Come Grow With Me: A Beginners Guide

Happy Turkey Day ! Can't wait to eat & it's only 5:30 in the morning ... lol.
Well I done got bored & ordered me a 12,000 BTU Portable AC with Heat & Dehumidifier. A little light comes in through my Window AC in the Grow Shed so I want to replace it with this one. Once this grow is done I plan to complete all my tents - 2x2x4, 3x3x6 is done, 5x5x6.5 is done, 5x10x6.5 & my Grow Shed. I'm thinking of keeping mothers in the shed & the tents for grows. I think I can harvest a couple pounds every 6 - 8 weeks if I get it all going right.

I've decided to give Quad-lining a try for the 1st time. It's just another type of LST (low stress training) so why not ?
So this is a pic of what I'm looking to do.

So I started the process this morning by removing the bottom 2 nodes. In a day or 2 she will be ready to top.
Here's some before & after node removal shots.

I've attached a link to a good Quad-lining thread for those who care to get in depth with it. I'll be posting what I'm doing step by step also.

Here's another good link to learn LST from. @InTheShed is a really good grower with a lot of knowledge.

I got lucky today. (No, not that way ... lol). The new tent I bought had a bad corner piece that the pin doesn't line up with the hole to lock it in place. So I contacted LA Garden for a new corner piece. They said throw the tent away & they are sending me a replacement. I can drill the hole a little bigger & fix the other tent so no reason to toss it. But I'll take another tent for free. I was kind of shocked that they'd send a whole tent instead of just the corner piece I asked for, but hey, it's all good with me.

thats awesome of LA Garden. Great customer service

This is what I'm going to try on one of my wedding cake looks amazing

So today I'll feed her the 3 cups of MC at 1 gr. per gal. I'll probably do 2 - 3 wet dry cycles & then up-pot & start LST.
Probably around 10 days from now.
I will most likely move this plant to the 5x5 to Veg along with 3 other plants / seeds I'll be starting soon. But once I go to the 10 gallon bag she will have to go in the 3x3 by herself for Flower.

Wow that is light years from my set up. Right now I am flowering in a 3X3 in a small basement bathroom.
So when I up-pot I remove the solo cup with the plant 1st of course. Then I remove the Holder.

I roll the cup back & forth between my hands to loosen the soil from the sides of the cup. Get the stem between my fingers & flip. I usually have to give the bottom a few good taps to get it to release.

Then just flip the plant over & right into the hole all in one shot. Spread the soil out even & she's ready to feed.

Absolutely genius!!!

Every grow I upgrade at least 1 thing. It's easier when you 1st start because you can buy a lot of the small cheap stuff at once. (Meters, Grow Bags, Pots, Wire Ties, Nutes, pH up & down, Oscillating fans, Extension Cords, Timers, Temp & Humidity Monitor, Scale, Eye Droppers, etc.) All of these things are between $5 - $25 ea.
Then stock up on a few pest control items just in case, maybe a humidifier or dehumidifier which are also fairly cheap.
I'm assuming you already have a grow area with Fan & Carbon Filter & a light. So if you only have exhaust then add an intake fan & filter.
Just little by little buy stuff to improve your grow while you're learning how the plant grows, what it does & doesn't like, etc.

I wish I had pics of what I started with. You would laugh your ass off; but hey, it worked. I took a large cardboard box & lined it with foil. Took a 4 bulb bathroom vanity light & put 4 - 85 watt 6500 K CFL's in it & an Oscillating fan. Used GH Nutes & pH down. I got about 2.5 oz. per plant of fluffy but kick ass bud (Fire OG). Came out fluffy because of temps being too high.
So this shit will grow just about in any condition. You just have to perfect the conditions for larger yields.

I've decided on my seeds for the 5x5. (Need to kill some time while I wait to LST) I'm going with White Widow, Bruce Banger, Gorilla Girl & the Peyote Wi-Fi I already started for this grow. I got the 3 pots ready today so I'll drop the seeds tonight. That way they should be starting to sprout when I start the new journal.

Wow I learned something today!

Generally I take off the bottom nodes, single top, and then try to weight and/or manipulate the lower nodes to give them more light.

Quad-lining seems a lot smarter way to grow than trying to train lower nodes that are at a disadvantage.

But say if you are growing a petite plant with a fine frame structure it is a fun challenge to try to develop quality bud with the lower nodes that add to the aesthetics of the plant.
