Carestaker's Chemdawg Crosses In Soil & Coco - 2016

One of the reasons I moved back to OR. For the most part oregon has done it right, kind of dropped the ball on concentrates but I digress. Let's pop some beans!! I need to learn all I can before my second grow.

I wonder what it would take to emigrate to colorado...hmm... Maybe I should take part in the greencard lottery

400 friggin dollars... I can get it for half that... You know like on the highway.... I thought the dispensary was less expensive... Jeez... I think I'll keep growing my own... Thanks for the PTW... I'm out of that one... Hurry up and get this party started...:)....:circle-of-love:

My old 'guy' had far better, for less. :) They just recently opened, so I'm hoping they will get better as they dial in.

We are getting started in just a moment. Seeds are in Spring water right now soaking. :circle-of-love:

Amen, CareStaker. If we get legalization without the right to grow for ourselves then it will be a dreadful mistake. Just as I have the legal right to make wine or beer, I should have the right to grow this plant for my and my family's own consumption. It will be interesting to see how it all falls out over the next few years.

Looking forward to your Sunday update!

I agree 100%. Any bill for legalization, without cultivation rights for all, is a corrupted bill in my view. We may have a vote coming this year, for full legal. If it doesn't have a robust cultivation provision, I'll vote 'nay', till it does. :Namaste:

For me the entire point is to be able to grow my own. It's ridiculous. It doesn't require a still, no heat or fire. It's a vigorously growing weed. It grows all by itself. If it's ok to have and to consume, then ergo, fer cryin' out loud, it's ok to grow! Sheesh.

Of course it's ridiculous - it's all a load of steamy crap. From Crapington DC. Oh, but, but, we have to do it for the children?! Oh please. Like any bureaucratic institution on steroids cares about any of us. /rant :passitleft:

Looking forward to the start of the show Carestaker!

I've been a medical patient for years here in WA state. I'm downright pissed the Microsoft millionaires bought their way into the legal market and have made sure no one can grow here except big business (look it up). Even our medical rights have been raped.

I used to have a sense of entitlement before legalization, now I feel like a chump. Serves me right. This state has made a mockery of legalization. 20 bucks a gram for top shelf and it sucks compared to homegrown.

Colorado and Oregon have done it right IMHO. Every citizen of the state can grow their own. They killed the black market but yet they are still making big dollars at the dispensary.

Stupid wa state lol. :circle-of-love: Wow its late!:Namaste:

Let's hope a follow up bill can put some justice back into the state. It's got to come from the people, and not the friends of those that are selling us out at every level of .guv. Not that I'm mincing words, but it's getting way to fascist up in here for my taste. I'm guessing we are on the same page there from your post!

I agree, OR did a pretty great thing, especially if you focus on the positive aspects. Happy to hear you landed in a good place. Beans are in water! Excited to get started. :cheer:

As much as I complain about things, the US is still a great place to live. It would be better with more weed though. :) Maybe that means you're supposed to come. :high-five:

Happy Growing!!! :volcano-smiley:

Thanks Justa, pefect timing!!! We are just starting the grow. :volcano-smiley:

Four bills for 1 zip? I bet that was hard to swallow especially knowing it can't be on par with CS grown buds. Better get your grow on brother!

I'm trying to remain positive about my experience there, as they just opened recently, but yeah, you pretty much nailed it. It IS time. Glad you're here my friend. :passitleft:

I've got the grow started, and will post and update in just a few minutes. I need some inspiration. :volcano-smiley:

UPDATE: Getting Started

Strains can change at any time, but these are now soaking:

HSO Bubba's Gift
Connoisseur Genetics Chem D Cookies
Connoisseur Genetics East Coast Cookies
Connoisseur Genetics East Coast Sour Diesel Haze
Connoisseur Genetics Super Silver Sour Diesel Haze

Mostly C.G. beans, with the one HSO seed, being Bubba's Gift. I really like HSO. BGift was a freebie, and I've seen some stellar grows of her, so I had to drop her too. I excluded the 707 Truthband from the roster - I think 5 will be enough. If all live, I'll run the BGift in the middle spot, and then one 4 in each corner. If not, I have a Chem91 x G13, or Buddha Tahoe OG will replace whatever didn't make it.

Beans in their starter homes, with about 50ml of water each. I put them in the dark, and they are soaking. In the morning, they will go back into the same cups, with soil in them.

These seeds will be put straight into FFOF. I have yet to have an issue with that, provided I don't get them too wet, too early. I just keep the top 1" wet, and I don't soak the soil. I feed 5-10ml of Spring water, maybe 2-3x a day by hand. I did a quick tutorial in the last journal, so that people don't have to buy extra starter soil.

I was looking to do something a little different. I was thinking of running a couple of plants in full coco-organics. I will be traveling though, and busy with work, so I will need a mix that can be left for a few days without needing a feed, or automation. High percentage coco blends need to be fed more frequently.

As of now, I'm leaning towards 60% FFOF, 25% Royal Gold Basement Mix, and 15% perlite. I'll call Royal tomorrow, and see what ratios they recommend for the feeding schedule I'm looking for. I'll add Azomite for silica and trace, and Dolomite for Ca/Mg, and some powered humic and mycos. I don't feed any 'grow' nutes at all, and usually don't feed any nutes at all, till after week 4 of Veg. I am thinking of Vegging 7 weeks, which is more than my norm. I'll also be moving up to 5 gallon fabric pots. I've been using 3's for years, and they are great to work with, as they dry pretty quickly. I'm still thinking of nute and feeding schedule, but I may run the Sensi pH perfect, due to my coco/soil choice. I feel that some pH buffers might work well with the blend, and will help avoid pH imbalance and lockouts.

I'll detail my methods as I go. Lighting in flower will be supplied by one HPS at 600W, and one Advanced LED XML350 at 330w = 930w. The footprint is 55"x55" tent. Starts will be under 2-4 Agrosun 42w 6500K CFLs for the first week. The LED will be used in Veg thereafter, also in flower.

If all goes well, we should have some beauties. This is the what I'm looking for in terms of health and color - some pics of the last run. HSO Blue Dream. They are about 5 weeks here I think.

The strains are as closely related as any run I've ever had. It will a be a great opportunity to look deeper for the differences between them, and learn a bit about I'm looking at. If I end up with 5 plants, I'll let them grow tall. If I only get 4, I'll widen them into more of a square shape, and then let the stretch take them upwards.

Happy to have everyone here. Feel free to help out, add input, and ask questions. I'll be updating each step of the way until we are in flower, and then it will be once a week.

Subscribed Carestaker, now that you have the new toys lets light this rocket.

Dennise, LA can you ask the big guy in the white shirt to please pass back some popcorn, thanks.

High drcannabi, I just received my third Med card, the legal guys in my Dr. office showed me the July 1st law. If you have a MMJ card and choose not to be on the registry you can grow 4 plants and have 6oz of usable flower, if you have a MMJ card and choose to register you can grow up to 15 plants and have 16oz of usable flower plus CCO and edibles (not sure of those amounts without looking it up) I thought Wa. St. was going to screw it up but I think it turned out okay for medical card holders. But I don't think it's legal to grow Cannabis without a Medical card.

:love::cco::love:

Good news. 5/5 beans sunk and cracked in ~5hrs. I do push them down once or twice to try to sink them, but that's as quick as I can remember a full tent cracking.

I'm warming up the soil (it was in the car) and they are getting planted in the next few hours. :cheer:

Thank you for setting out your goals and expectations so clearly, CareStaker. It will be a pleasure to follow along and learn, especially since you're growing so many CG strains. And I don't think I've ever seen healthier or happier plants than the photos you posted of your last grow. Inspiring!

:thanks: GGrass. I'll do my best with these new ones. Pleasure to have you. :high-five: These will be my first CG beans, and I'm hoping there's some magic in there. :Namaste:

Awesome bud... can't wait for this to take off and see what you pull out of the hat.

Those blue dreams you posted are the picture of extreme health. I love it when my plants look like that.

Me too brother, I'm hoping for some strong vibrant girls. I love when your plants look like that too. :high-five:
Flower pics are great, but the reaching greenery of a plant in veg, can be just as captivating.

Taking a deep breath and diving into another grow journal... subbed... expectant... having fun :)

Dive right in brother :welcome: We got some fun planned, welcome to Chemfest 2016. I'm hoping for a great show for us all.:cheer:

Yeah for sure bud. Last night I opened up the tent, and just stood and stared for about 10 min. I was stoned though. LOL!

UPDATE: The seeds look to be a mix of sizes, and they just went into the dirt, so we should arrive at Day 1, by Wed/Thursday. They don't really have tails, but they are cracked and germed, so they were put into the soil, just 1/4 below the surface. I try to drop them pointy side down, or on their side, so that they don't have to adjust their direction.

IMAG62261.jpg

While it's not ideal, it's very possible to sprout right into FFOF. If you look at the pic, you can see that only the center of the cups are wet. I watered them in with about 50ml of water each. I reuse the same water they sprouted in, for the first few days. Probably some good stuff in there, or maybe it does nothing, I don't really know, but it can't hurt. I'll then water by hand with a tablespoon, and hit them maybe 3x a day with 10ml, or just enough to keep the top of the soil, where the seed is - wet. When I water, my goal is to keep the taproot wet, just below the surface, while not soaking the soil. Soaking the soil will push out oxygen, and will make N less available.

This is just a small batch. If I were sprouting a higher volume of seeds, for SOG, I'd use peat plugs, and would follow Cultivator's tutorial.

I'm hoping for 5/5. :cheer:

It's that same dude right!?! He keeps getting up to go somewhere. :volcano-smiley: We are all systems go - 60. :high-five:

Yeah for sure bud. Last night I opened up the tent, and just stood and stared for about 10 min. I was stoned though. LOL!

The very best way to observe them imo. :) I get stuck like that, for a long, long time, and I enjoy every second. I tell the wife I was meditating, and she understands. ;)

Yeah man, plants need positive vibes too. What better way to send it, than with jedi like stoner focus. :tokin:

If your breath became even, and your shoulders relaxed as tension drained from your neck, and your mind was on pleasant thoughts - or no thoughts, that counts as meditating :)
