Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & More!

Re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & M

I just read today someone has successfully crossed kale and cannabis....it will soon be offered as a nutritious drink at Whole Foods, called Kalabis....I don't think any of the above ideas are off the mark at all....the possibilities of cannabis are endless :cheertwo:

I HAD to look that up! By gosh, they did it. Here's an article from a site I can't post:

A Brooklyn-based lab has successfully bred the world’s first Kale x Cannabis hybrid. The company, Williamsburg Wonders, announced today that the new cross, called Kaleabis, would be available as a superfood juice shot in Oregon dispensaries this summer.

The successful cross is the culmination of a two-year project that began with a Kickstarter campaign by Williamsburg Wonders’ founders, Mark and Todd Takota. When the Takota brothers announced their desire to breed a plant with the dietary benefits of kale and the therapeutic properties of cannabis, funding poured in. The project reached its investment goal in less than a week, significantly outpacing other local investment opportunities like DIY mustache wax and kombucha colonics.

The science, however, proved more difficult. After temporarily relocating to Santa Clara, California to have better access to cannabis genetics, the Takota’s and their lab assistant Marty Stankwiller, attempted 47 different kale/cannabis crosses. Several of the outcomes were so horrific that Marty quit the team and enrolled in seminary school. The brothers considered abandoning kale and using açaí or even broccoli instead.

However, the successful cross came about when the Takota’s changed the pot, not the kale.

Switching from the temperamental Haze varieties they’d been using to the hardier indica-dominant strain Hash Plant proved successful.

According to (site name edited out) senior cultivation editor Danny Danko, “This hybrid is really mind-blowing. It’s the first cross of its kind and it could change our approach to cannabis. It could change the way we view plant breeding period.”

The Takota’s plan to launch a line of Williamsburg Wonders Kaleabis superfood drinks. A spokesperson confirmed the beverages will be available in dispensaries but acknowledged the ultimate goal of being the first cannabis product sold at Whole Foods.

Yep, that would be the article....amazing, eh?

I'd like to see a cannabis/wheat grass cross for cancer patients. Now THAT would really make me whistle Dixie :cheesygrinsmiley:

Danny Danko & Marty Stankwiller - color me skeptical :dreamy:

Danny Danko is reportedly High Times senior cultivation editor, according to the article. I had to take out the "high times" in case it wasn't allowed here.

The other one....no clue. LOL

Pics later on the grafting, but here's what's going on.

I did identify the two Master Kush plants as male yesterday. No doubts. So...thanks to Radogast reminding me of my graft experimenting, I'm not tossing them. They will be my new root stocks.

The graft I did a few days ago is not dead. I unwrapped the join and there is part of it that seems to be bonded in the middle of the cut.
It's wilted really bad, but is still soft. That's a good sign. I cut off all the leaves except the very top and will leave it go now to see if it picks up. There are a couple of very small shoots on the stem of the cut one for the graft, and they are still green. Here's hoping....

I'm going to get a success if it keelz me.
I did two more today, both custard cream clones onto the Master Kush male plant. I did one with the wedge cut to fit inside the root stock stem, and the other with the angled slices on both root stock and cutting. This time I had some plumbers tape available and got it wrapped very tightly. I cut longer cuttings as well, (Thanks LA!) and removed all of the excess leaves leaving only the top part and some tiny shoots on nodes.
I also "painted" on some clone gel before attaching the grafts. And they both have humidity bags over them.
Let's hope we get a better result this time.

You never cease to amaze... Good thing you and Light are so inquisitive cause if it were up to me... all we would ever have is Christmas tree plants in LOS...just add water...:)... I don't think I will need to worry about being able to grow from bean for a while...oh did ya know... I won the Easter contest...:)...:circle-of-love:

This looks like it may have taken. The custard Cream on Blue Blood I did on the 1st appears to be surviving. Early yet....but it's certainly better than my previous attempts. :cheertwo:

It looks weird because it sagged so much during the wilting on the first day, but if I take the prop stick away the cutting stands on it's own:

Here's the join, you can see that a majority of it did fuse together:

I misted it and put some water drops in the join area to let it soak in. That dark area you see is a drop of water causing the stem to soak in that spot.

Sooooo, on with the next two. These two did not wilt at all this time. :cheertwo:

Started with two Custard Cream Cuttings:

And two branches on the Master Kush Male. Stripped of the larger leaves. The red arrows are where I'll be grafting:

First one the "wedge" cut. I cut the root stock at a node and split it down the middle and put some watered down clonex on it:

Then cut the end of the cutting into a wedge shape and inserted it into the split stem, wrapped it good and tight with the plumbers tape and also wrapped a toothpick against it to keep it sturdy:

Next one is just slicing angles, one on the root stock and one on the cutting. Then joined them, taped them and used the toothpick for support.

On with the humidity bags and they are good to go:

That is utterly amazing....:high-five: I am getting ready to post up a few pics of the auto Urban Poison "Danielle"... I went to the shack yesterday and watered everybody and I didn't like the way she looked but I gave her a good drink of water and I am in awe of how much she grew overnight... Amazing what a drink of water can do.......:circle-of-love:

Re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & M

Dennise, is that Urban Poison, or Durban Poison? Just curious, mine is called Durban.

Yeah, they do love a good drink. Good Momma you are...

I sure hope fella is okay! Geez, he needs a body guard. Let us know when you know...so we know.

Well....I'm pulling for ya. :cheertwo:

Thanks Jim! I hope this works, then I can take it off my " I gotta try this" list. LOL

Dennise, all you have to do is post a note on your journal with your correction. No biggy, and you haven't lost your mind yet...so no pity party here for ya.

BTW, you might want to check...I think you won the Easter Egg Challenge?
