They were topped once around Christmas.
Nice grow buddy,i thought the hydro was to make them grow fast... dont seem faster then my bags and drain to waste..
can you give me a bunch of reason why i should try that method out?
i got 2 bad backs.. mine looks like less work
Nice grow buddy,
I'm not trying to get you to use this method.
This is my first attempt at using this grow method. I have been growing in Smart Pots with coco/perlite for years and wanted a change.
I am seeing the plants growing faster in the ebb and flow than most of my coco grows.
Your plants look great BTW, and are very healthy.
This is not a pissing contest and everyone's grows are different.
If you want to try a different growing system I would recommend ebb and flow.
30 gallon reservoir, I top it off with RO and nutrients every few days (plan to build a replenishing reservoir soon). Using the Torus XpH system, don't have to adjust the pH daily. I have changed the reservoir out on average every 17 to 21 days, at the end of rez cycle I dump the rez and clean the drum, and refill. On average I add 3 gallons about every two to three days, so total water usage is 50 or so gallon per rez cycle. In the old D/W coco system I was making a new 27 gallon rez every 5 days or so using the 20% runoff rule which is a total of 100+ gallon over the same period.
I can see where issues may arise, ie, pump's (air or water) going out, and the main issue is, if one plant gets root issues then they all are going to have root issues. So keeping a clean system is a must, but this is an issue with all Hydroponic system, including coco. Cleaning the Hydroton is a bitch, I may just add it to the compost system and buy new Hydroton for each new grow. Hopefully I will figure out a good method for cleaning. Just had someone make a recommendation to bake the Hydroton to dry it out and use a screen to knock off the dried roots. That sounds like a plan.
Overall I am please with this grow method, not for everyone but for this old man it is much easier than growing in Coco.
