Chef De Green Does It All: Reveg, Clones, Autos & Photos

Flip them..…….flip them all! Pop more beans !! Speaking of beans how long do you guys think it takes for newly harvested, mature seeds to dry completely to the point you want to put them up and store them? I was told by a trusted friend who breeds all his own seeds that 1 month is ideal. He says that under 1 month drying time your rate of successful germination drops X% for every couple days under 1 month. I think this calls for an experiment!

I just harvested (yesterday and today) these Jellium X Alien OG fem seeds off of my Alien OG plant. I'm going to spread them out on a piece of paper towel. At one week I'll try to germinate a seed. At two weeks I'll try another. Week three, same thing. Curious to see if a seed drying for 1 week will germinate.
That’ll be an interesting experiment! I’ve also heard to dry them for 30 days before you store/pop.

oh she’s flipped alright! We’ll see how she stretches. My NL clone is gonna have to just hang out in the veg tent a few weeks. I can’t wait for my Grandpa Glue to get nice and big In her new pot!

Here’s something interesting.

As I was saying before, my Xanadu has really wide leaf fingers. The Sour Bubba has fingers that are a bit skinnier, maybe she’ll be more ECSD leaning or in the middle.

The Grandpa Glue is one strain you'll want to keep up-potting every 2-3 weeks till you end up in a 10 gallon pot. She won't grow tall on you nor will she get too wide. That's one you want to let grow into a nice big bush. Your mason jars will thank you for it.

My Alien OG is in her final week in the flowering tent. I expect to harvest her on Sunday and get her trimmed up. She took up a lot of space in my flowering tent.

You think the need for more root space is what’s causing the yellowing? She had been in the 1 gallon for probably 2.5 weeks. also have you ever noticed any variegation in the GG s1s?
She won’t end up in a 10 gallon pot. Everyone finishes in a 5 now.

wow she ended up so big! I don’t remember her being that large. She looks sturdy though like my NL.

As I gain more experience one thing I notice when a plant is ready to be up-potted is that the plant just looks a little droopy. Not like when it's thirsty...…...not as drastic as that. It's a subtle thing that I notice. When I suspect a plant is ready to be up-potted I'll let her dry out to the point she just starts to droop (thirsty droop) and pull her out of her pot for a look. If she is I up-pot her right then. If not I water/feed her right then and figure out why she's looking droopy.

I have only grown one of the Grandpa Glue seeds out and don't recall seeing or noticing any variegation on the leaves. As far as I know that is not an issue. My first Grandpa Glue was grown from the original clone I got. I flowered her in a 5 gallon fabric pot and I seem to remember the dry weight being about 70 grams. The Grandpa Glue I grew out from seed finished in a 7 gallon fabric pot in my organic soil. I let her veg an extra 3-4 weeks. Final tally was 157 grams.

Very nice Beez. How did the quality differ from clone to s1? She’s not looking droopy, just yellowing from the bottom up. I upped her feed when I transplanted her, that should help. How did you grow the clone? With MC?

the way I can tell a plant needs to go up is by pushing down on the soil around the edge of the pot. If it’s stiff with roots, she’s probably ready to go up.

Hey beez,

I dried mine in the bud until it was crispy, then separated the seed, put in a jar with some silica gel (desiccant beads) and put them in the fridge. Popped 20 a couple days later with 19 of 20 cracking within 24 hrs.

I generally don't try to germinate seeds I've bred for at least 30 days after I harvest them. No particular reason other then it's just worked out that way. These Jellium S1 seeds I'm trying to get to pop are being stubborn. Today I took one and looked at it really closely and think I may see the problem. The Jellium plant is really sticky with resins and this resin is all over the seeds as you can see in this photo.

Here is another Jellium seed that looked just like the one in the photo. But this one I scarified in my little plastic bottle of white sand. It got all the "gunk" off the seed. I think this will have a whole lot better chance of germinating then the uncleaned one.

Just busting up a bowl of the star pupil that was hanging. It’s smelling like cough drops. I took it down today, trimmed and jarred it. I put it into the fridge sealed. It was the worst of the batch, all of the good nugs are still on trays. I’m gonna vape some this morning. Probably 14 of the 100+ grams

hey beez just a little about the stubborn seeds recently ive gone as far this is after they've soaked for a few days squeezing them just enough until it cracks open then back on the germ plate and wait for the tail it worked pretty well next time I germ some seeds im first going to try your method or something like that then the seed cracking will be the last resort.

Good on you for supporting a local bakery. We need more of that.
I dry in my fridge and I have an extra closet with my growing supplies that has space up high for hanging.
my veg tent has moms, clones, new plants, and the plants that are nearly ready for flower. I think I’m going to try either a DWC auto or a hempy auto in my veg tent pretty soon.

you are welcome to take a seat and follow along with me as I begin my journey into bimonthly harvests. I’m really excited at the possibility of harvesting ~25 plants per year. I’ll be able to get through my whole seed collection in just a few years.

This is great thread to follow, and I'd love to learn more about how to harvest a plant every few weeks.

I'm still at the stage where I'm trying to get a growing style down that works for me. Ultimately though, I want to feel like I'm getting decent quality/yield while still learning and having fun - this is a great hobby to have! :)

Thanks DrCanna! you and I both will be learning about harvesting every few weeks! I’m about 9 weeks out from my first girl coming down, then we’ll be doing one girl every few weeks. Two a month is my ideal goal. It is definitely important to have your methodology down first though.

I really like your idea!!!

And when I think about it - I picture a factory assembly line.

As the plants go down the line, from veg to flower, they are getting bigger and bigger.

Then, when we harvest a plant, we want to move another plant in.

For me, the trick would be how to manage the free space in the flower tent, and prevent crowding in the veg tent.

Let me see if I can think this through:

We use an 8 week photoperiod strain.
The strain at harvest needs 4 sq feet (2'x2').
So 2 plants and we harvest every four weeks - we use a 2'x4' tent.
So 4 plants and we harvest every two weeks - we use a 4'x4' tent.
So 8 plants and we harvest every one week - we use a 8'x4' tent.

The trick then is to know: how much space one plant needs at harvest & how long it takes to flower - these are set by the genetics of the strain and the expressing phenotype.

Hmmm - if we used autoflowers - we would only need one tent running at 20-4 or 18-6 - interesting indeed. :)

I'mm sure there are other variations to this - but am I close to your approach?

yeah you’ve pretty much got it right. The only thing is, not all of my strains are =/<8weeks, some are 9-10. So I’ll be playing it kind of loose, I think every 3 weeks maximum is a good number. Also I don’t have a 4x4 for flowering, I’ve got a 2.67’x2.67’. So my plants will have to take up 1.33’x1.33’, or 1.78ft^2. Being finished in 5 gallon pots, I’m gonna have a lot of plant growing for that amount space, but I’m comfortable with the idea of squeezing it all in.

also my veg tent is only 20”x36”. At any one time, I will have 1) 5 gallon plant ready to go into flower, 1) 3 gallon pot on deck to go up to 5 then flower, 2-3) 1 gallon plants and 3-4) solo cup girls that will eventually flower 3) moms in solo cups. It’s tight, but I can make it fit (thats what she said).

Very nice.

I've thought about trying to force one to open and see what it does. The problem I face is big hands and fat fingers. I might try it with tweezers and a scalpel once though. Just lightly score around the crack.

I
@ilikemsticky and @beez0404 ive gotta just comment that I’ve never had luck with squeezing a seed til it just cracks. I always end up with squashed embryo
hey guys I used a hemostat you no one of those doctor clamps I used one for a roach clip back in the day anyway they don't always work but if it doesn't open on its own your not getting anything anyway but I sqeezed it very slowly applied steady pressure and squeeze it just until it cracks open then I put it back on the germ plate and wait for the tail to start emerging :)
I had to manually remove the seed from this one!
