 400watt dual spec hps,

ill try and find out where i posted it,

I did get the machine, and a million thanks to you for that my friend. I will be using it soon enough, just don't have any trim laying around right now, but I'll put some buds in it soon. The GDP X Purple Cheese is growing well, and will be flipped soon, just have to modify the space it's in, so it will be switched to flower within a couple weeks. The AK X smells really nice already, and is developing quickly, how long do they usually take to finish?

here's the link for the spectrometer thread that ice mud put up, not 100% sure how accurare the results are but the results i got was inline with the graph on the box my bulb came in, the only issue i had was with the blank cds, some have a colour to them so i had to try 2 or 3 different blank cds and dvds until it came me the specrum, the box also needs to be light tight apart from where you cut the slits, then its difficult getting the right angle to point the box at the bulb, when taking a pic make sure your flash is turned off, my flash wasnt and this gave pics you couldnt see the spectrum.

once i had tried a couple of cd's and sealed up any holes in the box then it seemed to work well, i couldnt get it to work with a cfl but thats down to them not giving off enough light for it to have much of an effect, when i treid it on my 400watt dual spec light it gave me the spectrum in the link below, when i checked this with the graph on the side of the box my bulb came in i found it was pretty much spot on.

glad to hear you got the machine, im sure you will put it to good use at some point, it should make it a bit easier for you and give you some options for trying something else, their is some guides on here somewhere with different ideas for what you can use it for, im glad it went to someone who will benefit from it,

let me try and find out how long the ak flowered for, it wasnt as long as sativa strains, it was inline with most indica strains so on the quicker side of the flowering side of things, it usually produces very well and the last 2 or 3 weeks it just really fattens up, i found its best to totally let the soil dry out between waterings when its in flower. doing this made it really bulk up or maybe i was just watering to often, all my plants get watered a lot less often now and growth rate in veg is pretty impressive now and its certainly helped increase bud size, i know strain hunters flush their plants 2 or 3 times in flower and totally let the pots dry out before feeding again, ive not tried flushing in flower but i do let the pots totally dry out so the plant is top heavy when i move the pot.

let me find my note pad and ill check the dates and work out how long mine flowered for,

id grow it all the time but i like to try other strains and see if i can find something thats as nice as it, so far the only strain thats come close is the sensi star pheno type ive got which has been crossed with the ak strain, even the big buddha cheese didnt turn out as nice.
the big buddha cheese i harvested a few weeks ago is super stinky and a very nice smoke, but its not the true uk cheese strain so ill try someone elses cheese or go and pick some clones up from down south and produce fem cheese seeds, but this big buddha im smoking is not as potent as the ak x,

at the minute in veg ive got a samsara love potion fem growing and thats super stinky and its only in early veg so that might turn into a very nice strain, the blue mystic is also a potent smelling plant, so ive got some nice strains growing at the minute so cant wait to flower them off and see how they turn out,

18/6 is closer to a mid spring daylight time, darkness promotes stretch and root growth. there may be other reasons as well.

18/6 is Summer. In nature Cannabis sprouts in the spring and vegetative grows in summer and flowers in the warm fall. There are only places in the USA 50 States where the climate is perfect South Florida and Hawaii. Anywhere else can get an early frost.

Samsara El Alquimista Ak 47 X Northern Lights is stinky and has eye appeal and dense flowers I cant wait to smoke it.

As Sky already stated, a dark period promotes root growth whereas 24/0 doesn't allow the plant to rest much, therefore the roots don't develop as well. I grew some autos under 24/0, and they didn't perform as well as autos under 18/6. There are quite a few experienced grower here that swear by 18/6, or 17/7, and have done comparison grows playing with cycles.QUOTE=trichomes;1939973]Great thread! :nicethread: I'm spreading this question around, your valued, opinion is going to be very helpful.

Why veg under 18/6 instead of 24? :thanks:[/QUOTE]

I was a 24/0 guy for a long time just easier and didn't believe could benefit, but was bet into trying 18/6 . I won't go back, better growth and I don't feel it stretches more but just grows more as mine were still dense with close sites. Healthier plants, less power, and faster veg growth in my experience.

I also believe the plant naturally is producing more female hormone at 18/6 our something of this nature because they seem to flip a bit faster than when I ran 24/0.

Hello everyone, it's time for some pics, even though the AK X is kinda droopy, she really needed to be fed this morning. She got 2 teaspoons of tiger bloom, and 1 tablespoon of Roots Organic guano, NPK 0-4-0. So here's the pics, first the AK47 X UK Cherry Cheese X Skunk #1.

Then the Purple Paralysis, which looks like it will be a good producer, and already has some frost on the leaves.

I will feed the PP the same solution the AK X got later today, it's ready to be fed as well. I will take some pics of the GDP X Purple Cheese next time I'm out there, been kinda busy lately.

Looks like your buds are frosting up really nicely. I also love to see a plant with a nice even shade of green like that. I'm yet to achieve such stability, but ya live and learn, right? How long into flower is she?

Today is day 21 of 12/12, so it's day 18 of flower, since they started flowering quickly after the flip. I think the dual spectrum bulb may have played a role in that, they seem to really like it. I like how the PP is structured, she has nice tight node spacing, and more colas, not to mention more bud sites than the AK X. It will be interesting to note the difference in yield, but I know the AK X is some strong stuff, and these crosses yield well also, so we'll see.

Here's the GDP X Purple Cheese, which is about to get more lumens courtesy of a couple more cfls. We will flip this plant soon, maybe in a couple weeks, let her bulk up a bit more first.

She's growing good, just kinda slow, since my buddies thumb is not too green yet, though we're working on that. :high-five:
