I'm still battling the bugs, but in the end...I WILL win.

Working on getting some pickled bologna and crackers for the Holiday Smoke-a-Thon. My Mom makes killer pickled "lonies". (I used to call bologna "lony" when I was a kid.) :laugh:

It appears I'm going to get a decent harvest from the White Cookies plant after all. She was affected the most, but with the treatments I gave last week it appears I got the best of the bugs gone. I've been trimming off leaves, and as soon as I'm done with that I'll post a pic before I chop her. She's going to get a serious bath in the bud washing, then one more time after it's dry from that one.

I am so happy I didn't opt to destroy her.

Here she is, I'll be chopping later. No monster cola's on her, but I think it's still going to give me a decent amount even after all it went through with being eaten alive.

I think the "Chiller" channel would love this as a new movie. I got the queen aphid in this one, movie title "Attack of the Aphids!" Coincidentally, the movie on that channel right now is called "Bug". The actors are talking about bugs in the bed and whether they are "thrips", "Aphids" or "Bedbugs". The actor is sure that there are blood sucking Aphids in his system planted there by the military. :rofl:

Well, I guess the bugs ought to be happy that when they get to bug heaven they will smell of a lovely lemon scent, and have "bubbly" personalities from the baking soda action. :laugh:

I am very anxious to see what the second bath reveals. I showered them down after hanging them up as I usually do, to get rid of anything picked back up from the bath when removing them.

:thanks: Magic Man. They are pretty well whooped on this one, the second bath showed only a couple of dead ones floating around. I have another flowering girl in the basement that will be brought up tomorrow after I trim her up down there. I'll chop her right away and get a bath going.

A long time ago I ran into a neat trick for making a macro lens for the phone, for the life of me I could not remember how the instructions said to attach the lens to the phone. I ran into this again today, but cannot post the link. So, I did the instructions myself to show ya.

How many of you have one of those mini laser lights that we use to drive pets crazy and keep us laughing for hours? Check out what you can do with them.

How to make a Macro Lens for your camera phone from a mini laser light:

You need a mini laser light

Take the top off, it usually just unscrews. Then pry out the plastic part until the insides come out. In there is the little lens.

Put the little lens into the end of a bobby pin. Add a piece of tape to the other end of the bobby pin

Place the lens over the lens on your camera phone and tape the bobby pin in place. Be sure you have the flat side of the lens facing your camera lens. The convex side of it should be facing outward.

Voila! What's nice about doing this instead of the jewelers loupe is that I can keep my flash free. The jewelers loupe usually covered that on my phone.

Now let's see how close I got just hand holding:

I can see the trichome colors perfectly. You aren't going to win any photo awards for sharpness, but this does work. Can't wait to try it out with the phone on a tripod for steadiness. We'll see just how sharp we can get this. Depth of field is extremely limited. I had to get so close that the small leaves around the center area were touching the lens, so things could get sticky if you aren't careful.

Also, my folks gave me a little item as a stocking stuffer kind of thing. It is something I'll be using a LOT!

This is an LED light, looks just like an outlet and even has a switch. On the back are stickies to stick it where you need it, I have one in my laundry room and it lights up the room very nicely. They are very bright.
They will be perfect for holding in one hand pointed at a bud while I take the picture with the other hand, or as side lighting in other uses.
Need a pic of the inside of a plant, this will light the way.

New on the Market at TrueValue hardware stores in november - I bought 2 for closets.

They also have a version with a slide on/off so you can adjust the light intensity. Came with 3 AAA already installed.

I have been checking my bud pantry and have discovered that all of my Boveda packs need recharging...yesterday.

So, in the meantime I decided to try an experiment to get some needed moisture back into the buds. Back when I was a smoker I used to buy tobacco by the bag and roll my own to save money. The tobacco would become dry and crumbly after a while and didn't make for a good ciggy. I would add a piece of bread into the bag overnight and by the next day it was "rehydrated"...so to speak. This is also what I do to get that rock hard brown sugar back into a soft state. Put the sugar in a bowl, top it with a piece of bread and put a lid on it. Works like a charm.

Let's see if it helps the dryness of a jar of popcorn and smaller buds. I used the butt end of a loaf of bread and cut it in a circle, then placed it on top of the buds. Hope it works for a temporary!
