Chief's 2nd Try: Kindsoil Round 2

Veg Tent Update:

Everything is looking pretty good but today is watering day for both tents so I have some ACT brewing since yesterday should be done later tonight when I get home. Took me forever to find some molasses or I would of been brewing teas a while ago.

The Harlequin x NL are looking good. They are almost root bound in the solo cups so they will get up potted this week most likely. I normally like to keep them in the solo cups until I can sex them because I hate wasting soil on males. But at least it looks like the roots like the Kindsoil.

The Annunaki cross is looking great before we only had like 6 tops now we have more than I care to count. And I will still be able to take clones just in case it’s a keeper like I think she will be a least for a few more times. She has pretty much taken the whole 2x2 I want to cover at least a 2x3 area maybe even the whole 2x4 but we will see when the Stankberrys finish so I can move things around.

Lovely training on the annunaki cross sir! That’s a beautiful sight to behold!

With regards to molasses, not sure where you are, but you can usually find some at a farm/feed supply store if there are any in your area :thumb:
Great idea. I didn't think of that. I have gotten it from a smokehouse restaurant by the gallon.

Didn’t think of that but moved to a new place a couple months ago and the grocery store right next to me had it. And I was looking everywhere else lol

Sub'd for the Hukleberry flower pics.

Is that an Annunaki strain? Just curious.

Looks mighty fine there buddy.

Gonna get some cola city going there I'm thinking.

Yes it’s Annunaki tester they sent with an order. I ran it before in a solo cup as a tester and it was so good. I was sad I didn’t clone either one. Then I got 2 males and only had one seed left. I got lucky this is a female here is pics of what I’m hoping for.

Flower Update:

We are in Week 9, Day 58 of flower and things are going well. Stankberry# 1 is definitely going to go at least 11 weeks maybe a little longer I guess time will tell. The pistols on Stankberry#2 are still mostly white so I’m gonna guess at least 2 more weeks for this girl also. But I’m going to pull the loupe out soon

Funny...I am on day 69/70 and I cut testers to scope today. They all looked like they were mostly cloudy to me. I am going to let them go to 77 and chop em. If you think they are ready....give em a week. I still see a good amount of white pistils on your buds.

Last one I grew I took at 62 but I was also using malted barley to speed up flower. Stopped using it for a bit and didn't use it in this batch of soil or any top dressings. Think I am going to start running it again and see what my flower times look like again.

Ya the number of white pistols is why I don’t think it’s done. Definitely going to give it at least another week. The other one has no amber trichs at all so I’m guessing 3 weeks at least for that one.

I’d go by bud swell and whether or not it looks done, forget trichs. Just my opinion everyone, not intended as an argument.

Ya we will let them go until it’s done completely. I’d hate to harvest knowing I could of gotten more. And I do love bud that knocks me out so it’s all good if the trichs are amber.

Get it all. I think it’s all kinda bullshit anyway. My feeling is amber trichs were only ever meant to be a guiding compass that’s “close enough” for most strains so ppl who wanted to grow wouldn’t get too far off track, but like so many other things it got turned into gospel. If I’m a master pizza maker that specializes in thin crust artisan cheese and my pies come out picture perfect with a 45% golden outer crust along the bottom...I’m probably going to tell anyone who asks that if you want a perfect pizza - that’s what you need to do. But what if you make deep dish instead of thin crust, or use a different type of oven than I do, or saturate more sauce and use cheaper cheese than I do? Your pizza will probably be fine at 45%, but maybe not as good as it could be with an 85% golden outer crust instead of 45%.

That’s where common sense enters the picture and you just have to take a step back and look... We all know what good weed looks like and what we’d be stoked to see in a bag/ jar (and usually we don’t need a microscope to determine that).

If a Sativa is a “daytime” strain, but harvested with too many amber trichomes makes you tired... or an indica is a “nighttime” strain, but if it’s harvested with clear trichs it’s super racy and makes you alert...kinda makes none of it relevant IMO. What ever happened to just getting high and having a dumb/ lackluster sense of humor? I don’t know about you guys, but I was definitely getting high during the day and the night with anything I could find labeled “kind buds” and never seemed to have a problem or find myself searching for a microscope. But now I do, which tells me I’ve gotten too far off track.

Let the damn weed swell folks.

Here is why I look at trichomes, as do most of the growers I've encountered here:

Researchers are discovering that the effects of cannabis are less related to the (now relatively meaningless) strain "types" and more related to the type of terpenes dominant in the buds.

We now know that THC degrades to CBN, indicated by the trichomes going amber. We also know that CBN is the cannabinoid that causes couchlock or body-stone.

Knowledge being power, taking a plant when it's the way you like it can based on all those factors, and certainly not a generally prescribed ratio of clear:cloudy:amber. But without looking at the trichomes at all (as a guiding compass), we don't know any of these things.
