Conquer's Lavender Grow 2010!

Thanks Jason!:thankyou:

Yea, The purple peeked out for a bit when we were having a cold spell. After that, the temps went back up and the purple faded away...Crazy!

I really hope she finishes purple though. If not, the Lavender should!

Happy almost-420 by the way!:bongrip: Light one up!!

I will be using molasses during this flower session.

Does anyone have any recommendations on when to start including it??

What up bro, nice grow! I'm not sure about molasses quite yet, but I know Aberration would know, I suggest PM'ing him if you like, he's a good dude.

Your plants look quite nice, great work and I can't wait to see those buds as well! I must say hydro is added maintenance, yet I've experienced the overall result in hydro to be higher in quality. I grew 2 strains twice both in soil and hydro in the same grow room conditions, and both times the hydro produced sicker buds by far! I'm not sure, besides mothers, if I'll ever go back to soil.

:peace:

Thanks for the advise LiveTour! I'll see if I can get in touch with Abberation.
So you really like hydro. I will have to see how my hydro experiment compares to the other clones that were taken at the same time but are in soil. So far, the hydro plant is twice as big and happy and healthy...Pretty cool! Time will tell!

By the way....Happy 420!!RoorRip

My DIY aero-cloner is up and running! I made it all for $50...I hope it works like a million bucks!

I took my first 4 clones from the Lavender and put them in the cloner. We'll see how it works out

sounds like you might have to drop the temps again to get her purple later, but maybe not. most will turn purple about half way thru bloom in my experience. You might get lucky, but if not a nice drop in temps durring night hours should do the trick!

Either way your plant has the potential in the genetics. Nice. do you have ANY idea what she is?
P.s. I made a 420 funny on my page, if you get bored check it out!

Keep up the good work man!!
ROCK! :headbang::headbang::theband::headbang::headbang:

..and happy 420!!

nice clone machine you built there. can you take any pics of the guts???

about the Molassas I'd say to start using it in week 2 or 3. I'm not sure the ammounts, but if it's anything like brix building nutrients you'd wanna start at 10ml per gallon, and work up to 15 or 20ml per gallon by the end, and drop back to 10 during flush. Like I said, This is just my understanding, but I might be off.

Great idea running the cord for the pump through one of the inserts. So simple but something I didn't think of. How is it on sealing water out?

Thanks! Not a drop of water leaking from anywhere. I was worried that it might leak from the lid since it's not super tight...but it's all good!

How's your coming?

UH OH!!

I checked on the ladies tonight, and saw a few spider web strands on a few leaves! I immediately went on a search all over the plants to see if I could find any other signs of spider mites. I didn't find anything. I was really hoping to find a regular garden spider or something....but I found nothing! Should I be worried???

I plan on keeping a close eye on the girls over the next couple days. I was also thinking about buying a grip of ladybugs to let loose in the tent. If it really turns out to be a spider mite problem, will the ladybugs eat those fuckers??!

I personally would be worried whether it was justified or not. Every time I get an issue I worry about the spiders n stuff. In fact I am so paranoid that this week I have been misting my plants with magnesium and calcium suppliments that has had neem oil added to it. Prevention better than cure I say.

Of course there are normal spiders too and I hope it is just one of them for ya.. There are other tell tale signs of spider mites, white marks and black dots n all sorts which would 'normally' come before the webs I think.

As with most pests they will be found on the underneath of the leaves so they have to really be looked for regularly. But you can’t see them can you? On close inspection you will see the effects of the eggs from above. The hatching young will eat away at the underside of the leaf, sucking the life out of the plant and this sometimes leaves a visible mark through and onto the top of the leaf. This may be yellowish or silvery and will be a small cluster of spots, each about the size of a full stop, and only by the fact that they are clustered does the mite give itself away. Most of us don’t notice mites until the infestation is established and the plant has been damaged. Leaves of affected plants seem to be drying out very quickly, which they are, as the mites suck the very life giving sap from them. Dead and dried out leaves fall and the plant begins to fade away. As the adults colonise the plant they may also spin a very fine web over the leaf and from branch to branch, and alas from plant to plant. At this stage you must take drastic action

remedies. predatory mites I think, not ladybirds as we call em.

other home made recipes noted are:

Spray Recipe #1
Blend together the following
½ cup of starch or flour
½ cup milk
1 gallon water

When sprayed over the mites this mixture will trap them as it dries into a thin film. Repeat every 4/5 days until control established. Check plants daily to ensure effectiveness. Dead mites will turn black so are much easier to see.

Spray Recipe #2
This is also a deterrent on uninfected plants and may help to keep mites and other pest at bay. It is also good to ward off Vampires.!
½ - 1 ounce Garlic
2-3 ounces of onion
½ - 1 ounce of cloves
½ - 1 ounce of Cayenne pepper

Whiz in your blender with 1 Cup of water till very fine.

Add this mixture to one gallon of room temperature water. This spray must be repeated 3 times at 5-day intervals to kill off freshly hatched mites (the spray will not kill the eggs). If the mixture gets washed off it must be re applied.

MITES !!!!!!!!!! Well like said you wood notice some white dots on top the leaves and under a 30X loupe or scope with ever you have they look like little crabs, you can see thru them except for the guts which look like two spots usually. Believe me, I been battling them for acouple months. You can see the eggs too they look like little yellow to green grains on fine sand on the bottom of the leaves. If they have gone as far as the web building stage, the will cover the buds that have the least air movement. I had them that bad on plants in the 'way back' of my flower tent. I found that 'safers insecticidal soap works for me. It's nice if ya have a good sprayer to soak the plant till it runs down the leaves. I tried the 'bombs, neem and stuff such as doctor doom and others. But so fat I seem to find safers works fine. It's easy on the plants, don't need no rinsing. Just spray it on and don't put under the lites till it drys so you don't burn your plants. Drops of water work like a magnifying glass, and fry the plant. I take mine outside spray and wait till dry before returning to the room. Vacuum the room while they are out and repeat the spraying every 5-7 days till they are under control. They are a nasty ass critter thats a plague on most pot growers. They seem to be smart and flock to marijuana plants. Guess everybody wants to get stoned, can't blame them but they will stress a plant if they are bad and hurt yields and the over all health of the plant. GL and I pray they aren't mites at all. Spiders of the regular kind, they are cool in the garden. Ladybugs do nothing those predator mites work to a degree, but they are costy and and not really a good fix it. There are all kinds of homemade fixes from hot pepper sauce all the way to soaking afew cigarettes in water. I guess they work to a degree. Well nice thread and ++++ Stay Green

Thanks for the comments guys!

BAD NEWS!!! I have confirmed that it is indeed spider mites! Damnit! I will be trying to come up with a plan of action today, so that I can start murdering those fools as soon as the lights turn on this evening.

I have two requirements though: 1...the fix needs to be cheap, as I am loww on $$ right now. and 2...I would like the fix to be all natural, no chemicals.

Any and ALL advise is welcome!!!

I use 50/50 Isoprobyl alcohol and water. VERY cheap, and VERY effective. It will even dry out the eggs. Leaves no residual, but shouldn't be used on plants past mid flower or with trichomes because they are alcohol soluable. To be sure your plants will handle the mix spray one lower leaf top and bottom and wait till the next day to check for damage. I have had not negative results, and killed off my mite problem in 3 days (i'm pretty sure that the first spray actually killed them) I just spray once a day for 3 days. BE SURE TO REMOVE PLANTS FROM INTENSE LIGHT (OR TURN IT OFF) UNTIL IT FULLY EVAPORATED FROM THE LEAVES.

good luck. P.s. the herbal mixes might kill some of them, but the eggs are very resiliant.

^^^^ incase your wondering, what the alcohol does is dehydrate and crack the exoskeleton of the mites and egg shells before evaporating killing them deader than dead very quickly.
