Come Grow With Me: A Beginners Guide

CL & OU mainly. I've never been on Facebook. Afraid old girlfriends might contact me & don't want to fight with wife over it so I avoid Facebook .... lol. Women ??? Got me ? Damned if you do & damned if you don't. Easier to grow weed then to try to understand them.
Separating those things would be a challenge for sure. That's why in a lot of my posts I say, "It's nice to have but not necessary". When I say that it pretty much means it's one of the items I purchased later after one of my grows. Most those things just help improve your growing capabilities; but you can keep it simple & grow without them. But everyone wants a big yield. You get that by dialing things in better by investing a little in equipment after each grow. The trick is buying the right equipment the 1st time instead of constantly upgrading like I did. So I'm trying to point out the things I know that work well so others don't waste money on the wrong things like I did.
I spent $3150 on 3 LEDs. Thought they were great. Then I bought 3 Mars Hydro TSW 2000's for $780. The Mars Hydro out did the $3150 LEDs by a mile. So expensive does not always mean better. I highly recommend Mars Hydro (white lights) as I don't think you can get a better bang for your buck. Something like this would be a Tip or Suggestion I'd say.
I wish there was a way to put added content in the proper area of discussion. I don't think that's possible though. I guess I could kind of do a review of things right before my 1st up-pot & then concentrate on the grow from there.
I agree with all of the above. I have a couple thoughts/questions about separating. I will write them down when I get home later. Thanks again for starting the thread, good stuff!

My temps gone up to 21c with heater on half so it don't cut out and intake coming from landing so house temp anyway slowly getting there

You'll get there. Just got to keep playing with the stuff you're doing till you find a sweet spot. Anything between 75 F - 80 F works fine for a lights on temp.

I just found this "DIY Pesticide" write up : I thought it was cool.
Okay, I have good news for those of you who want to keep things simple. You can easily make a DIY organic pesticide by placing one teaspoon of cinnamon in a dish filled with one-quart water and mixing everything together. Then, you’re free to spray the substance on your plants to create a natural barrier against common marijuana pests.

On the other hand, if you aim at making a more advanced organic pesticide, add cinnamon tea or pure Castile oil to the initial mixture. You can use it interchangeably with a mixture of water and pressed garlic. Garlic comes with a plethora of benefits for our bodies, but you may very well use it on the cannabis plant as well. However, it’s best to keep the use in moderation; otherwise, it may kill the good insects as well.

Another natural ingredient that proves invaluable for dealing with common cannabis pests is cloves. Cloves are very effective in terms of the plant protection, so if you want to keep your crops clean and healthy, prepare a mixture of cloves and a couple of drops of essential oils like citrus or peppermint. The aroma of cloves keeps aphids, spider mites, and ants away.

Last but not least, use your preferred mix to the new growth at the very beginning to protect you to prevent cannabis pests from appearing.

Peppermint oil has a pretty strong smell . Not that smelling like peppermint is the worst thing but I wonder if the smell would stick to the bud forever?

I don't know, but it sounds like X-mas Bud to me. Now if we could just get red & white striped buds ... lol.
I'd rather smoke peppermint weed then sulfur weed if I had to choose.

Oh yeah, Almost forgot .... You can also put Lady Bugs in your garden which will eat a lot of pests but not your plant.

You can use Orchid or Tomato Plant Food in Veg & Cactus Plant Food during Flower.

Lavender Plants are good to have outside to hide the smell of weed growing.

Sorry Guys, I'm getting old. I remember things the more & more I think about them; but not all at once. Don't laugh, you'll get there too ! LOL

Great journal btw . I wish somebody did this when I was starting out
Thanks. I think someone should be able to do a 1st grow on the cheap & have enough info to be successful.
I hope I'm showing how you can start with very little & get technical with it later when you've done a grow or 2.

Another person I would love to get tips & tricks from is @Virgin Ground . Check out VG's plants in the contests & you will see why. Always grows amazing looking plants. Colorful & Frosty as all hell ! I'm jealous .... lol.
:thanks:
I'll try to catch up this evening Buds.
Looks like a good read to go with my evening J.
:rollit:

She broke ground. Her curled little stem is sticking up just a little. By tomorrow she should be standing up so I'll get a pic then. All I've done is give it 3 - 5 eye droppers full of water each day (15 - 25 ml.). So tomorrow I will call Day 1 of the grow. Later today we'll do the Bubble Cloner.

It seems a lot of people here use Celsius & others use Fahrenheit. Some use ml. & some use oz., etc.
So I thought I'd throw up a few conversion charts so we can all know what we're talking about.
