Incredible what you can do with just a top and a lollipop. Got me rethinking this whose LST craze that's sweeping the nation....
You know, I never ever LSTd not one single plant. I have learned to treat them much like my bonsai, trimming and shaping to get adequate light but knowing that balance and also when and where to prune.

I don't think LST would have allowed me to run this many healthy plants in this 4x4 space but the lolli and top and central defoliation paired with a strong enough light, that does it.

Had I not pruned them this way, half the plant would be wasting energy on nothing down low and I would never be able to amass much on the top half with the energy being redirected to the bottom.

I think this is a win-win strategy, just have to be careful not to over stress them by pruning too much at one time and also not stopping at just one or two defoliations-always keeping that airflow and light penetration at maximum capacity in this small space.

Not to mention, I'm never having to bother tying down my plants. Ugh I couldn't imagine tying down all of these plants...yikes. it's hard enough watering them all

Highya Krissi,

Gorgeous looking ladies!! ZDF has a very pretty structure! Love those buds covered in trichomes, already!
Gorilla Glue Super Lemon Haze and our prior day's focal plant, is STILL stretching.
She looks gorgeous!! She's stretching the limits!! Always something to challenge us! More room to pile on the buds!!
it keeps your brain fresh!
I'll never be that fresh!! I have to write things down remember stuff like that!!
Enjoying too much Zombie Death Fuck feminized in a single sitting can even result in a mental blackout.
Now there's a thought!! Haha. I used to blackout for a few seconds at times. Haven't been that aggressive in a long time, though!!
these sensations then quickly shoot down your spine like an electric bolt of blissful energy
Is that like an orgasm?!? That would be something!
These seeds develop into attractive plants with dense buds
You've given me a new appreciation for ZDF. Very nice write-up!
11 weeks to mature.
I was interested in growing this outdoors, but 11 weeks may be too long. I hate thinking about tempting the end of the grow into cold weather! This year was great! First since I've been back. No one knows the future.

Very nice to see you trying to get back on schedule again!! All is right in the world! Thank you. Happy Smokin'

I really like them so far!! Curious and excited to see what this strain offers further down the line seeing them starting up!

She's gotta be 58 inches at least. Right at where Gigi was...those buds were worth the challenge so I know Spicoli's will be, too!
I'll never be that fresh!! I have to write things down remember stuff like that!!
Post it notes. I should have stock in them
Now there's a thought!! Haha. I used to blackout for a few seconds at times. Haven't been that aggressive in a long time, though!!
On weed? I dont think ive ever blacked out. Nope. Rode an imaginary bicycle once in an imaginary mall to an inaginary Mrs. Fields to apparently get an imaginary white chocolate macadamia cookie, up an escalator and all....
Is that like an orgasm?!? That would be something!
I was hoping more of that and not the shooting occipital neuralgia I have lol
You've given me a new appreciation for ZDF. Very nice write-up!
Two great parents, one of them thought dead, and here we are with these gals. I'll take it!

Says to harvest her around September, too, so you'd have to be in a place to start earlier also I would think...that stinks
Very nice to see you trying to get back on schedule again!! All is right in the world! Thank you. Happy Smokin'
Tried to get everywhere I could this morning before errands. Feel better I'm on track again! Thank you for being patient with me and my crazy schedule!

Highya KRissi,

This may be out in left field. I noticed some red petioles and started thinking about phosphorus. For one thing, phosphorus is a slow moving mineral/nutrient (so say the literature). I think it means it takes quite awhile to be helpful in the plant. I read one suggestion that said to put the bonemeal in the soil (at planting time) and it'll keep releasing the whole growing season. Another article said phosphorus becomes available quickly with bonemeal. I don't know how much truth there is in this, but I have no reason not to believe them.

Side note - I always thought bonemeal needed to be put on monthly. Maybe not. It's one of those "different" minerals/nutrients.

Oh, phosphorus is needed to store energy in the plant leaves. Adenosine triphosphate is the mechanism. It gives up a phosphorus atom (releasing energy) to become adenosine diphosphate. Telltale sign are the red petioles. Don't shoot the messenger! Haha. Happy Smokin'

My good friend the Phosphorus King. Not to worry, just because I love them so much with their feed, I'll give them a little topping mix. (The rolled up bag is earthworm castings)

I did implement the bonemeal upon both transplants just so you know! I remembered us having this Phosphorus talk but leave it to you to notice the red petioles. After every time you mention it to me, I neglect to see it somehow!!

Ready for getting them ready....(nutrient labels are not necessarily what is in the jug btw...too many plants too little jugs short on space....I need a new storage area contraption from Santa)

Thank you for looking out for my lady belles!

Good early growing morning friends and family.

I don't feel like discussing why I am awake so early today but I am so we will just leave it at that!

DAYS 76/77, DAY 19 FLOWER

Continuing on from yesterday's plant of the day, I figured it would be best since the introduction was already in place for the Zombie Death strain, to just go ahead and showcase our other, 1 day younger ZDF, in SPIKE.

Spike is 76 Days old today and is Day 19 of Flower
She and her sister are the exact same height of 46 inches. It's crazy how strikingly similar these two are, I've mentioned it before, but I'll mention it again, 1st time seeing two plants so much alike. There are a few pics of both Gizmo and Spike together on this Focus Spread.

Only plant that I think may be super similar to a seeded sister is Spicoli our Gorilla Glue Super Lemon Haze. Her and her predecessor, Gigi, looked so very much the same at this point in development.

Curious to see how that all pans out but back to our Plant of the Day: Zombie Death

I spread out all the feed toppings while I was manic a little while ago lol so I'll go back and feed them after I smoke this joint. Bat guano, seabird guano, earthworm castings and some bonemeal for those red petioles @Bode :thanks:

:passitleft:

I had to go back and read that more slowly. At first I read it quickly as you were smoking a joint of bat Guano, seabird Guano, earthworm castings and bonemeal. I knew the bone meal was out of place for a joint so that tipped me off to go back through and it was then that I noticed the period between the two sentences, but I originally thought, "man she has an odd taste in joints." :laughtwo:

Highya Krissi,

Your ZDF's look gorgeous! Nice showcase post! I hope things look up for you! Tending your ladies and smokin' a joint/bowl will help for the short term!! Happy Smokin'

You are too much. I just spit out my coffee! And it's my Wawa coffee. Damn you!
Long legged frosty tops!
Yes Sir!!! The way I like em!
With your trim style, are you getting about 8 to 10 colas per plant?
So glad you asked this, I made it the focus of the day! But yes that is my average!
Highya Krissi,

Hiiiya Bode.

Ready to still kill a man today but I'm in a better mood even though we have cycled around yet again to another unfriendly time in this month. You know, when you're batting a thousand, where are the damn NY Yankee recruiters? I'd have landed myself a Muslim million dollar contract by now....

Thank you, these girls are doing what I had hoped they would and doing it with a whole lot of umph!

DAYS 77/78 AND DAY 20 FLOWER under the @Cultiuana CT-720 golden sun!

I wanted to do a then and now for ya...

So last winter I had another Winter Grow, in my Amazon journal. It was another 5 plants in this 4x4. I had an Amnesia monster crop, my 1st Gorilla Glue Super Lemon Haze and all c/o @Weed Seeds Express, an Acapulco Gold, Sirius Black and NYC Diesel. So I had a few more Indica dominant in this tent and a MC. They were vegged out for a full 56 days as opposed to my current girls who only got 44 days worth of vegetation. The light was a MH FC4800 so we are looking at 240 more usable watts in the @Cultiuana CT-720.

*This pic was toward the end of flower, clearly, think we had about 3-4 weeks left on most.

Compared to our only 20 day Flower girls today

This tent is overwhelmingly big and beautiful. Don't worry not too overwhelming! Our GGSLH this round shows off her Indica roots in those huge leaves she has though, something my last one did not. Both share the towering height trait, however.

It is able to produce 5 huge healthy plants, lots of frost, big early buds and a partridge in a pear tree.

Speaking of buds, thanks to an earlier question from @Gidorah, we are focusing on the number of colas per plant using this "training technique" in terms of just a top a lollipop and some center defol.

All of the following pics are of our individual girls and their colas. The only plant that has less than the average #, is our GGSLH. Her buds are so big and long, they make up for the lack of numbers. Our last Gorilla Glue Super Lemon Haze in Gigi, pictured in the same exsct spot as Spicoli is now, in the Amazon pic, she also had only several mains but yielded me 10.8 OZ by herself.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day and I'm thankful yo be able to be back on here more regularly with you all again. I'll be catching up my PMs next after I do some stuff around the house.

Ciao ciao!

Highya Krissi,

Very nice looking ladies, again! Cool to focus on colas! They all seem so big according to their strain. Do you trim trying to develop a certain number of colas? Say, at 4th or 5th node, gives you 2X4+1 for top cola equals 9! You only top once, but do you top some of the side branches? I love how they can be bear underneath, then make huge buds at the top! More efficient use of the nutrients!!
Here comes the pain in the butt! On Sirius Black some lower leaves are starting to yellow. Is that from the way they usually do when maturing? Fan leaves giving up nutrients to keep the bud production happy? I'm guessing, but better to be safe than sorry!
Well, Sunday here with a nice sunny day! Julie is decorating our free huge fir Christmas Tree. We lucked into that! Anyways she likes everything Christmas and will spend the next few days decorating as long as she can stand the pain.

Bud production is awesome!! Hope you're having a nice quiet stress-free day! :hugs::hugs::hugs: Happy Smokin'

Gorgeous Garden Girl did ya like I how I used all Gs? 😍 CL🍀

Highya Krissi,

Very nice looking ladies, again! Cool to focus on colas! They all seem so big according to their strain.
I was told the ZDF are medium sized plants. Lie. I knew my Gorilla Glue Super Lemon Haze is a big girl. My Gelato-K is actually kind of stout compared to her predecessor but wider and more colas. Sirius Black reminds me of her prior run in Onyx, to the T.
Do you trim trying to develop a certain number of colas? Say, at 4th or 5th node, gives you 2X4+1 for top cola equals 9! You only top once, but do you top some of the side branches?
I do not top anything but at the 5th node, i didnt even know you could top side branches! New wrinkle in my brain
I love how they can be bear underneath, then make huge buds at the top! More efficient use of the nutrients!!
That's the plan!
Here comes the pain in the butt! On Sirius Black some lower leaves are starting to yellow. Is that from the way they usually do when maturing? Fan leaves giving up nutrients to keep the bud production happy? I'm guessing, but better to be safe than sorry!
She actually has some CMAG spots on those lighter leaves. I think yes to what you are saying and with the booster shots yesterday morning and CMAG with the feed and nutrients coming again along with the first round of Stacker next watering, she should be just fine. Gelato-K also has some CMAG spots so yea, these girls are amping for flower I think. I've been trying to adjust nutrients accordingly. So funny how my biggest girls are the ones who don't give me any problems lol
Well, Sunday here with a nice sunny day! Julie is decorating our free huge fir Christmas Tree. We lucked into that! Anyways she likes everything Christmas and will spend the next few days decorating as long as she can stand the pain.
Send me a picture! I love decorated trees and Douglas Firs are my all time favorite Christmas tree!
Bud production is awesome!! Hope you're having a nice quiet stress-free day! :hugs::hugs::hugs: Happy Smokin'
Thank you! It was OK until I ran out of heating oil last night because someone was too busy gambling on his phone and not checking the height of our oil reserve cause we have oil heat in the house. Soooo woke up to it being 58 in the house, TK had to get up at 5 and run to grab diesel cans from one of his job site to hold me over until the oil company can get here. Luckily, cause I know everyone is worried about the plants, the grow room has a separate radiant heat as it was an addition to our house. So I was able to keep the girls nice and toasty. Luckily, lights on for this very reason, in the coldest parts of the day. Heat is on now in the house, enough oil to last til we get a delivery and I was able to shut off the heat in the grow room just in time for lights out.
Gorgeous Garden Girl did ya like I how I used all Gs? 😍 CL🍀
I do like that could even done " gorgeous green ganja garden girl" G x 5!!! :high-five:

So in light of me running around this morning in my cold house and trying to get things started, I didn't have time for a focal plant of the day or many pics of this tent. I shifted my focus to the small tent checking on my Autoflower's trichomes.

I'll be back with more on this journal later tonight or tomorrow, don't fret!

Looks perfect Krissy
Hey there Amos! Good morning, pleasure seeing you over here hanging out with my girls! Usually I have a spread of pics per day so I'm sorry you came in on a 1 pic post!

These girls are healthy and happy though and I'm really pleased with this grow, more than happy to have you follow along!

I've seen you around the site plenty, your links in your signature, are any of them current? And is the mushrooms a micro dosing thing? My cousin brought me some the other day on my son's birthday and sprinkled a micro dose she said on my piece of cake. Honestly, I had a lot less anxiety for the next oh idk 15 hours or so. Curious as a long time ago @Costanza brought this to my attention.

Hope you have a great day bud!

Highya Krissi,

So glad you have oil! Also glad your girls are fine! And that they are!! Great work!
I remember the days when nothing made me cold though
Beautiful time!! Wasn't it!
It's just stoner CRS
What's funny about this - I was the most forgetful kid in school, I think. I have a history of forgetfulness. I just find a way to deal with it, like all things.
Take me to Maine!
That's an interesting statement! I like it here better than all places I've lived. If you're ever on the move, I'd certainly help where I could.
I only try to help how people react to things and I know that is gravely futile.
I could tell you stories about trying! At least you know the end at the beginning.
just got to get back up and not let it keep us down
You seem to have a very strong spirit within you! I don't see that in real life, anymore. Sad. However, I have lived by that code to get back up, no matter what!

Probably scared you with the length of this entry. I should go now, so Happy Smokin'

It was OK until I ran out of heating oil last night
Oh what memories. I haven’t had oil heat since I was a kid but I remember those 5 gallon cans of diesel to do the hold over for the oil deliver truck.

Thanks Krissi for taking the time to explain your top and a lollipop. Top and a lollipop, that should be the unofficial name of this trimming method you are using. For comparisons sake, my grow was LST'd and I have 11 colas so it makes me wonder if it's worth all the sticks and time. Great journal, thanks for sharing!

Highya Krissi,

So glad you have oil! Also glad your girls are fine! And that they are!! Great work!
I'm doing my best, that's all I can do!
Beautiful time!! Wasn't it!
Oh my gosh, yes!
What's funny about this - I was the most forgetful kid in school, I think. I have a history of forgetfulness. I just find a way to deal with it, like all things.
Hahahahaha he said he thinks he was the most forgetful kid in school! Hahaha what did you forget Bode? Oh I needed this laugh this morning! Thank you!!
That's an interesting statement! I like it here better than all places I've lived. If you're ever on the move, I'd certainly help where I could.
I have Google searches for Maine land and properties for sale. We aren't going anywhere for probably 20 years but I have a plan in my head of what I want. I need access to water and fish, enough land for a couple greenhouses and some farming, maybe even some basic animals-chickens and the like?
I could tell you stories about trying! At least you know the end at the beginning.
I still like to hear those stories!
You seem to have a very strong spirit within you! I don't see that in real life, anymore. Sad. However, I have lived by that code to get back up, no matter what!
I've told you, I've been here many times. My soul is a big force cause it's old and it's done this shit ten times over.
Probably scared you with the length of this entry. I should go now, so Happy Smokin'
Absolutely not! NEVER!!! MUCH LOVE ALWAYS TO ALL YOUR LONG POSTS!
Oh what memories. I haven’t had oil heat since I was a kid but I remember those 5 gallon cans of diesel to do the hold over for the oil deliver truck.
Sucks right?! I had a friend of mine who had oil heat a few years ago and I was like oil heat, wtf. Then we moved here and low and behold, oil heat!!!! TK wants to run a gas line and flip the house over, only thing I do like is the smell when it comes on-almost like a fireplace.
Thanks Krissi for taking the time to explain your top and a lollipop.
I don't think I explained it all that well but I'm glad you caught the gist of what I was putting out there!
Top and a lollipop, that should be the unofficial name of this trimming method you are using.
Oooh I like it the T&L method!!!
For comparisons sake, my grow was LST'd and I have 11 colas so it makes me wonder if it's worth all the sticks and time. Great journal, thanks for sharing!
It's what amassed on those colas that makes the difference. I'd rather have 8 stacked colas than 11 ones with larf on them and stuff. I think we all would, right? I'm happy to share, more than happy to share, what I do. I'm still learning and growing and I would love nothing more than to have others grow with me. This is why I do what I do! Anytime Gid!

So today friends is Days 79/80, Day 21 Flower! Wow, how did we get to Week 3 Flower already! Crazy!

Our focal plant of the day is our @Weed Seeds Express Sirius Black, Falkor!

Falkor is my second run of this pure Indica strain. She is berry and sweet and sticky icky icky. Her sugar is coming in strong now, expect to see this become even more snow like soon-my last Sirius Black in Onyx was a caked wonder. If you look closely on some leaves, we already have some purple coming through. Last plant was purple, yellow, pink and various green hues. It was brilliant, I'm so excited!

Her only ailment as of now is some CMAG spots on a bottom leafed branch

ABOUT THE MYSTERIOUS SIRIUS BLACK STRAIN

*A growing operation calling themselves the Oregon Breeders Group has taken responsibility for this strain, claiming that it was originally conceived in Portland in the 1980s under the auspices of the so-called Sirius Black Project; Oregon Breeders Group has not revealed Sirius Black’s genetics, though. Whatever the truth of its origins, this fragrant strain has serious bag appeal and an enduring body high to boot. Its THC content has been measured at between 15% and 25%.
*NO ONE REALLY KNOWS ITS BACKGROUND

THE BUDS

*Genuine-article buds of the strain are medium to large in size and adhere in tapered, pinecone-like formations. They maintain a characteristically indica structure, with small leaves that curl tightly inward toward their central stems.

*The leaves themselves are a deep, uniform purple, almost indigo, with very few traces of green. The unusual shade is due to a very high concentration of pigments called anthocyanins. Finally, yellowish pistils and cloudy, translucent trichomes cover all visible surfaces of these stunning flowers.

SMELLS/TASTES

*Sirius Black has a predominantly sweet aroma with fruity overtones. Notes of grape and berry mingle with an underlying woodsy scent, giving the overall impression of potpourri.

*Grinding up these buds intensifies their earthy tang. Sirius Black gives off a very smooth and easily ingested smoke when burnt in a pipe or a joint. This thick smoke tastes floral and fruity on the exhale.

SMOKING SIRIUS BLACK AND ITS EFFECTS

*Smokers may have to wait a while between ingesting this delicious smoke and feeling its heady effects. Within at least 10 minutes, Sirius Black reveals its presence with some increased blood pressure in the head, resulting in some twitching in the temples or flushing in the cheeks. As these odd tics subside, users may notice some surreal changes in their sensory perception, including auditory and visual distortions like a flattening of depth perception.

*Paired with a favorite playlist, this trippy mood provides a great backdrop for hanging out with some like-minded friends. And indeed, Sirius Black's subtle mental stimulation can encourage free-flowing conversation in social settings, whether you’re with old pals or new acquaintances. Aside from this kind of chatty energy, though, the strain tends not to have the cerebral intensity of some more sativa-inflected varieties.

*As time passes -- or as dosage is increased -- Sirius Black’s indica side becomes more and more apparent, with progressive waves of relaxation rolling through the core and limbs.

*Smokers who may have been active or standing might find themselves making a rush for the closest couch- In the right setting intractable couchlock is certainly possible, as is drowsiness. Because of its mostly slow-moving vibes, Sirius Black is recommended for evening and nighttime consumption.

SIRIUS BLACK MEDICAL APPLICATIONS

Sirius Black’s relaxing properties can have some applications for medical cannabis patients as well.

*The strain’s ability to relax the body and turn down the volume on internal monologues can temporarily soothe the symptoms of stress, depression, anxiety, and even PTSD. Meanwhile, its body high can eliminate aches and pains, whether they’re temporary, as due to injury, or chronic, as due to conditions like arthritis or fibromyalgia.

*In the right circumstances, Sirius Black can even be an antidote to insomnia, lulling consumers into a deep, restful sleep. Because it is not likely to bring about any intense, recursive patterns of thinking, this strain is a good option for patients who are prone to panic or paranoia.

THC NOTES

-Highest noted THC on this strain was 35%
-Lowest noted THC on this strain was 23%
-Average tested THC on this strain is 25%

That's all for today folks! Happy growing!
