Time to put my 5x5 back up again an run way more at once. Also how do I get colas like tht? When i let mine go that long the buds near the middle down turn crappy.

Well genetics on the long colas. Those are the DT/Mystery Girl plants. Running them that long is for sure a risk. I chopped down DT Mutant Clone and one of the side donky colas started molding on me hanging dry. Was good when I hung her on the line. Went to pull her down and a little side cola was just starting to mold. Got it just in time, prolly only lost 1/2 a zip (into the trim pile - feed the worms).


I just chopped down Slurricane #1 and she's all nuggets a whole plant worth. Which ain't much unless they are gold nuggets. Hoping for it.

Slurricane #1 - all nugs but small plant. This is the size to grow for head stash. #3 nursery and put into flower after 20 days in VEG. Hoping for top shelf with her. Maybe 2 zips dried in the can.

Mystery Girl - on the line hang drying. She's not too shabby. As she's drying all the flowers are shrinking down and tightening up. Gonna be a fun trim. May try out my new trim bowl on her. A little skaer't I'm gonna ruin my weed with the trim bowl. Oh well new world problems.

Next round getting going day 1 flower

Jellium #1, Jellium Tri-ploid & PMB x PMB. I made the PMB cross last spring. Had a nice PMB male and a weird poly-ploid female that was good smoke. She had 20-30 seeds and I've popped a few for this round. My home made seeds are always the most vigorous. This was the pita trim plant that smelled like Old Spice for a month curing. Was going to toss along with the seeds then after a 6 week cure, smelled like grape candy. Hard to believe.

One more open spot to be filled with Platinum Buffalo #1. Already took cuts. PB #1 is the biggest girl of all the VEG plants, so she's next.

I'll be chopping down the next 4 ladies in a week or so, getting close. I have another cross I did, finishing up too. Not sure what she is I forget. I can't get pics of her yet and cant read the label I put on her.

Anyway here's the start of the next round.

Jellium #1 - back left
PMB x PMB - back right
Jellium Tri-ploid - front right

Lots of training going on due to tight spacing in VEG. Plants all grew kinda tight branching so had to thin and pull them out a little. This actually helps make stronger stems later in flower. The Slurricane I did the same to and haven't needed to wire tie anything yet.

I have too many plants in VEG right now and they are getting big. I may just switch VEG room lighting to flower lighting and leave the plants in #3 pots and finish them all at the same time. Not sure thinking out loud here. That wood solve a lot of stress issues for me.
I have another VEG space so anything I don't want to flower I can move. Trying to think up some options. I've got some nice plants in VEG right now. Worthy for sure but not enough flower space.

Time for a new room - I wore this one out.

3 : 2, so gonna be more leaves. For every 2 off setting leaves there are 3 off setting leaves with this one.

This is just the main stem. It will be the same for every side branch as well. So pretty quick the bush gets real bushy. I'll likely be thinning this one out from time to time. We will see. These Jellium didn't like having root balls disturbed (I up-pot then right into flower) They were droopy for the last few days cept of course the tri-ploid.

Picking up some purps in VEG is going to be interesting.

So spent the last few days trimming. Found 1 seed not on the seeded branch on Mystery Girl. Found a few kinda male bits on Slurricane #1. It'd be real nice to have a Slurricane x Mystery Girl.

Mystery Girl was all nugs like PMB but ran a lot longer in flower and smells more like DT - lemon fuel. Strong terpine profile. Classic sativa, pine + lemon + fuel. Straight up jet fuel too. Gassed me while I was at the trim table.

Tried a tester nug of Slurricane #1 - just a little taste then took a break to go swim laps.
Was having a little issue with vision. Not a great feeling while driving.

So note to self, wait until reaching destination be-4 the fire & pass it on. Should make that a sticky.


Slurricane #1 - trim test

Got a pretty good buzz for 2 hits. Was very strong for me. Once I got in the water and started swimming, I had a nice calm mellow feel even tho body was kicking and burning get oxygen, then it all kinda just blended together and as the lap tally kept climbing,

So all in all I had a grrreat day. Most of it at the trim table.
Tough job gotta get it done, & have fun.

I told my wife today while sitting at the table. "I love my job". I haven't said that too many times in my life but today, was one.

I try and set goals with results both short term to build up confidence, and long term to build up fitness. I think this goes with life, sport and farming.

Also bb since u work with regular beans alot I gotta question 4ya. Since I'm jus starting to dip my toes into reg beans instead of all female I was wondering if you knew how to tell a male in veg?

On males, all is not lost brother. We can make them work for us.

Ok so how I tell its a male is first off they are usually the tallest in VEG and they also do the best job covering up their sex. So you have a tall plant that you're not sure of after say 30 days, suspect right there. Let em grow and leave them in the VEG pot if soil, and put them in flower. Let them live with the ladies for a few weeks. They will show balls soon enough.

When mixed in with flowering plants or even ladies getting ready to flower.
Pheramones are how plants talk to each other. They know whats going on. So the male plant will encourage the females to grow flowers and the females will encourage the male to grow balls. Pretty cool huh, kinda familiar. I wait it out, till the males about to bust then take him to a cold dark room down in the dungeon then start whaking off limbs 1 x 1 until its all gone in the compost. If worthy strain I "might" try to collect pollen but not usually.

I have a plant now that I didn't sex and forgot it might be a male. He's been in flower for a few days now and still hiding his sex. The plants around him are FEM and are already showing pistols. The 1 that is hiding them usually won't have any. It takes at least a few weeks for pollen so he won't last very long, 1 or 2 more days tops.

Yeah Blaze there's not really any short cuts, I've prolly culled some good females in VEG. So I've been using the wait and see. Usually females show a pistol or 2 in VEG, males try and look like they are growing pistols in VEG but never do. So I just put them in 12/12 usually I have space since its usually a new round and set him in the middle and let the girls keep him warm. I "think" the flowers are better when I do that process and I might even have better yields.

Edit: Should see female sex traits when the leaf sets begin to off-set on the main stem. That's when the plant is mature and will begin to show signs of sex after that. So no way really to know for sure until after plant maturity.

Now wondering why these plants seem to know we humans will cull the males??

Yeah cure, reminded me to take a few jars out to check and the buds took on a lot of moisture over night even with Boveda pack in with them. They prolly need to lay out with a fan on them now. They were nug hard dry before jarring. Glad you mentioned it.

I got a nice haul out of the DT - 3 plants prolly got a # dry in the can. Already gone too.
Old friend tha is an Durban Poison aficionado, so he's all smiles. That weed is ready to puff off the vine and just gets better.

Those big frosty nugs from Slurricane gonna take a little special handling in the curing department.

Wanted to say I got some of that malted barley and added it with my microbe watering a few days ago.. they liked it for sure. How often do you add it? Was thinking I'd add twice weekly until the last 3 weeks.. but unsure of how you use it. I did grind it into a fine powder with my coffee grinder, worked well like you suggested.

Well I can tell you brown has encouraged me to boil hot water with my dried horse tail fern tea I was kindly gifted . I boiled a pot of hot water just two water and then took off burner once boiling lol and then added my dried horse tail fern and let it steep / extract the goodness out of it putting good source of silica for my girls once it cools Strain ingredient out through cheese cloth or weapon of choice lol and then I can dilute that to a weaker soloution for foliar feeding I want to know if o got more liquid kelp how much I would need to add to that diluted horse tail foliar spray . Think it was 1/2 cup concentrate horse tail to 1 gal water. Stored my concentration version of horse tail on fridge . I use start week one veg . Once a week to twice in late veg is what I aim for .

Haven’t used it as much as if liek due to pest buy plan on using again shortly.

So I would I assume it the same process I think brown told me and maybe in my journal or a pm let me look today or brown gets to ya before me .

Malted Barley - I add it to the pot like 1 cup at up pot mixed in with EWC and some soil mix maybe a some horsertail fern in there too.

Then when ever I think about it, I scratch in 1 tbs for every pot in flower and top water in. My VEG soil has it in there as well but I rarely if ever amend VEG plants. They are not worthy. Sorry VEG plants. I used to be energetic before I retired and made teas with it but I didn't see any diff from top dress so thats what I do now.

Must choose wisely.

Happy Solstice everybody and full moon and a bonus meteor shower. Doesn't happen every day. Top of that, I'm gonna get choppin.

Good time to harvest and a good time to start seeds and transplant, anything moving around, new old or in between in the garden. Now is the time. Good time to get to work.


KJ and all, on the horestail fern. It's a silica (and other goodies) source for both human and plant uptake. So make a tea like you would well make tea for yourself to drink, substitute with Horsetail Fern. Let cool.

I mix that tea with water and my IPM regime and foiler on. Rate can be 1/4 - 1/2 cup tea per gallon can do 1/2 cup for 1/2 gal water and foiler on. Measurement not critical but errr on the conservative/ common sense side. I've not found the upper limit and not looking.

Horsetail Fern Tea Recipe:

handful of horsetail fern into a quart mason jar
add clean boiling water
Let steep until cool
strain and use
Refrigerate left overs (top off with clean water)
Will keep 4-6 weeks in the back corner of the fridge.

There you have your mold/PM retardant. ^^^ Best thing I've found yet.

I grow some hard ass nugs w/humidity up in the 60-70% almost every day temps @ 80F
until lights out. So far so good. Before I started the Horsetail fern tea foiler, I would get mold, maybe only a little most times but now I don't have any.

Thanks Stank, they smell like candy in the morning and dank nugs in the after noon.

Now trying to decide when to chop. I kinda like the dank nugs smell.

Slurricane #1 smelled like dank nugs going into the can, now after a few days she's starting to smell Ho fruity! Prolly wont last until the fruit smell comes on total, I'm thinking.

Prelim puff puts it in the medium narcotic state w/giggles (my wife was giggling and she wasn't even puffing, and she never giggles). Oh and I cant see.
