Closet Scrog Grow

re: BPN Closet Scrog Grow

I would go off of what Jakester posted...very thorough explanation of SCRog. The purpose of the screen is very similar to that of LST, what the "goal" is with these training methods, is to create more tops by "tricking" the plant into thinking it is broken. By training the branches sideways (by LST or Scrog) you are creating more auxin's (hormone) in that branch and the plant responds by turning upwards towards the light, as well as extending the lower budsides upward with new growth, promoting new tops.

If you flip to 12/12 before you fill up your screen, you are kind of defeating the purpose of the Scrog. I would definitely recommend that you fill up 80% of your screen BEFORE flipping to 12/12... you want the buds to grow above your screen and your plant to stretch upwards above the screen, not grow thru it.... To each there own, but this has been was has been successful 2x for me so far...

re: BPN Closet Scrog Grow

about your screen height....depends how long you want to wait for you ladies, as well as how much "bud" you want in the end... The longer you veg, the more bud you will have, plain and simple... So I would reccommend keeping the screen where it is and giving them 2 more weeks of veg, or whatever it takes until 80% of that screen is full.

Also having more distance between the screen and the pots is better for me, because it allow's easier trimming/lollipopping as well as watering and soil testing... I couldn't imagine doing a soil scrog with only 8" of space, but for hydro, would be fine...

re: BPN Closet Scrog Grow

damn this sounds hard. well i have 760w of HPS light and 4 plants

the screen size is about 58'' long and 21'' wide. thats how wide the closet is as well. Only a few of the tops of the tall plants are poking through. so do you think we should flip the lights now? or should we move the screen up and let them stretch a little longer?

re: BPN Closet Scrog Grow

i downloaded the program and will defiantly be using it to log data

I ordered a 5'x5'x7' Light house Hydro Grow tent. should be here by Thursday and i also have the beans coming from castle seeds should be here by next week. ill keep ya updated.

Im going to try and get the clones that have roots into the root pots tomorrow with fresh FFOF soil. ill post pics when i get around to it!

re: BPN Closet Scrog Grow

Yes, it's a free program called Herb IQ...
Just Google the name and it's the first site...

Rather slick program too, but of course it has a couple bugs in it...
But they're working on the bugs...

I really like it, because it shows exactly what I have going with the click of the mouse..
Tells me when my res.s need changed, tracks my plants, and shit even tracks my nutrient usage, bulb time in service, ballast time in service, etc. etc. etc...

:Namaste:

Thanks for the share brotha!!!

re: BPN Closet Scrog Grow

Man I have been working at it and I can't seem to get the nutrients tab down... I keep entering what I have on hand and it just keeps telling me "ERROR" you know the message!!! LOL

I also can't get my plant height to show on the bar graph!!!

I don't want to polute ILB's journal so PM me if you know what I might be doing wrong!!!

re: BPN Closet Scrog Grow

i thought i wanted to fill up the screen before i switched to flower, thats why i was asking if i should bring it down. the only nodes that are sticking through the screen are the tallest ones of each plant, i know my plants are going to double in size so you think i should move the screen up more? yours is only like a 8-12 inches above your DWC bucket

EDIT: i can switch to flowering any time i want. the sooner the better actually. so if i wanted to switch to flower in like a few days should i pull the screen down and fill it up more? and should i just leave it where it is and when the plant continues to grow in flower just pull the nodes through the screen once they are big enough?

every thing sitting above my screen, is new plant growth (developed after i switched to 12/12). you can do a scrog however you choose, all im saying is that you want to set everything up so that you get the most dispersion you can of all the branches, throughout that scrog net, how ever you choose to accomplish this is up to you, i just mentioned my method.

theres no right or wrong way to do it. all in personal preference..

re: BPN Closet Scrog Grow

Well thanks for that jakster, ill be sure to ask when i go to the store.

Well i got alot of good news! My order from Castle came in today. only took 7 days to get here shit im impressed! Came very discreet. i will defiantly use them again i advise any one who is thinking about ordering through them to follow through with it.

ill keep the seeds as "souvenirs" for now. but when i start em up ill do a new journal. Soon!

All Clones were moved from cloner and transplanted into 3gal root pots. The roots are like small white bunches. not to dangly which i think is good, that way they are easier to transplant then last time. Last time they had long tails and took them a while to recuperate from the shock. these ones are standing nice and firm. We used 2 big bags of FFOF soil. i think they are 1.5 cu ft so we used 3 cubic feet total for 9 pots/plants. when filling up the root pots i gave it a good shake to lightly compact the soil and give the pot shape. Then i lightly tampered the soil with my hand as i filled up the pot right to the top, then i poured about 1/4 gal of pH'd water through and let everything settle, then i made a small hole for the new clones and back filled em with dirt. Looks great to see 9 babys in there.

I ordered a 5x5 tent that we will be setting up this weekend and moving all 9 plants into it. as well as the florecent lights from the old tent.

The old 2x4 tent is going to become the cloning tent. we will move the whole aeroponic unit into the tent and keep a few florescent in there. I intend on building a modified version of my aerocloner. one that includes over 20 sites and that has a on/off drain valve at the bottom of tank so its easier to drain. All in time though.

Now for the 4 sexy bitches in the tent doing their scroggy thing. Plants have grown at least 3-4'' since we put them under the screen so i pulled the tallest nodes under the screen and moved it into a farther hole in the screen, the main stem is bent quite a bit since it had alot of room to move to a different hole but it was very flexible i don't think it will be to strenuous on it. I was able to bring alot more nodes that are farther down on the branches up to the light and make alot of light for the branches below the net so they can catch up.
I cut off the first 2 or 3 small branches at the base of the plant. I want to start early pruning and then when we switch the lights we will take alot of cuttings from underneath the screen and continue to prune accordingly. I also plucked off all the dead foliage i could find. Im starting to put some more time into that HERB IQ program its pretty night and a nice way to stay organized.

I know yall was expecting some pics but i will have them real soon. as soon as i find my Flash drive. ok thanks for checkin in later!

yay that program is real nice, its time consuming to enter everything in at first. but its really cool. i had added in the 2 plants i had harvested. i just went back through my journals and added in dates and heights and notes. The program is really good, what an awesomely free download.

Oh ya i forgot to mention that we mixed up another 5gal reservoir with BPN's Crazy Growth Formula. ONce that bucket is empty we will switch the lights to 12/12

Same here!!! This program is totally worth the time!!! after you input everything, its all about logging in the new information!!! it's also great cus you can save the date that you got certain seeds and they are inventoried for you as well, you can input the amount that you have on hand.

Now, all I have to do is go in the program, enter the notes mixtures for my nutes, OH and as jakester has shown me now, is that you can even know how much nutes you have on hand!!! it's totally a great time investor!!!
