DankDragons First Grow

i only have 2 remaining.. the others were iffy plants that i pulled... Lil one looks GREAT and puffin seems to SLOWLY be growing away from the toothpicks... she still has a ways to go though before i am comfortable removing them.. 3&4 haven't popped soil yet that i saw... but cant be too far behind puffin.. going to go now and get supplies for a real cabinet being as i found a big surprise in my bank account today

looks good to me, the runt seems to have lost its seed shell a little to early, possibly it wasnt planted deep enough, ive had similar seeds in the past and they turn out ok, might have deformed leaves for the first node or 2 but it will sort itself out, also if your using 24-0 then id switch to 20-4 or even 18-6,
heres why,
plants do at least 3 things during the lights off period,
1, repair damage done during lights on period,
2, sends nutrients and growth hormones down to the roots to help with root development,
3, the stretch to some extent meaning more growth and more nodes, a plant thats in the shade stretches to find the light, if you had a poor light source then the plant would stretch and fall over as it tries getting closer to the light, so when the lights go out the plants stretch to find the light again, this is why they stretch so much when you flip the lights to 12-12, a grower who goes from 24-0 down to 12-12 has more stretch because the plant is not used to the dark period so it thinks its going to find the light again by stretching, so going from 18-6 to 12-12 produces a bit less stretch and plants tend to start flowering a bit quicker when using 18-6 for veg,

its just my oppinion so take it as you like, but i think 20-4 is a good schedule to use, anything between 18-6 and 20-4 i think is ideal for these plants, but you need to remember that outdoors they dont even get 18 hours of light, you need to think of cloudy days and the sun moving across the sky, so most outdoor plants never see 18 hours of light,

their was also a study done a while back using 3 clones grown in a hydro set up and all was running off the same system, so everything was the same apart from the light schedule, the tests they run was 24-0,20-4 and 18-6, the recorded root length and mass during veg and the plant under 18-6 had a lot more roots when compared with the 24-0 and 20-4 plants, so to me a plant with more roots can support a much bigger plant and provide it with more nutrients and water.

Nice info there Don Paul! As always that is the type of reinforcement that helps with decisions like a light schedule! +Reps ;)

By the way can you link me to that study you found, thanks!

pictures of my upgraded box.. took everything out.. laid in reflectix bubble foil everywhere but the area where the lights touched it (dont wanna risk blazing my girls too early lol).. glued powerstrip(yellow box was just for weight to hold till glue set) and foil into box with heat resistant superglue.. everything hooked back up and ready to go.. switched to 18/6 light schedule to promote a little internodal stretch fans on 24/7.. LilOne is developing her "spread weed leaves" second nodes Puffin is still weak and wilty.. hope she makes it. should have a better camera tomorrow. lights are getting box warmer and a little more humid... much better than the white paint.. but for a first time thing... hey you live and learn... its been said one thing may not work for everyone.. white paint is great for light reflection but not so much for heat or humidity.

when should i start nutes on LilOne?? i got MG all in one nute "sticks" for indoor flowering plants... any info on any of this post is greatly appreciated..

Now that Ive Unsubscribed from First Timer- New City Grower that should be alot easier!! ;)
Come on now Spimp, you know I still need your guidance.

My opinion on the nute stick is to crush up half of one very very fine and mix it with a gallon of warm water , let it sit overnight and give her a drink. Good luck.

Nice box bro

After a day or so after feeding you can get an idea if you should use more of the left over powder to increase strength.
Not sure of where you are , urban or country but Google organic nutes , look for some chicken , rabbit , bat or steer manure and see if it's feasible for you to get your hands on some. Not knocking MG , it works , works very well actually but..... I'd go organic if I could over MG

didnt think of that.. great idea and thank you

ill try and find the link for you and you can have a read, it also had a study on the harvest times, all plants was harvested at same time, well removed from grow room at same time, 1 was harvested same day, 1 was given 24 hours of dark and the other was given 48hours of dark, they sent the buds off for testing and all came back exactly the same results so giving the plants 24 or 48 hours of dark before harvest did not increase trich or thc or cbn, but could be strain related as they only did tests with 3 clones from the same plant grown in same conditions,

the only thing they found was if you harvest the plants before the lights are due to come on then starch levels are lower, so say the plants are under 12-12, if you harvest after the lights have been on for 12 hours then the plant has more starch in the leaves and buds, but if you cut the plant down before the lights are due to come on or harvest as soon as the lights come on as this had lower starch levels in the leaves and buds, i posted a load of info on fuzzy ducks journal about trich production and other info,

ill try and find the site that was running the clone testing and ill put the link up if its not for another grow site, if it was then ill pm you with it,

the only thing i can safely say helps produce more trich is having lower humidity during flower, most of the heavy trich strains that grow outdoors grow in climates that have very low humidity and high temps, so places that make hash have their plants growing in lower humidity due to the climate where they are, so this suggests that lowering the humidity during flower produces more trich, if you search their net for strain hunters cheese, or search or strain hunters kings kush then they give you the best conditions needed to produce the best bud, they give you everything like day and night temps, humidity for veg and flower and they tell you when its best to lower humidity during flower, plus loads of extra info like ec, ph, thc levels throughout the grow, lots of good info but cant post links as they sell seeds from their site, our sponsors also sell their seeds but cant post links for obvious reasons, but search the net and you will find the vids, using gogle its the top link
