Carcass' $150 Low Budget Grow 2019

"let it go" like the song,
I wasn't calling you a snowflake.
Obviously, I can't say anything that you won't take offense to.
So, yeah- goodbye and good luck, Carmen
I have never heard that song. I do not know the reference.

I am not trying to pick a fight with you Carcass. I have long respected you and regarded you as a friend. There are now two messages to you from me in "Conversations", and you have responded to neither.

I have sent you a couple of pings from my off-topic hoping we could discuss this there, as this in not cannabis related. I lost it when I saw the snowflake next to my name. I would welcome a truce. I wish that people could know what I wrote to you!!!

Thanks, GDB!
And to keep the lazy meter quiet, I don't do much else...;)
I hear ya'. Just a little vacuuming err' now and then. :)

Does this mean there's no update tomorrow? 🤔 It will be an odd way to start the week.
A closer look at the auto- originally, I was just going to top her, but one thing led to another (you know how that goes)....her training will continue well into flowering, which (remarkably) hasn't started yet- she was topped 10 days ago.
This is what happens when you have Carhooks™ burning a hole in your pocket!

Both plants are looking dottin' happy.

Does this mean there's no update tomorrow
Haven't missed a Monday yet!
*except for the 2 or3 times that I updated on Tuesday- I blame the granddaughters
for that... 🤪
They won't look much different than they did on Saturday...maybe just a little bit, especially the auto- another couple weeks, she may catch the ATF...
I'm out of hooks, need to make up a bunch more tomorrow, I'm gonna need them for that auto if she keeps doing what she's been doing...

Another thread caught up on. Both plants look good but my fave is the Alaskan (ATF, right?).

I have some questions about the colander SIP. What goes on top of it and what goes underneath it? I thought SIPs were your medium of choice (not water) on top, then an air gap and then the water. How do you keep the dirt from coming through the colander? :hmmmm:

I'm not sure what the pros do but I'm going to line mine with landscape fabric.
This one gets nothing. I don't think much falls through.

Happy Monday, HashGirl!
I have some questions about the colander SIP. What goes on top of it and what goes underneath it?
Nothing- it's only 4 pieces- the bucket, the collander, the fill tube, and the overflow tube-

The collander just sits upside down in the bottom of the bucket (you may have to trim it to make it fit right)
then the fill tube goes through the collander all the way to the bottom of the bucket, then I filled it with enough water to see where the overflow has to go. (you need that inch of airspace)
The part of the fill tube that goes through the collander, should look like swiss cheese up to where it exits the collander- lots of holes -this is so that even with a full res, air can still get in.

I also added about an inch of perlite around the edges of the collander before the soil (HP Promix) went in. (not sure why, but it couldn't hurt)
How do you keep the dirt from coming through the colander?
After the first fill, I got a little perlite on the dipstick, but nothing since- I packed the soil very tightly around the collander before filling it all the way up
That, and the fact that it's being watered from the bottom up keeps the soil where it's supposed to be...
I'm sure I'll find a little soil in the res when she's done and I open it up, but not very much

I'm going to line mine with landscape fabric.
That's a goood idea, greenjeans-I used pantyhose on just the wicking foot in the bigger (blue) SIP, but nothing on the smaller (black) one
This one gets nothing. I don't think much falls through.
Thanks, Stone!
And those holes are considerably bigger than the holes in the collander.
I think that once the soil gets wet, it tends to hold it's shape,(like when you pull a seedling out of the solo cup) so very little will ever fall through the holes.

Now, it's time for a little Update on these 2 little ladies...

They haven't grown much since Saturday, but they've grown a little...

The SaugaView®:
ATF on the left, AHauto on the right *
edited because i evidently don't know right from left...
1-ATF-AHa-1.jpg

This is the ATF's 23rd day in the SIP
I need to make a correction to Saturdays mini-update- I said she was 53 days old, but she's actually 45 days old today- I did the math in my head, and that almost never ends well.. 😁
2-ATF-1.jpg

And the AHa- 10 days in the SIP- she's also 31 days old, and still no sign of pistils..she was leaning a little,
so the chopstick is propping her up straight.
3-AHa-5.jpg

A few outdoor/out of the box shots, so you can see their true colors-they both needed water this morning, (both bone dry)
so I took the opportunity to pull them out and get a few pics while they're 6 or 8 pounds lighter than they will be after I fill the reservoirs..
AHa in the sun:
4-AHa-4.JPG

And in the garage- I had to remove a few more leaves this morning- those fan leaves are big!
For an (allegedly) sativa dominant plant, she's sure got some wide leaves on her...
5-AHa-3.jpg

The ATF out in the sun...she's gettin' there...Now that I did the math correctly, she's got 12 days (instead of 4) before the Grow Dots "veg" period is over, so that's probably when I'll flip her to 12/12.
She'll be 57 days old @ flip, which is just about right- I usually flip at 60 days, but 57 is close enough..
6-ATF- 4.JPG

And, in the garage- they're both what I consider a good shade of green...
7-ATF-3.jpg

And, tucked back into the box- now they get watered.
8-ATF-AHa.jpg

I'm really impressed with the performance of the SIP's!
Not that I'm pressed for time or anything, but watering both
plants takes about half a minute each-
I do take a few extra minutes to match the water temp to the res temps- don't want them to get cold feet!

And there you have it!
Thank You for looking
I appreciate your support:love:
Have a wonderful week,
and if anyone has any questions please don't be afraid to ask!

Loving the colander idea carcass man they look awesome. Can't wait to see them after the flip 🤙

Look at you all Sip’d up!!!
Thanks, NTH!
Yeah, I resisted for awhile, but @Azimuth 's great SIP thread convinced me otherwise...
I always use a calculator, do it three times and if I get the same answer twice...I go with that!!!
Hey- I've got a calculator!
(somewhere around here):hmmmm:

12 more days for the ATF ,but the AHa may flip herself any day now ...I hope she waits awhile, but she's already given me ten days more than I'm used to with my previous autos ...
Your right or my right?
Ha! So you saw that, eh?
I probably should've said the big one and the little one.. 🤪

So nice to see them in the sun and to know that they're that much heavier when full.
Thank you, Shed!
It's also nice to have some sun to sit 'em in!
Fortunately, the collander sip isn't nearly as heavy as the mop bucket , and it's the one I'll soon be schlepping.. :)

Plants are looking beautiful Carcass! Congrats on that PhOTY win!
Thanks so much, Boo, it's great to see you!
Yes, that Va. seed fairy sent me some good ones..

Serious question: how do you get so much growth in one week?

My Bubba Kush 2 weeks ago:- 6 leaves.
My Bubba Kush 1 week ago:- 6 leaves.

Do you mean you got 6 new leaves a week, or after a second week still no more new leaves?
But the main thing is that you really love Bubba Kush, so you're winner regardless!
