Carcass' $150 Low Budget Grow 2019

Happy Saturday!

My next indoor grow is going to be in a 3 gallon fabric pot...so, I figure I'll need some kind of pan to go under it to catch any runoff, and something to elevate the pot a little so air can circulate all around the pot..I had the pan, but not the elevator, so here's what I came up with:

I've got about 6 of these flat grilles that I've taken off my fans so they move a little more air (a normal person might have just thrown them away...but you know me better than that... ;) )
Grille 1.jpg

So, I did a little bending on the "legs" on the grilles, zip-tied 3 of them together, and here's what I got:

Grille 2.jpg

so they'll hold the pot about half an inch off the bottom of the pan, for air circulation and drainage...
Grille 3.jpg

Ta-Da!
Grille 5.jpg

Now all I need is a plant to put in there- I'm working on that...no sprout yet, but I'm optimistic that the first Blueberry Hill seed might just do what it's supposed to....

And, in case you looked at my Thursday update, and the pics were missing, they're back, and
you can check them out here if you're interested...

Thank You to Mark Ocean & Teddy Edwards for getting those pics put back where they belong...:thanks:

Have a great weekend !

Damn man you sure be thinking out the box.... that's brilliant, first the cpu fans in tandanum, then the skewers now this...... bravo...:snowboating:
Great way to reuse the old technology that we used in new ways that helps today.

Brilliant!
Thanks, Shed!

Thanks for the kind words, raziel!
Thinking outside the box, about stuff that goes inside the box...:high-five:.... it didn't show in the pics, but I also siliconed my lazy susan/swivel thingy to the pan, so I can rotate it easier in there...

Hopefully they'll hold up to a fully watered container.
Thank You, Azimuth!
They're pretty strong steel, and I only use 3 gallon pots, so they'll work pretty well- actually, I just use one of them under my outdoor plants, and they haven't flattened out yet....

Nicely done.

NTH

.
I use 3 gallon pots for everything- outdoors, plants in them will get up to 3' tall, so I think it's me flipping too early that's keeping the indoor ladies a little shorter than I'd like.
Although, 3 feet tall may well be the limit in a 3 gallon pot, because I've never had one get over 3 feet tall in one...
that’s good to know. My tallest plant for my 1st grow was 20”. This 2nd grow has my shortest at 24“ and the tallest at 35”. That’s about as big as I want in my 3x3. When people list the height of their plants are they measuring from the floor or the top of the soil? I use the later. I finally made my way over to your journal. Great stuff you have going on. I’ll be going back to the beginning on this one…

Very little goes to waste around my house... :)
Nicely done.
Thank You, NTH!
As I've heard @013 say-"even a blind squirrel occasionally stumbles across an acorn" ;)
I finally made my way over to your journal.
I'm glad you did! Hope to see more of you, DeeBoy!

That's up to you, and I really appreciate it....but just picking it up right here will save you a lot of time...

OMG what a fabulous idea!

Just fabulous :) :) :)

Oh and good luck with your seeds, or horrible little capsules of angst and anxiety as I call them.

When I measure height, it's from the top of the soil. :battingeyelashes:

Nice re-purposing work, Carcass!

Dude! You’re McIver…
Thanks, DeeBoy- That actually used to be my nickname back when I was an RV technician...
" Have Carcass do it, that guy could make ice cream outa shit if he had to" ;)

I'm having trouble believing it, but my Blueberry Hill seed actually sprouted this morning... :)
You know my history- that never happens...so, this grow is officially under way!
Man, that period of time when you go into the forget part of the set it and forget stage of growing is the hardest time for me...
I think I've got a little ocd thing going on, because my grows are more like "set it and worry about it"

Thank You, HashGirl!
Yeah, from the soil is how I do it too, for overall height, I just add 8 inches for the pot...

Happy Monday!
It's time for a little Update on what's been going on in the last few days...

First up- theFastBuds Blackberry auto is dry enough to jar up, so I weighed her on her way to the jars...
3.jpg

59.25g, so about 2-1/8 oz -the eighth will go away during the cure, so 2 ounces out the door...
One of the nugs:
4.jpg

In the jars- those are 1 quart jars (spaghetti sauce jars)

5.jpg

That's it for that one...next up- the @Herbies Seeds photoperiod Blueberry Hill, which sprouted on Sunday morning -
(on the first try!!)
1.jpg

She'll spend the next few weeks in the box under a single 9 watt globeless led bulb. That seedling mat not only warms the seedling, but it also keeps the box at a fairly constant 76f...
2.jpg

That's all for the indoor stuff, on to the outdoor @Weed Seeds Express Blueberry auto...

The SaugaView®:
6.jpg

21" tall, 74 days old, flowering for 7 weeks today- still fed 5g/gal of mc+.75g of @Blue Planet Nutrients "Easy Weed"with every watering.
She's starting to fade a little, which is expected at her age...

... Mr. Bill says "Hi"! ;)

11.jpg

Another look...She's still drinking a gallon every other day, so she has a ways to go..
7.jpg

Her buds are still growing, there's a few real fat ones on her...
6a.jpg

A bud- that's a seed stuck to it at the top- not a weed seed, just something the wind blew in...so, I guess it could be a weed seed..... just not our kind of weed....

She's showing a little bit of amber, but I'm not going to harvest her till her water usage slows way down.
10a.jpg

And that's about it for this update-
Thanks for looking, I really appreciate the support.. :peace:
Have a great week, and please, stay as safe as possible out there!

Sorry to lead with this, but LOL!

Congrats on three jars/2 ounces of blackberry frostiness! How does it smell because it looks like is smells really sweet.

Blueberry Auto really has some chonk on it and it's only getting chonkier with all that water intake! And we don't have to say "Oh nooooooooooooooooo" about your Blueberry Hill sprout, because it's present and accounted for.

:thumb:

Sorry to lead with this, but LOL!
It's pretty hokey, but it does work real well...just don't serve any gravy on that plate...
How does it smell because it looks like is smells really sweet.
It does actually have a slight sweet / berry (ish) smell to it- she stunk a little when she was alive and growing, but any real stink is pretty much gone now..
it's only getting chonkier with all that water intake!
Yeah, for a little gal, she really puts it away- even in the 65 degree
weather we've had for the last few days....
your Blueberry Hill sprout,
is still alive on day 2 !:goof:

Congrats on the new baby, MrC. Is it going to be a purple plant too?

And thank you for another wonderful Monday update. I read this one at the end of a really good Monday Night Football game, so it was especially enjoyable! :Rasta:

Congrats on the new baby, MrC. Is it going to be a purple plant too?
Thanks, GDB!
Herbie's doesn't mention that in the description, but she is half Blueberry, so it seems to me like there might be a pheno with a little color to it, although I don't expect anything like that Blackberry I just harvested... :)
And thank you for another wonderful Monday update
You're very welcome!
And thank you for checking it out :thumb: I'm always happy to see you in here!
