Come Grow With Me: A Beginners Guide

So here's the girl at 10 days old.

In these pics you can see her leaves are starting to go limp because the soil is dry & she needs water. Droopy leaves are a good way to know when to water. The other method I use is pot weight. Before you water the 1st time in any pot get a feel for the weight dry. Then water, pick it up & feel the difference. You want to let your pot get close to the dry weight before you water again.

Here's a few pics of the root growth. It's not as packed as I normally would go but it has roots coming out the bottom & enough roots to up-pot.

you really opened my eye with the clear plastic cup and how you set it up. If i ever go back to soil, i would definitely do it this way. :bravo:

Like PK said, This Ink Bird is for RH control. Mine is for Temp Control. I believe they make one that does both.
right, but i believe the options are still the same, except for RH. We would just have temp

also, are you 100% positive on the manual it said we can stick the sensor in water>? lol, i could really use this to keep the temps of my res in place

So when I up-pot I remove the solo cup with the plant 1st of course. Then I remove the Holder.

I roll the cup back & forth between my hands to loosen the soil from the sides of the cup. Get the stem between my fingers & flip. I usually have to give the bottom a few good taps to get it to release.

Then just flip the plant over & right into the hole all in one shot. Spread the soil out even & she's ready to feed.

I'll let you know tomorrow after I finish reading the manual.

So I always feed right after I up-pot. So I mixed up 1 gr. of MC in a gal. of water & I pH'd it to 6.4. Like I said before; pH-ing is not required in a buffered soil. I really don't have to; but I like to stick with what I know works so I pH. So the 1st thing you should do is let your gallon of water sit out with no lid on it for 24 hours. It helps gas off chlorine. I've also noticed my pH drops down a little by letting it sit.
When water is ready I weigh up 1 gr. of MC & add it to the water & shake like hell. Not me, the gallon. I let it sit about an hour to let it dissolve the little balls in MC. Then shake again, let settle & pH it.
I started with a 7.4 pH & I had to use just a little over 2 ml. of pH down to get the gallon to 6.4 pH.

From there I feed. I start with the outer edges & work my way in. Outer edges getting the most water so the roots chase after it. I use 12 oz. cups & it took me 3 cups to get run off.

For the most part I up-potted because she is starting her 4th node. I want her to be well established when she gets that 5th node & I top her.

This is how I do it. I'm sure others have their own ways. Find the way that you're most successful with & then hone in on it.

Last night I got most of the duct work done on the 5x5. Today I made the Window Vent but haven't installed it yet.
I also got the new light today. No Pics yet. Sorry to keep you in suspense but I'll take pics later & post tomorrow.
Damned, all's coming together pretty smooth. Makes me feel like singing. Come on ya'all & sing along.

Roll, Roll, Roll a joint & take a swig of wine. Take a Toke & hold the Smoke & blow your F'n Mind !

Wow looking great. Your seedlings definitely took off a bit faster than mine. I'm going straight in the medium next time and skipping paper towel.

You mentioned hydro guard earlier in the journal. Are there any downsides to this? I was considering getting an air stone because I'm tired of mixing nutes every other day and prob every day soon enough.

Also I am definitely going to use your transplant method next time. Very nice.

well done @Buds Buddy we have the same ph pen and scale :laughtwo:

Hydro guard is an enzyme that prevents algae build up. They use it every couple days to keep the water good in Hydro grows. An air stone in your water bucket is a plus because it adds oxygen to the water which promotes root growth. Air stones aren't necessary; but more the icing on the cake.

OK ya'all, Are you ready to start growing ? Guess you wouldn't be riding the 420 Mag train if you weren't. Anyway, I'm going to keep this real simple while providing pics & details from start to finish. I'll be posting & adding pics throughout the day.
Today I'll be putting up the tent & all the necessary equipment. It's just a small 3' x 3' x 6' tent & I'm only doing 1 plant (Peyote Wi-Fi).
I'll be assembling the tent in a few minutes so I'll add pics. Hopefully this little grow will help some of the new guys out. My average is 9 oz. per plant; but I'm shooting for a 12 oz. grow this time & I'll be cloning along the way for those interested in that. I'm looking to grow this plant in the same manner I grew this one.

If I happen to run into issues somewhere or are unable to answer your question I do know the right people to call on for the correct answer.
So I'll see you all soon as I get this tent up & we'll get Rockin'.
Awesome, I certainly will learn a lot from you!!!

Hi all, Got the 5 x 5 done. I'll test run things tonight & start getting things 1/2 assed dialed in before I start any plants in it. Start Date on that grow will be the 1st. Saving the details for that grow for Mars Hydro. But here's what's done & a sneak peak at the tent set up.

Pic 1: Window Vent made & connected to bring cold air from outside. This has a 6" Booster fan with the Ink Bird Temp Control connected to it. I hope it works as planned & this fan will turn off & on at the temps I set it for.

Pic 2: Indoor Intake Air. 6" Fan & Filter brings air in to the tent from the house. Both Intake Lines (indoor & outdoor Air) are connected to a Wye Duct fitting & then a single line into the tent.

Pic 3: 6" AC Infinity Booster Fan connected to the Ink Bird.

Pic 4: Duct from Wye to the Tent to bring Intake Air in.

Pic 5 & 6 : Overall view of how the Duct runs.

I've got my Ink Bird, Fan Speed Controllers, Ballasts & Light Dimmer Switch all mounted outside of the tent for easy access & keep heat down.

If everything works as planned I should be able to run each intake fan separately or both at the same time with the fan for the outside intake air being controlled by the Ink Bird.
I'll know soon !

looks ready to me!! excited to see what comes out of that bug tent!

is that black pail a mix nutrient for the month?

Once I get to late veg / early flower they drink too much to mix a single gallon at a time. A 5 gal. bucket lasts 2 - 3 feedings in the later stages so I mix once a week at that point. That's why I add Hydro guard to the mix to keep it from getting slimed up.
