Thanks BAR!
So glad to be back at it.
UPDATE
Snowbound, and I had some time to sit and write today (and plenty of cured Cotton Candy), so it's a bit of a scroll. I hope it's not too long.
All of the girls are showing signs of flowering today. To start my clock for 'flowering', I do not use pistils. I wait till the leader tip starts to change from looking like sprouting leafs, to a small centered knot. Once I can detect the start of the tip change, is when I start my count. I do not wait for the process to complete though - as I feel that that development is part of the flowering period. This way of counting has been more reliable for me, when timing out plants, and reading breeders recommendations.
ASD Flower 2/7
BD Flower 2/7
CL1 Flower 2/7
CL2 Flower 2/6 (Smudgy the Male)
HG69 Flower 2/7
Kush Flower 2/7
All of the girls are doing really well, although not all of them are girls.
CL2 (smudgy) didn't show sex until flower, and instead of calyxes, she's got balls.
I'll come back to that. In her absence, BD and ASD will spread out, and I'll stop pruning them to allow for more side branches. I doubt that the loss of the 1-of-6 will change my ending yield by much. So, 5-Fems 5-Strains.
I've done a very light defol over the last week, maybe 50 leafs total from all plants. Had I only had the 5 plants at the time, I wouldn't have pulled as many. They have received nutrients with their last three irrigations, with Base nutes @ 5ml/gal (31% strength), and supplements listed on page1 of this journal @ (25% strength). I cannot take them out of the tent during daylight, so these pics were taken with CFLs and my cellphone. A few of the cuttings I took a week ago have started to root, so I already have rooted backups of ASD and both CLs. The remaining 9 clones all seem to be viable, and I expect them to make it. I'm sure I'll figure out some good use for them.
Maybe I'll run them with some F2 Candylands
I may soon have some extra space to play around with such things.
Ken's Candyland, CL1, Born, 12/10 Topped 12/28, final pot 1/8, Flower 2/7
I'm not sure how she's going to go as she's so short at 14" from soil, but she's looking good. She's moderately nute, temp, RH and light sensitive, while also being a bit hungry.
Sounds like a typical woman. :
: She seem to prefer a fairly narrow and moderate temp range, and higher humidity in veg. She's a fair bit fussy imo. This pheno is not what I would recommend to a beginner, but I only have these two plants to go by. Some info, is better than no info maybe. I suppose if growing them again, it would be pretty easy, but 'finding' them was a little bit of a challenge. Beautiful plant though. I think I can see something special, I just don't know of it's worth the extra effort yet. The interruption might have upset her too - I'm just sensing something's not 100% with her. That just goes to show how lucky I've been this run, she's my 'clunker'.
Ken's Candyland, CL2 (Smudgy) Born, 12/10 Topped 12/28, final pot 1/8, Flower 2/7(Male)
CL2 is a male. He's got a more open and taller structure than his sister - so - I'm considering keeping him around for a bit to chuck some of his pollen on CL1 for some seeds. I would then chop him, and then reuse the soil for my next Reg seed, as there will be 'male' hormone in the soil.
BD, Born, 12/10 Topped 12/29, final pot 1/8, Flower 2/7
Still loving this plant. I took three clones, just to make sure. Other then topping her once, I've done very minimal training on her, she just wants to grow this way. She evened herself out so well.
She's 28" from soil.
Master Kush, Born 12/11, final pot 1/8
She is elegant in her symmetry. Deceptively simple looking, but the details are quite nice. I didn't highlight it in the pics, but she's got a really deeply cupped fan leaf. I'll post it next time. Really liking how she grows, and she's smelling great. She likes to be fed, but likes to be dry - so high porosity is almost a must for her. Super easy plant to grow IMO, she doesn't complain, but will glow if you treat her right. She's 22" from soil.
HolyGrail69, Born 12/11, final pot 1/8
Another cool plant. She's just like hanging out, and slowly pushing up her lower canopy. I rotate the other girls, but this one is just set up for being side lit. I'll leave her in one place. She's got some high indications of polyploidism. She's got three consecutive nodes where she put out three branches/leaf sets. Most of her leafs are double serrated, and they are of a high count (20). She strongly stinks like a combination of every pot plant you ever smelled - almost like it seems like it changes minute to minute. She's about 28'' and a skinny minnie.
HSO Amherst Sour Diesel, Born, 12/10, final pot 1/8, Flower 2/7
I can't wait. Also looks to be polyploidal. Drinks a lot. N demanding, but not sensitive. She's easy to clone, and she's got that ChemD smell. I've got some high hopes. She's also 28".
I'm thinking of knocking up my CL1 with some CL2 pollen about three weeks prior to chop..or whenever I need to - I gotta look into that. If anyone has any advice, I'm all ears. First time I'd be getting seeds on purpose.
I would like to paint a lower branch with pollen
, as late as I can prior to harvest, as these two phenos are different, and I feel they might produce some nice F2's.
Peace and love.
