I spotted that sun of a gun on the first picture, Canna...GRRRR, you are my hero because you keep moving forward and persevere....after I spent weeks swabbing down my grow rooms from the PM, I popped spendy seeds from a reputable breeder with only a 50% germ rate; these plants developed spider mites so I bought some products but ended up shit canning the plants anyway....but am armed right now with some good products that I think I will start using on a regular basis for preventative measures...

Then an angel from heaven appeared who had been messing with breeding sent me about 150 seeds that I am beginning to pop in rock wool currently...lord have mercy on me...every day is a learning experience and it humbles me and I am hanging on new and improved....meanwhile I just keep accumulating more patients, so I am the weakest link....me, with the hort degree and the 1000's of plants I have put in the landscape around here with a death rate on less than one hand....go figure....

Anyway, want you to know that you are the reason that I tell myself that I can do this and just don't quit...so thank you for that, you have faced it all this summer......REPS!

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & More!

I hate spider mites :yikes: Why can't that worm eat them instead of the poor little leaf!!

I made this organic spray that is suppose to be safe to use even in flower and it didn't leave any damage on the plant so guess it's safe.

Here's how it goes:
Chopped up around 5 big and very spicy peppers (were the green long type, don't know english name) plus some green peppercorn, mixed with around 500ml of water and almost brought it to a boiling point while stirring this concoction (didn't boil the thing). After it cooled off (with a plate cover for infusion purposes) I strained it and put it in my sprayer and applied a good ocd amount everywhere. Have I mentioned I hate spider mites!?!?... :hmmmm:

Well don't know how good it did, but haven't seen anymore damaged leafs, so think it worked. Guess can't hurt to try since it's not gonna cause any damage to the plant.

Hope it helps in any way!

:circle-of-love:

I'm going to save that recipe DaTenshi, thanks a bunch for that. My folks grow all kinds of peppers in their garden, I'm not a pepper eater so at least I could accept their offer of some of them for a good use. LOL

Yes, I get real close to surrender. :laughtwo:

Such a sad thing on the germ rate of those seeds, but a great thing to happen on the freebies! That's awesome! Do you know the strains?
I am so happy that I can help in some way to keep you going strong. It makes a body feel good. ;-)
I am just going to have to come visit some day. :thumb:

The screen house kids are only a foot to a foot and half from the top of the enclosure. I sure hope they have stopped getting taller. I can always dig a hole for the pots to lower them, but I don't want to have to do that. LOL
The WW x MK is starting to stack balls, I couldn't get a picture today because I have misplace my loupe. I'll find it tomorrow. (The inchworm probably ate it. Insatiable appetite)

The garage grow had an issue yesterday. For some unknown reason the power strip I had everything plugged into started tripping off after a half hour or so. Nothing has changed, nothing new plugged in. I reset it and it stayed on for an hour before I left for work, so I figured all was okay. Ha! When I got home there were no lights on.

This morning I put a new power strip in and all seems to be functioning normally. I guess the other one just went bad. I'll be flipping to 12/12 soon.

Tomorrow I absolutely have to finish insulating the eaves, as we are supposed to drop to low 40's at night. The grow room is at about 61 degrees when I check in the morning. That's getting a bit cool.

The clones will come inside and be under the CFL fixture for vegging until ready for the garage.

The freebie seeds I was gifted are feminized Darkstar for oil and an Amnesia/Darkstar cross.....

Yes, Canna, what a difference a day makes...from 90 to 60....huge...time for a trip to the cider mill....

Oooh, that Amnesia/Darkstar sounds interesting. I have some freebie Amnesia seeds here that I was going to germ on the next grow. I would love to hear how yours does. :)
Mmmmm......cider. I need to get my Mom onto the apple cider making. LOL

Had to come check on the Wildlings. Good grief your busy over there.

Wildlings are doing okay, one of them is really bushy. It's like a cloud of bugs when I go in there though, due to the leafhoppers scattering as I approach. The girls are surviving it. I'm hoping the cold weather coming up is going to take care of that problem.
I keep waiting to not be so busy, but something is always coming up to keep me there. :tokin:

Hope you are doing well with your dream job. I'll have to get over to your thread and catch up to see what's up. LOL

Edit: I meant to mention something else on the Wildlings. One of them is getting some nitrogen in a very unusual way. There's been a barn swallow perching on the beam above one of the plants. How do I know this? She takes off whenever I come near, and the plant is littered with bird poo. :laughtwo:

But we all know you'll keep fighting the good fight to the end.

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & More!

So, while I was in the garage grow I spotted a lower leaf on one of the plants that looked pretty bad:

inchworm_3.jpg

Closer inspection, thinking I had spider mites, showed tiny worm castings and a small silk web.

inchworm_4.jpg

I searched with that loupe for a long time and finally found this less than 1/2" long inchworm. The amount of damage to one leaf for that little bugger was incredible:
The first picture shows the critter, but I did not see it at the time. ;-)

inchworm_6.jpg

{{sigh}} the critters will never end.

You may know better, but I don't think that is spider mites. I think that is inchworm poop caught in a spider web, and the spider left after web destruction.

The pattern on leaves looks caterpillar, not spider mites and other leaves would be just spotty. When 80% eaten by spider mites, my leaves look spray painted with white dots, not chewed in bulldozer trails.

Thanks Radogast, I've never had spider mites (thank you...thank you!), so you've told me what to look for if that does happen to my leaves. :)
Although inchworms can spin webs similar to a spider, I agree with you that this is an abandoned spider web due to the unwelcome litter and the numerous spiders in the grow room. ;-)

"Bulldozer trails"....exactly! :biglaugh:

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & More!

I'm going to have a photo bomb update later this evening, in the mean time I have a question for the growers using LED lighting.
Do any of you have a problem with LED's triggering migraines? (of course I don't look directly at the lights. LOL)

I haven't had migraines in a couple years, since I have begun the garage grow with all of the light units, I've had several and they are not mild.

Just curious. I'm going to keep the sunglasses in there with me from now on, but if it's something else causing this I need to look into it.

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & More!

I've never had any issues with migraine and led, I suffer from cluster headaches but I've always got glasses on when the door is open. Looking forward to your photo bomb. You take some of the best pics I see. :thumb:

Thanks,
I have a friend who suffers from cluster headaches and they can be absolutely debilitating. I've never had one, but am told they are much worse than migraines....I just can't imagine. :-(

I got all the pictures taken, and I did move the MK x WW out of the screen house. No room for a boy in there. It's a dang tall and pretty plant, can't bring myself to do him in yet. LOL
I might.....just might have a plan for him. ;-)

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & More!

Migraines are sometimes triggered by seasonal alergies. Do you think there is a time-of-year pattern to their infrequent occurrence?

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & More!

I'm lucky that attacks only happen every couple of years or so, get less frequent as time goes on it seems. They put me out for 2 - 3 days.
On a lighter note, don't kill the boy just yet, stick to your new plan, which I'm sure will mean free seeds. :thumb:

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & More!

That's my Sista with a Mista (male plant) and she is going to make......................SEEDS..........it started out good. :cheesygrinsmiley:

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & More!

Old ancient ways. Head aches was blood to the brain. Vessels were treated with niacin. It does kinda work. But Romans had a remedy really was perfect. Got ginger root, aspen tree bark. Which is asprin. And bunch other stuff. We have a boy . Hear this now. His is a quad. Pedi hypoxia brain injury with silent aspiration. He is more healthy than anyone I ever seen with disabilities. Never sick never anything but kidney stones. But that because of calcium and protein we found he didn't get in his food. From a blood test report. Their is a cure for everything natural and man made. Just got find it. I just found out that in past few years seeing these people with natural medicines.

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & More!

Look up roman ancient remedies . Google.

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & More!

Seasonal allergies is always a possibility. :)
My history of triggers has been bright snow on a sunny day, and flickering florescent lighting (when the bulbs are going bad, which the former boss would ignore until I replaced them myself)
The nausea and dizziness from these things is what can keep me down for days, besides wanting everything as dark and quiet as possible. LOL

I'll wear the sunglasses when in the garage grow for awhile and see if the attacks continue, if they do then it has to be allergies. Getting older sucks!

You guys are just too schmart for yer own good. Yep, I'm planning some seeds.....from a much deserving small plant.

Here's da' boy. He's enjoying a wind out in the open yard right now:

Here is the intended female recipient, this is Top Gal's mom. She stayed very stunted, but has some buds going on:

I haven't had time to think about how I want to go about the pollination process. I might dig her up and transplant into a pot and put the two of them together in an isolated area to do it naturally. Or, I can wait for him to get the pollen sacs done using the bag routine like Peejay did and pollinate her where she is. (Very carefully segregating her so no wind will disturb it while it's active on the pollen)
