Dank's Adventures In Dankland

@Skybound I totally agree. It's too much cash. Here's the one I got today. It's same as the other one I have. I feel these 2 kits will be just fine in my 4x8x cube tent. It's still pricey tho 320W XL QB V2 R spec LED Kit
The 320’s will spread the light around better :passitleft: i ran 2 kits in the 5x5 last run this time I have 3 with a dimmer on the center.

I have 3 - 480 watt drivers in use now. They are each turned up to about 45% of the output. It would be badass if I could somehow salvage the remaining 55% of current and direct it elsewhere to other boards so I could skimp out on buying more drivers. Anybody know if this would be possible?

Edit - If anyone knows someone that can answer this question, please tag them to this thread.

These fit nicely in center of my 4x8x71" tent. Like a rail down center. This is my style tent

HLG sells kits with just boards and heat sinks

HLG sells kits with just boards and heat sinks

That's what I'd like to do if I can get the lost current from my big ass drivers. I bet I could knock a couple hundred off that $850 for the HLG550.

Also guys have a look at Budget LED. Soon they will come out with a Series 3 Full spec. Which is the newer LM301H diodes producing 3+ umol/s vs the LM301B at 2.6 ish.

They have Series 2 in Full Spec now. Dutch is journaling that light and it looks great. Also a fair bit cheaper than HLG gear.

I hadn’t been over to HLG in a few months. That’s cool they made a Bspec. And Rspec but I sorta like the Full spec on Budgets lights for a small home grow like mine. I can Def see where having a much larger grow you would want specific lights for the veg and flower phases.

Can’t go wrong with those 320 kits. Farmer is doing very well with those in flowering :headbanger:

I hear you about the lost draw Sky. I also have my 550 running at only 55-60%. I am a bit worried to turn it up more because temps and the Maui’s buds might show Amber much faster and bleach. I believe nugs that are a little farther away have better taste and trichome quality then ones that are roasted up top. Always a pro and a con though with these type of things. You would get more yield regardless of top
Colas bleaching. Just less quality up there. Though I could be wrong lol Farmer was cranking those three 320 kits and he only got some leaf taco! My plants are showing taco leafs at 600-700 umol/s. I don’t know how much more they could take without damage.

Can you link me to that Budget LED you're talkin about? My room is roughly 9' x 9', and I have a 600w HID in the middle and 16 Vero 29 COBs around it for side lighting and am blooming 9 plants perpetually (1 a week). I have plenty of head height now but generally keep the lights roughly 18" above the tops. 2 of my drivers are only pushing 5 COBs each, and the 3rd does 6 COBs, but there's still plenty of unused driver potential that I'd like to somehow salvage. I wonder if I can put 8 of the veros onto one driver, that would be nice, and I would be able to salvage a whole driver, lol. I want to swap out that HID, but juggling so many different things, I need to hold off for a few months till I can afford to think like that.

Morning Dank & Crew.

I’ve got no idea. None of my HLG lights came with that thing a ma jig. It looks like a hole punch or something to push in rivots??? Weird.

@Skybound - They are a sponsor here on the Mag so grab the discount code found here on the boards if you do order. @Dutchman1990 - has a great journal going that is sponsored by Budget. You can see all thier sponsored growers in that journal. Definetly check them out if your in the market for QB lights.

@Skybound that sounds like a great setup. I have always wanted to add COBs into my gardens since they penetrate so well and look great. Always liked Cree COBs in 3500k for flower. They are expensive though and only offer limited wide angle lens capability.

I think your Veros would do really well with the 600HID being replaced with some QBs. You would likely lose a bunch of heat too.

and only offer limited wide angle lens capability.

that's the joy of having a 3D printer, you get to redesign everything to your liking. I already made printable reflector and base for my Vero COBs and can just as easily do so for Cree or whoever. When I built my fixtures, I was trying to cut every corner and is why I chose Vero over Cree. Vero is the best bang for the buck, but sadly RapidLED no longer carries them so I'd have to order from an electronics dist if I wanted more. Thanks for the link above!

Edit - I assume you've ordered from BudgetGrowLight before. Do they label their shipping boxes like HLG does?

That’s awesome Sky and your welcome I’ve been hearing more and more about 3D printing I just haven’t spent any time seeing how it all works. Very useful though being able to custom make loads of small pieces of plastic and other materials. Just how we want or like them.

I would like to make custom tent supports. Or light movers. Hangers etc. Because small grows tend to fluctuate a lot when being controlled by heater and Huey and de Huey etc. I saw a clever build at a job site at my work. It’s a server room but they are all temp and rh controlled at more advanced clients facilities. They had a vent to outside with motorized duct flaps. Like you would see on the vent leaving your home from the dryer. These worked with a acuator hooked up to a sensor. It would vent fresh air into the server rm and also ensure that when the AC is on or heat is on in winter that it didn’t get over hot. When a cooling or heating function came on the vents open as to purge off any excess heat or Ac building up in the room. I thought this was clever and it did regulate that room very well. It was roughly 14 ft tall. 12x12. I would like to build something like that but I wouldn’t ever get more then 8ft ish in vertical height. Sorry I get rambling when I’m speaking about grow room builds :passitleft:

I haven’t ordered from Budget yet. So I am not sure about the boxes. I believe all of my QB boards I will get from them going forward. HLG makes good products and I like thier lights but it’s the same thing and Budget is active in our community here and seem to do great customer support. Add in coupon codes for discounts and full spec lighting + using the newest and most powerful diodes from Samsung. I’m sold! Forgot to mention they are a good amount less.

HLG550V2 R spec is like $1500-1600 to the door in CAD$

Series 2 Full Spec From Budget is like $1100-1150 maybe less with discounts.

They also will cater to custom Orders so you can piece together whichever boards they sell into one bigger fixture. That is amazing customer support to me. If you want to save even more. They sell DiY kits for those that are handy making QB arrays.

Here's my kit put together. I'll hang it in few days when I get plants out and I have more time. This 320 is bright AF!

. Ok can someone tell me what this green squeeze tool is for. It's tension adjustable. Reminds me of those wrist workout things I had in high school :laughtwo:

Dank I want to know how you like that light I am thinking about getting one when I can save enough for them and that is the light I am looking at to add to my Cree COBs from Mars. I want to put another light in the middle with my COBs around the outside. Not sure what the hell that tool is for
