Carcass' $150 Low Budget Grow 2019

Grrrrr.......
A strongly worded letter may make its way out of me. I've been having a hard time dissolving my MC. Warm water helped but there was still some in suspension after 24 hrs of sitting and much shaking.
I'd better simmer down and address it after a few days.

I love balls as much as the next gal but this is crazy nuts.
I wonder if since they are making the 2 part that they went back to the balls? I think they use them in the 2 part.
Maybe they combine them to form a new 1 part? Smhffs

I wish they'd just settle on a formula and stick with it- it doesn't really instill confidence when a product is different every time someone orders it...
WTF...am I missing my balls???
Maybe people complained cause they just love balls.
I've gotten kind of used to mine.... but I thought I'd finally have to do without them- now I get to keep them for another year :)

Just said the same thing to Buttercup.
He said it looked like the two part mixed.

I tried dissolving some in a little pill bottle- it actually dissolves faster than my v2, with less stuff settling out of it... it also turns the water the same shade of brown.
I'll try it for my next grow - I can't really condemn it if it still works fine- the lack of stink and dust is a plus for this batch.
He said it looked like the two part mixed.
That's probably what they did- I saw the 2 part stuff on their website, and wondered why anyone would
want that- maybe so you can get perfectly equal amounts of balls and powder in your mix?

Beautiful plants Carcass. Lately I've been unhappy with how quickly my autos are going into flower - 3 weeks of age. When I saw your topped auto with the LST going on I wondered if training and topping them stresses them enough to delay flowering. Then @InTheShed mentioned their cooperativeness with the training... Do you guys think that might be a helpful with future auto grows? If so, how are you getting seedlings strong enough to begin the training so quickly? Hopefully that makes sense? :thanks:

I wondered if training and topping them stresses them enough to delay flowering.
I really don't think it does- I've had them flower at 16 days old-and some wait till day 35...pretty random.
Flowering doesn't mean that I stop training, though- I try to use the first week of stretch to get them where I want them - sometimes it works great, and sometimes not so much.
how are you getting seedlings strong enough to begin the training so quickly?
I just top them above node 3- sometimes they're 10 days old, sometimes 12 or 13, then 5 days later, you can start tying things down. If you're lucky, they won't be flowering yet.

Have you seen this thread? It'll answer most of your questions about training- when to start, what to expect, etc.
With autos, I start a little earlier than I would with photo plants.

@MrSauga - could you take a look at these labels, and maybe tell me which version they sent me?
The old stuff (which I think is v2) is on the left ,and the new stuff (complete with little balls) is on the right.

The bag on the left is new to me. The bag on the right appears to be v2. I posted in Felipe's thread a while back that I could always tell when Friday rolled around because GLN updated their formula. It's really funny since I am using v1 still and it's giving the same results if not better than all these new versions. The closest the bag on the left comes to is v2.5.

Thanks for the reply, MrSauga-
The bag on the left is new to me.
That's funny- I've been using that bag for close to a year & thought it was v2...
Keep in mind they use any bags leftover to pack their new formulas in so I don't think anyone ever knows what version they have.
It'd be nice if they'd put a sticker or something on there to let us know what we really have- or stop changing the formula every month or so...
But, as long as it works, I guess it really doesn't matter what's in there.. accurate labeling sure wouldn't hurt though...

I thought you were too. Didn't I get you to give me the numbers off your bag? If it was you then those were entered and showing in the above image. The numbers from the image on the left I don't have at all so I'm not familiar with that one. I believe it must be between what we call v2.5 and v3.

I 'm sorry to drop in on all this talk about balls and such however, I need some clarification. If what I am reading is true I ordered a big bag of MC at the beginning of the season, I assumed what I using was Version 2 because that's the bag it was in ( This is my 1st grow with MC so who knew they did this). My stuff seems to be what you describe as the two part mixed, lots of powder and balls that seem to separate as they settle. I usually tumble the jar and let it settle before measuring out my mix. I apply nutes as my plants ask for them so I haven't had any issues with nute burn or under feeding but then again I'm a dirt. Are the mix amounts the same? I am in the third week of flower so if I could bump up

Hi,Sierra- thanks for stopping by!
My stuff seems to be what you describe as the two part mixed, lots of powder and balls that seem to separate as they settle.
V1 had balls but the powder was brown, v2 had balls & brown powder, then what I think they're calling v3
was gray powder(with white specks) and no balls, now the one I just got is off-white powder with balls.
I'm going to treat it the same as the v2.75(?) I've been using.
I go by the 4-5-6 instructions on the bag, but I have gone up to 7g/gal for a couple of my hungrier plants with no adverse effects. When the green leaves start getting pale, I'll bump up the MC -unless it's just the normal yellowing of the older lower fan leaves
do we need to start treating MC like an unstable genetic line now, with uncertain expressions?
I'm gonna assume it still works as well as the original, until it proves wrong- or doesn't...
I figure the folks at Greenleaf nutrients know what they're doing, and the changes they keep making
are actually improving the product... although, it would be nice if they'd settle on one formula and stick with it for more than a couple of months.
I feel lucky to be growing in soil,
That's all I grow in- Stepped up to Promix HP for this grow (well, most of it) and the plants seem to love it.
My ChemDawg is the only one that's in the stuff I used to use. (Black Magic potting mix)
