Carcass' $150 Low Budget Grow 2019

That's a good point, Shed-I didn't think about that- I'll have to pull it apart and take a look at the res in a few weeks- that's one reason I chose that kind of SIP, so I'd have access to the res in case there was a problem...and I may have just created one...

But you probably will, 'cause that's what you do,
And nobody does it better than you...💚

Me too, T!

Thanks so much, Boo!
Heres some pics of the powder, and the liquid (which I haven't used yet)

10ml./gal. is the dosage for the juice ^^
1g./gal is the dosage for the powder..
Neither one mentions using it for plants, but I've used it on my last 3 plants- don't know if it helped anything, but it didn't hurt anything either...

Ha! I'm all about cheap- that's one reason I grow in an $18.00 box instead of a hundred dollar tent...💰
The pot for the AHa will cost a whopping $3.00(plus tax) at the dollar store (3 gallon bucket, collander and super soaker (for the tubing)
If those buckets were a gallon bigger, the ATF would be growing in one too...
Yeah, I'm real cheap...😁

:rofl::laugh:
Azi uses a lot of Aloe in his grows as far as I remember. He is quite clued up with the Aloe and advocated growing it for constant supply.

Might be fine, but I recall Hash Hound posting this over in the SIP thread regarding using nute teas in the res:
I have and it smelled real foul the next day. I rinsed it all out, never again.
I feed my teas from the top but no more than a half gal so it doesn't run into the reservoir.
I do most of my feeding when I amend the soil and rarely top dress, just a tea or two.
Aloe could be different from teas, but I think most folks use aloe or yucca or other surfactants to top water rather than in the res.

Years ago, Mrs.C. always had an Aloe plant growing for burns and scrapes while the kids were growing up, but no more...If I did have one growing, I don't know if it'd survive losing a leaf whenever I water my plants.. 🤔 the powder is very convenient in that respect...

I'll have to give the overflow pipe a sniff every so often, make sure it's not getting too gross in there...
Well, that's what makes it fun!!!!!
Yeah, you see something for $50 on the web, and you ask yourself "now how can I make that for $2"?:hmmmm:
Plants and roots looking healthy and beautiful my friend!
Thanks so much, iamhim!:thanks:
I'm actually a bit surprised that I'm seeing results already...and they're better than I expected...
This experience may change the way I grow from here on..but I'll know more by the time this one finishes...so far, so good, though...:thumb:

Yeah, welcome to the club. :laughtwo: You'll probably want to do at least another run since you want to be sure it wasn't a fluke.

Growing in these things is kinda fun. Super fast 'n easy watering, and fast and robust growth.

What's not to like? :thumb:

Yeah, welcome to the club.
Thanks, Azi! Hey, would it be ok to post a few fabrication pics over in your sip thread in the near future?

Funny you should mention that...(although I'm already convinced it's not a fluke 😄 )

I took about half an hour today and made up the pot for the amnesia Haze auto, I also mixed her soil up
and added Dynomyco & a little Real Growers Recharge, so it can "cook" for a few days in the hall closet, where it's a helluva lot warmer than out in the garage....the Grow Dots don't go in until the plant goes in...

Anyhow, here's the pot, with a few pics- this one was easier than the mop bucket SIP, although neither one was difficult to make...

First, the 3.25 gallon dollar store bucket and collander:
AHa sip-1.jpg

I cut the collander down a little to fit it upside down into the bucket:
AHa sip-2.jpg

Then, drilled the overflow hole apx. an inch below the top of the air chamber, glued a tube in it, installed the fill tube through the collander, then hot-glued everything in place....nuttin' to it!
AHa sip-3.jpg

I ended up using pvc pipe for the fill tube, so my total investment in this pot is $2.16..
The AHa will also be grown with Grow Dots, she'll go into this pot in 4 or 5 days, then she'll go outside...It was 78f today (weird, huh?) but that's not going to last, it'll be back to the low 60's in a day or 2...
That's it for now...

Thanks, Azi! Hey, would it be ok to post a few fabrication pics over in your sip thread in the near future?
Please do. :thumb: I think it's good to show different solutions to the pot design and how easy they can be to put together.

Anyhow, here's the pot, with a few pics- this one was easier than the mop bucket SIP, although neither one was difficult to make...
You'll likely get a different root structure with this new one than the other. Roots will drape all around the colander and a few adventurous ones will peek inside it.

But both designs provide the crucial element in ample supply, that being air to the roots.

I'm looking forward to see how the mop bucket plant does in the magic cardboard box!

That is about the grossest, perverted most personal thing I think I’ve ever heard here. :adore:

It's all that clean livin' ...😇
Give it time Nev!
We'll get you corrupted in short order...🤪
Nice build Carcass!
Thanks, Stone!- I considered just putting that little auto into a regular pot...then I looked around the garage, and found I already had the SIP materials "in stock"..so a sip it is!
That looks excellent.
Thank You, Lerugged!... Just don't look too close...although it'll all be covered up with promix tomorrow...

I would apply the aloe from the top. I applied my calmag from the top. I too had foul septic waater in my res from usiing organic nutes under the perlite. A disaster. I won't be using perlite again excpet for babies.

Hey Carass have you thought about running Enzyme cleaner in the sip . Definitely keep the roots clear for the up take and what ever else would try to grow .

There are several brands I use one called Z-7 . Plus I use hydroguard also .
Thank you. Is it something you just mix into the res water? Would it be helpful in a swick?
