CK’s Hibrix Adventures

It’s not always pretty, been making a few costly mistakes that I just recently figured out. First, I have been packing my soul down too densely and that has been making it harder for my roots to grow and get oxygen and also makes it a lot harder for it to dry out. On top of that been giving too much water and my plants are pissed off.

I transplanted everything into fresh soil that wasn’t all packed down and also made sure the roots were sliced a bunch more than I would normally do. I will let these girls dry out for a week and bounce them back before flip. Other than the the room is filled and ready once this is taken care of...

In veg it ain’t looking as bad...
I noticed with the lack of oxygen and overwatering it led to curling upward in the tops as well as dying growth in the bottoms and purple stems

Good morning to ya Kid. Yes, it's something i rarely talk about ...soil compaction while filling our pots. DO NOT compact our soil , or any other soil in the pots while filling. I made this mistake once , believing it would help...it DOES NOT. When filling pots , fill all the way to the top without pressing down or compacting as you fill it/them. Let it settle naturally .
If you suspect you have done this and your plants are suffering , then get a long poker tool of sorts and carefully loosen the soil up as best you can. Do not worry about disturbing the roots too much. They will recover nicely and appreciate the added O2 they now have. Cheers Kid....hard way to learn that lesson.

Hey Duggan, yes it is something that I’ve been doing since I have started growing and I think this is one of the underlying issues I’m having. I’ll definitely never do that again, I hate to see my girls look so sad....

Duggan, would a vibratory compaction also be too much settling in the kit soil? I was thinking putting a pot on a washing machine during spin cycle would help to better "settle" loose soils, but anything that vibrates enough to cause your soils to sink a bit more might be helpful. Just putting an idea out for consideration.

What’s up all, with it being 2019 and having had my garden 100% hibrix for a while now I figured it was time for a new journal. I have a bunch of exciting things going on this year as far as pheno hunting goes so I hope you all enjoy the cultivars I’ve chosen to hunt! Right now in flower I have Hells Angels OG X SunshineDaydream(bubbashine x Appalachia), Black Triangle(triangle kush X 88G13HP), Space Cake Remix( Forum cut GSC X Snow Lotus), Roadkill Unicorn({chem D X black widow} X snow lotus), Cherry Ghost OG/Cherry Royal X Afghani/OG18/78’Affie

The seedlings I have right now consist of Banana OG X Candy Apple Kush, Wedding Crasher X MAC, Tetra CBD.

I’ll have some pictures of everything here in a bit for you all!

As for the specs of my rooms, for flower we have a 8’x7’ room with 4 1000w HPS(2 DE & 2 SE bulbs), in the main veg we have a 4’x8’ area with a 630 CMH and 600w LED(off for now) and finally seedlings are under a 4ft 4 bulb T5(216w)

Hey man I'm subbed for this grow sounds like it should be a good one. I'm off to get caught up and hopefully see some good pics lol.

Here are the flower girls mid way through week 6 about day 46

Dam bro those are some beauties u got there congrats man. Dont u jus love the quality u get from docs kit lol. Here I had held off from getting the kit cause when ever I would see people talkn about using it they used the big words like the cationic drench and trans drench and so on that I thought it was guna be way WAY harder to do. But shit as soon as I did one run with it I was hooked and on my way to converting my whole garden to hibrix :headbanger:. Now I got enough soil to make the switch I'm jus finishing up my last run with my dyna-gro nutes. I'm now starting my next run with the kit. I got a few kits worth of soil now and this one that I'm starting with is with second run soil and I've heard this soil jus keeps getting better with each run. So I figured I'd use the 2nd run soil with my new genetics. I got 2 White Alien and a White Berry and an Ice Cream that are soon to be starting the full feed drenches cant wait lol. But yea I jus couldnt believe I actually wanted to wait to do this way of growing hahaha.

Thanks man, and that’s awesome! Glad to hear you finally made the switch! IMO it’s the only way to get true quality. Those genetics sound killer I bet they’ll be super tasty when they finish up!

Thanks man, just letting them dry out a bunch and giving very light watering like maybe once a week, doing mostly foliars to try and get the roots on track. Making sure to do 1/2 strength destress so they don’t get shocked out by too much Nutes while they’re in this fragile state

Yea I know doc says it's very important to let them fully dry out between waterings. Atleast till flower then u wana jus keep them moist. An so far doc and the gang havnt done me wrong so I listen to what ever they over there on docs thread hahaha.

A few tops that are having new growth, only one plant that is still struggling, so right now 11 of 12 are bouncing back forsure

Lookn good bro nice job with that netting/trellis. I've been wanting to do a net like this for awhile. But I feel it would be hard to move the plants around so never did it lol. Altho now tht I'll be doing HB growing in my whole garden. I'll be in 30 gal totes so they wont be moving anyway lol. So maybe it's the perfect time to try 1 out hhmmm I wonder lol. But yea the girls seem to be looking good man.

Yes you’re going to want to get all of your moving and transplanting done before they go into the trellis. Once they’re trellised they won’t be moving lol. The fun part is the day 21 defol

Well see heres the thing with highbrix growing. You need as many leaves as u can. Cause they use those to transfer all that energy around to make those big buds. The budsites dont need light they need energy. But the leaves need the light to make energy. Then transfer it to the budsites. So I'm now trying to do a different type of training for my plants then what I used to do which was defoliation. I now try and do leaf tucking EVERY chance I can versus clipping the leaf off. With highbrix the more leaves the more energy ur plants can move around to get bigger buds atleast that's my unprofessional opinion . This is some of the info I've gathered from asking the highbrix crew all my various questions lol. But yea I definitely dnt wana use that trellis idea till I put them into the 30 gal totes. I start them out like normal plants and jus upsize there pots as they get older. But there final home will be a 30 gallon tote filled with highbrix soil. 2 plants per tote man that's guna be some major fun. I plan to run like 5 to 6 totes at once. So guna be swimming in highbrix buds :headbanger::rofl:.

I agree but also think cultivar is a huge factor, I think a light defol on every girl is good but how far you go depends on the that certain cultivar and to know that you have to get a feel for what that certain one likes
