Thank you Radogast, I'll give Mom a hug for everyone today.

Thanks to the rest of you for the giggles this morning with my cuppa.

It's going to be a busy...not to mention sticky...day around here. I have two major goals, first to get those two plants chopped up, and then making some oil with the Blue Blood I have in the pantry.
IF I have enough carrier left over, I'll be getting some more oil going with the remainder of the previous Blue Dream harvest.

All in all...it's going to be a relaxing and enjoyable day working with the plants and the medicine. I will be perfecting a cream that Mom is using on her non-cancerous areas that she likes at the moment, but it's still a bit too greasy for her. I have a friend near me that gave me a great book on lotions/creams recipes. A little of this...a little of that....

So....I guess I'll call myself the Medicine Woman today.

Now.....I need to get the music for the day. What do I want? Jazz....Blues.....Rock....Classic Rock...Classical...some good Ol' Big Band swing for a change? Any suggestions just for fun?

*&^%$*&@#$ Timers! I noticed this morning when I got up, it was still fairly dark out, that the light for the sprouts/seedlings was on already. I figured I must have set that timer to be on earlier than I realized a couple days ago.
Huh....just took a good look and tested it by rotating the time and it won't turn the lights off. So, those sprouts have been under 24 hours of light for almost three days straight. Poor kids, got no resting time.

I put a different timer on it, this one works.

I'm thankful this wasn't on a flowering schedule for sure.

Ahhh...the trials and errors of growing.

After you perfect your lotion so it is not to greasy would you put it here or on your blog? :Namaste:

We'll see how that goes. ;-)

I feel like a Rockem Sockem Robot today! I am rocking it out with the harvests and multitasking with oil prep, and creme ingredients. Too much fun!

Blue Dream Clone, chopped. Check!

No fancy bud snipping here, I want all of the good stuff on the leaves as I can get. Pretty much just snipped off tips and large leaves:

Blue_Dream_Clone_Chop_day.jpg

She'll get a warsh with the TrainWreck as soon as that one is chopped.

I wanted to let Radogast and the rest of you know, the rehydrated raisins are working. The Ladybugs have been hanging out on them fairly regularly. They do mold up pretty fast, so you have to keep fresh ones going. They last a few days and then I have to change them out.
Thanks again for that tip Rado!

So why canna? Why not trim? What is trainwrek? And what is and why do you wash your buds? Is that literal ? Washing your buds? I know I'm full of questions today

I don't mind your questions at all.

A lot of people, in my opinion, trim tight so they have nice looking nugs. Nothing at all wrong with that, I did it on the last plant I harvested. The trim is saved for other things, and there are people who swear that the sugar leaves trimmed off are better smoke than the buds. :)

I don't trim tight on a regular basis because those leaves have trichomes all over them. Only the brown or dryer tips I tip off because they are not beneficial. I want to keep those trichomed leaves on the plant this time so when I make Concentrated Oil I am getting all of those trichomes I can into the oil. If I wasn't making oil, normally I would trim off the leaves to use for cannabutter or infused products.

Yes, I always wash my buds after chopping because of the amount of dust/dirt, bug carcasses, and other environmental outdoor things that hang on to those leaves and buds. You would be surprised at how much you remove when you wash them.

Indoor grown plants will have pet dander, dust and other such things that I really don't want on my finished buds. I want a clean as possible product when making oils and edibles. On these two plants today, they have residuals of the DE spray I used on them for bug prevention/killing. I don't want that left on there.

I wash them (on the stems!) in a mix of lemon, baking soda and water by pushing them through the water. Then rinse with plain water using my shower head on a light stream of water to remove any residuals picked back up from the first wash. Then hang them up to drip dry before going to the pantry for the cure drying.

Train Wreck is a Sativa dominant Hybrid.
TrainWreck genetics consist of Mexican (Sativa), Thai (Sativa), Afghani (Indica), making this strain a Sativa-dominant Hybrid.

I've read good things about it from other growers, so I thought I would try one.

EDIT: for a recipe on bud washing, member "Doc Bud" had posted one somewhere. Maybe someone has quick access to that? I know it's where I got my original start to it. I just kind of do my own thing now.

Re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & M

In anticipation of the next question on washing buds, I've read questions many times about washing buds possibly removing trichomes.

Those trichomes are attached to that plant extremely securely. If a little water during a bud wash would be enough to remove trichomes, well....we would have to protect our outdoor plants every time it rained or stormed. I have looked over my buds before and after warshing, and have not seen any noticeable difference in the amount of trichs on the buds or leaves.

Just my opinion.

Here's some TrainWreck Cola's. These are trimmed a bit tighter but not completely yet. For all it went through as a youngster, I am pretty happy with her in the end. She came through it all just fine.

Next are just things I want to point out in a pic.

One, notice how far down the leaves the trichomes are. Some of them are all the way to the tip.

Second, notice the bug carcass (worm) stuck to the cut leaf. It looks alive, but it wasn't. I found several of those during the trimming.

Third, notice the grayish white areas on the leaves. That's the residuals of the Diamotaceous Earth spray I had been using. I want that washed off my buds.

The last step for my warshing is hanging them up and using the shower head on them. I believe I first started doing that after watching one of Jorge Cervantes' videos where he was outside harvesting and using a garden hose with a sprayer attachment. He was much rougher with it than I do with the shower head though.

Oh wait! I do have something. 'creme' and 'cream' are both correct. I was an English teacher so I should know, except when I just make things up. :Namaste:

Why thank you sir. I am relieved to know that I have been wrongly thinking for years that I keep messing up with that particular word.

Congrats on your harvest. Thanks for repeating back that tip. I fished a swimming lady bug out of a water glass this morning and was wondering how to make her welcome in my apparently bug free grow room. I was going to look it up again.
