Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed Stock

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

After 3 days of terrible rainstorms it's sunny again and plants are moving forward. We're supposed to have another heatwave very shortly, which I hope won't become a summer pattern, but there's little we can do. At least my plants outside get enough water still having an advantage of dry intervals. I've checked on them, did some LST and topped for a second time, they are fine and on their way for an abundant harvest.

In the meantime quick check on plants at home.

Leb male, which I retired shortly after I've taken this photo. I decided against in the end.

UD after few days of flowering. It hasn't been stretching at all in the transition period and only in the last 24 hrs I saw her becoming more vigorous. Now the stretch is needed to get these colas going. This should be a quick-flowering pheno. In fact buds are building very rapidly on her. I'll LST her some more.

CG '72. She's becoming a nice gal, easy to maintain I have to say even if very slow. I've been LSTing her a lot to get an even canopy with as many bud sites as it's possible.

Hmm if anyone has any advice about feeding Sensi Star I'm all ears.

That CG 72' is looking awesome

Thx, man.

Healthy looking youngsters con. Always enjoy the view from your balcony. Sensi Star is ok with normal feeding....no special needs. Can grow quite big outside. :Namaste:

Good to know. I read somewhere that there is one pheno, which is kinds sensitive, but if you say she doesn't pull weird stunts, then I'm just gonna treat her like any other plant :thumb:

Love the respect and love for the strains you grow. Great thread. Your humility and personality is refreshing. Thanks!

Thanks a lot, man. I don't know if my wife would agree, but these are nice words :passitleft:

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

There are factors here at play which I believe have a lot to do with genetics. Sometimes plants have their limits, sometimes they are prone to stress, sometimes they don't respond well to outdoor hardening. I am aware that some strains need to be pampered in order to survive and produce

It's totally like they're all unique individuals. You can clone them to get copies, but the seedies are all unique.
Damn plants... thinkin they're all human and all. They're as unique as all my neighbors.... fun.

Oh yeah definitely, I can side with that. We are far from the tomato seed industry where 9 on 10 plants look identical. Clones are smart way to propagate strain that otherwise will vary a lot as far as seeds are concerned. I like trying new seeds, cause you're always in for a ride, but you need to be prepared for all the bumps along the road and possible failures. It's like sometimes you have a lucky streak and strain after strain turns great and then you get a line that just fizzles on you. I'm having high hopes for Sensi Star and Bubba Hash, cause both come heavily recommended, even if I lost one of each already. But you need to end up with a good sample first to decide if it's worth going full steam ahead, which for me means popping 10, 20 or 30 seeds to really see what you can expect. As I always say it's mostly a number game.

Your plants look very healthy! I love the thick stems and nice green petioles. :goodjob:

Yeah UD is coming along very nicely, but it rarely disappoints. I'm brewing some fully organic CAT drench and I think in few days I'm gonna start serving it to help them push the flowers :thumb:

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

I just jarred my bubba hash, it has amazing flavor already. It is the less frequent fuely pheno. It didn't yield worth a damn but boy is it good. Next run I'll veg them much longer.

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

Mine looks good so far, I'd say she likes HB soil, but is slightly more sensitive to RH changes than I'm used to. Doesn't look like a heavy feeder unlike Sensi Star that has already started consuming nitrogen reserves in cotyledon and first set of leaves. I fed them some tea this morning, this should feel the gap and prevent any more problems.

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

I decided to top both SS and BH with fresh garden compost and some worms, they're both underperforming due to heat, RH, soil or all the mentioned factors combined. It's frightening how fast they call for more nitrogen and pop up microdeficiencies. No way to grow these HB way, they're too sensitive to tap into available resources. I hope that's gonna fix it, this is what I'd do with OG and it usually works.

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

Maybe you should get a bag of store bought soil to start your babies in.. Even just a gallon to get them going with before the transplant. Once plants get abit larger root ball, they should be able to tap into the natural soils nutrients? I always baby my seeds till at the beginnings.

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

All soil mixes are too rich for HB growing and it's all peat anyway, which means once I transplant they're gonna go into shock. I see it all the time with other plants from the nurseries.

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

I've done some digging trying to understand what I'm dealing with here. No clear understanding though. But I discovered there is a Sensi Star BX renamed Super Star by Delta9 Labs and it's regular! If mine pulls through till the end and bud is of high quality I might give that version a try next year.

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

Hmm it's about 115F in the sun today, could that be a problem? Anyway I gave them another dose of ferts this morning mixing two teas of which one is heavier in potassium. It's usually defined as a macronutrient that improves transpiration and water allocation. They perked up quickly, is it that straightforward?

The thing is wherever I read about SS, fussy/finicky factor pops up, particularly sensitivity to overfertilisation. But in HB soil it's virtually impossible, so it means the opposite thing is true. I have a nutrient whore on my hands. Fuck this! We really need a shortlist of strains that somehow stayed normal and may be grown with our method.

I just find it frustrating trying to read between the lines to find out that something that's described in every post as a low nutrient strain is in fact a spoilt hybrid that won't find nitrogen if you don't soak her in it!

Hey, man. Welcome to my small endeavour. Hope you're gonna have lotsa fun here observing what's happening, helping me or the others or just shooting shit :passitleft:

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

Your babies aren't in that direct sun, are they? I've fried afew putting them out in that kind of temp. That's hot..............
Keepem Green,, and cool

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

Yeah they are. From tomorrow I'm gonna start shading again I think, it's supposed to stay like that for couple of days.
