Canadian LP'S experience

Hi All,

Here is a suggestion for over dried buds. This in no way excuses the LP, but it should help your buds.

I use Boveda 62% 2 way humidity control packs when curing. Last batch got over dried in the grow tent and these packets brought them up to snuff.

Peace. :peace:

Ah ok I see now. I dont smoke anything so that harshness I dont experience.

Im thinking that a big factor in the what source is good/better/best, is the moisture content. There must be some moisture content range that is considered ready for sale. If source A buds have higher moisture content, and Source B has less - which one is the better value? Smell taste cost harshness stickiness performance are only some of he factors in an equation or rating system.

A very good point.

I have always found that the drier it gets, the harsher it gets. I agree that it should be properly cured but for premium bud, you expect a bit of life & not a bud you pick up & it starts to disintegrate.

What is the standard out there? My only point of comparison is dispensary product - which is never as dry as I what I got from Tweed.

I ordered and received some tweedmainstreet products this week. It took 24.5 hours from payment confirmed to in my hands.

Cant right now but I will do a bud and oil report soon. Have to travel plus Im thinking of what the rating variables should be. Some in my last post above.

All suggestions are :welcome:

Tweed was quick with my order as well. Please let us know your results. The main factors: eye appeal, smell, the squeeze test — firm/airy/dry, smoke taste, vape taste, effect, time period.

I have several dispensary products on hand & even 3 month old buds stored in sealed zip bags have a lot more moisture content than the 'new' Tweed examples. Tellingly, both products ran out just after I ordered them so I obviously got the dregs — so maybe they were reaching their end date. Maybe it's the cold pasteurization process — it's irradiated at some point in the drying stage — which doesn't sound particularly appetizing. Reviews on that Canadian site — the one that focuses on LP product reviews — are mostly 4-5 Star but some also mention the dryness, so I am not alone. I am glad I just bought 5 grams of each. Next LP: Broken Coast . . .

Hi All,

Emblem Cannabis sends out a Boveda 62% pack with their orders. They also have excellent storage instruction. I can't speak to product quality because the order is for a high CBD strain with 0.59% THC, but I like their professionalism.

How does one evaluate quality of such a product?

Peace. :peace:

Just their attention to the condition of the product speaks volumes. I will put them on my shortlist. Thanks.

Hi All,

Here is a pic of the Emblem Storage Tips.

Hi All,

I was thinking of moisture content and how it affects buds. In addition to a smoother smoke I was wondering if keeping the moisture around 60% helps keep the trichomes attached to the plant material.

Thoughts?

Peace. :peace:

I believe you are probably right. Maybe a 10 pack of 62% Bovedas is a wise purchase for storage AND for rehydration of LP product. And kudos to those that ship with them - and shame on the LPs that don't.

Hey Folks,

The Bovedas are great for curing or rehydrating.

For peace of mind you can throw them in a mason jar with your stash if you are keeping it for a length of time. Probably not necessary if you properly seal the jar. That means heating the jar, like you would if you were making preserves. Then put the lid on. As the jar cools it creates an airtight vacuum seal.

Jars that aren't heated and are just capped, leak air. I know this because when you open our curing cupboard you smell those sweet cannabis odours. For long term storage we went with a vacuum sealer and stashed them in the freezer. Eight or so months and the crop seems fine. Very fine.

I have read that properly sealed and stored cannabis can last years. I'm hoping our current grow will allow us to set aside 20 or more grams of the Hash Plant from our first grow last year. I'd like to see how long it keeps. Anyone have experience beyond eight months?

Peace. :peace:

I have lots left from last year July/August 2016 in Mason jars, not heat sealed and it is amazing stuff.

Never had my jars leak air and not using bipedal packs.

Oh . . . and back on topic . . .

I received order # 1 from Tweed. 2 x ¼ filled jars of 2 different strains. Both jars were stuffed with parchment paper so they wouldn't rattle. Both strains were bone dry. Close to a Sahara desert dry but both still had a slight stickiness to keep the buds from turning to dust. I don't consider this fresh weed. In a dispensary, I would refuse it. Both strains worked as advertised — Palm Tree CBD & Sun-Grown Sour Kush. Nice smell & taste vaping.

Both of the above are now out of stock.

I will be dumping Tweed & splitting my script between Broken Coast (probably) + somebody else. The Green Organic Dutchman just got their retail license & their strain list looks great.

Like most here, my goal is to grow my own.

Be careful with Tweed partners - I had two unsealed jars - the first one 15g from TweedFarms, looks like some mechanical problem during the packaging process, because I realize some smashing painting on the front labels with the name of strain. The second one was a 10g from Canadasislandgarden - but this time issue was in a glue or some issue during a sealing process - just around 20% part of cover foil was completely unsealed.

I'm not sure if unsealed jar is something terrible, but... but we want a be sure about the product quality.
Anyway in a first case, custom service by phone offered me $10 off with my next order - I refused it at all and second time even didn't spent my time calling them.

Ha. Ha. I complained as well & got a $10 off code this morning. They now have 59,000 registered customers so I guess they feel that they can afford to lose you & me.

happy for you, I prefer to grow my own... but I still waiting my grow license from 1 July it's already two month :hmmmm:
any ideas how long today people wait his licence for growing?

They seem to be taking 4 months lately. Renewal took 12 weeks.

Damn! Looks like Tweed will have my money couples month more. Anyway for now I have only COUB lights and still have to choose some DIY for DWC hydroponic project. Maybe you know some not very expensive? Many thanks!
