Cardboard Flowerbox Test 3 - 41 Week Perpetual SOG

re: Cardboard Flowerbox Test 3 - 41 Week Perpetual SOG

damn i got a lot to catch up on, i spent a few hours last night getting the seeds out of the 3 buds i pollenated, i was shocked at how many i got, id say the weight of the bud is about a quater, and i got over 300 seeds, the buds was surrounded with seeds and when i broke the bud open it was just full of seed pods, took me ages to get the seeds out, i ended up with loads of finger hash on my gloves, i thought id end up with a few seeds, but instead i got hundreds, after i got them out i gave them a good squeeze and some broke and had nothing inside so not sure what happened with them, id say out of 20 seeds id get 1 that broke when squeezed and had nothing inside, so these went in the bin, i put some in the fridge to do a quick germination test and took them out after 24 hours, so i soaked about 10 to see how many would sprout, then ill cross the best male and female from the bunch and try and get the strain more stable,

but im happy with what i got and if it means i get female plants with nice buds then im not to bothered if the strain is stable or not, i wont be selling the seeds but i might passs some on to a select few friends so they can try them, just need a name now, its a reserva privada sour kush cross with a kiwi seeds male unknown, im trying to get caught up with your jounals mate, its taking me a while cuz ive not been on for a couple of days and these journals move real quick

re: Cardboard Flowerbox Test 3 - 41 Week Perpetual SOG

exactly mate, i put a tiny bit of pollen on 3 bud sites thinking id end up with a hand full of seeds, instead i got hundreds, but on the plus side only the buds i put pollen on gave me seeds, the rest of the plant was seed free, so it can all be smoked, i just never thought id end up with that many seeds from less than a 1/4 of bud, really shocked me, imagine how many seeds you can get with a full plant, it would be in the thousands, these seed banks must be making fortunes, or the breeders, i means some seeds are £50 for 10 seeds, ive seen some for £40 per seed some doggy strain or something like that, and thats per seed, a plant full of seeds of that strain would give the breeder thousands in profit, if i had the room and it was legal then id be making my own strains for sure, their is huge profits to be made.

their is more money in seeds than their are in selling bud, crazy , really crazy, but i wont be selling none of these, ill be giving some away as long as they germinate, so a few select people will have the chance to sample these seeds, but not till ive sampled the buds myself, it might be a load of crap but the plants i crossed where nice plants so im hoping for some very nice bud.

the ak47 cross uk cherry cheese is a great strain and gives nice buds so ive crossed this with itself to give me more seeds and ive crossed this with an auto, so all been well ill have some nice plants, and im hoping ill have some auto seeds, i know most wont be auto but if i get a male and female that is auto and cross them with each other then im hoping this will keep them as autos,
i wont be crossing anymore for a while, dont want to risk getting pollen on my other plants, ive taken the risk and its paid off but it would only take 1 mistake to ruin a room full of fem plants, so for now im done with breeding, plus ive got more seeds than ill ever need for a good while

re: Cardboard Flowerbox Test 3 - 41 Week Perpetual SOG

did you wait till the seeds fell out the buds or did you help them come out, i harvested the plant and left the seeded buds on the plants for a further 3 weeks, i then waited till the pods where popping open then harvested these buds, the seeds looks like they should do, some split when i squeezed them but hardly any did this, but the ones that did pop open had nothing at all inside, i did check a hard seed to make sure they had something inside and they did so the hard seeds should be viable, i used paper towel method to check so ill know within a day or 2, im waiting on this auto to finish so i can get the seeds from that but the seeds seem really small on the auto, the seed pods are opening and splitting at the side but the seeds seem really small when compared to the none auto seeds

Looking good Jandre. I think it's great you are working on your own strains. Myself I have no sense of smell. Sight and smell is what ya need when trying to breed a strain. I have to use a smell chart to understand what I'm smelling. They work too. This is from Greenhouse Seeds. But you start in the middle and work your way out.

Hey Jandre, I have a few questions on seeds
i apparently have a WW that hermied. No other plants produced seeds but this one plant thank god.
The seeds themselves look pretty green and I don't know if they are even worth trying to plant. Is there a process to drying the seeds? I'm going to assume that since they came from a hermied plant they are more likely to hermie as well?
Some seed education for me would be helpful my friend.
And as always I thank you for the imformation thats alwats spot on

Well... others will debate this, but I've had seeds from a hermied plant that DID NOT hermie on their own... The original hermied plant felt stressed for some unknown reason, and gave me seeds. All of the sprouted seed that came up were female, and looked exactly like the parent plant. One major difference set them apart. I expected at least one to hermie, and supply me with more seeds. Under my watchful eye they grew, matured, started to flower, and finished all 11 weeks of flower it took for the mother, and not a damn one hermied out of 54 seeds. Little bitch parent plant was just a drama queen is all I can figure. Conditions were exactly the same and everything. I did separate one out and light stressed the shit out of her to force hermie so I could get some seeds, though, and that one did hermie. So, plant 55 did hermie under light stress/erratic light timing, and I got seed from her. Out of those over 400 seeds for the next few years, I did have 2 or 3 hermie on me, but I separated them out and let them do their thing so I could have more seeds. Then things got a little too hot, and I got out of the kitchen, and I have not been back. I'm sure my seed stash has been ravaged my time by now.

Anyway, on to the less inflammatory part of my answer.

If the seeds look blonde/green/pale it does not always mean the seed is not mature. Usually it does, but it's worth sewing a few to see if they grow, just to be sure. The difference here is this: if your plant gives you nice dark seeds, with lots of pattern like those above, the blonde seeds from that plant will most likely NOT germinate. If those do, I'd be surprised if they last through teens and make it to flower.

However, I have seen some of the "White" strains actually give blonde seeds. There was a "Great White Shark" going around that I got a blonde seed out of a bag I bought just to try it out, and it sprouted. That damn 1 seed grew over 3 feet in the spring and I had to start tying her down throughout the summer because I was afraid that she'd get too tall and get pummeled by the thunderstorms and high wind that happens in the late Texas summers. She ended up over 6 feed wide and 5 feet tall.

My moral here is don't let someone tell you that all blonde seeds are bad seeds.

Now as for drying the seeds, I have a system worked out that I can hang the seeded buds inside a paper grocery bag and let the buds dry in there. That way, as seeds fall out of the chaff as it opens with drying, the seeds aren't lost in the floor. I just give the bag a good once over to make sure there aren't any in the folds at the bottom of the bag before refolding it and shoving it back into storage when I'm done. Other than that, once dried "On the vine" as it were simply remove them with tweezers, toothpick, whatever you can, and if you're going to smoke the bud left after the seed have been removed, just check your material before burning to make sure you don't toast a seed.

Hey, I just wanted to say "thank you" for the MOTM nomination. Never thought I'd be in that group. Your part of the reason I actually won. You have taught me a lot and I thought a thank you publicly was in order.

ROFL! Thanks? You deserve it!

OH!! By the way!! 10-01-2012 was my anniversary here! And all I have to show for it are some great friends that I hope I never EVER lose, and a whole shitload of new knowledge in growing hydroponically, inside, small-scale.

Thank you all for making it a wonderful year! Much Love to all!

So, I have an
I was thinking of taking a clone from my lemon kush plant, growing it up and forcing it to herm. Then, take the seeds from that plant and grow some new plants and start back crossing them with each other. I'd like to get the numbers more even with each other. Right now they are 15THC and 8CBD
Any thoughts?

Thoughts? That's a lot of GC testing.
