BWC BayArea's Largest Solo Grow to Date

Flower day 33, Triplets Flower day 64

LOL, I admit it I'm a lil lazy. Hey I'm a stoner. More to come tho. Promise. Remember I don't have help. If u see me slackin speak up, I don't mind. I need it sometimes. I don't wanna post pics everyday. People just slide thru look at pics an go. I still have questions from the beginning of the grow that weren't addressed. Don't wanna do too much. I don't know if everyone expects me to know what I'm doin but I'm learning like most others as well. People don't tend to leave suggestions, it seems more like they're waiting for the same answers. Whatever the case may be thanks for ur support and inspiration weedtastic. Keep it up. I meant to ask u about the bud rot thing. My mazar (the lil trooper) has been to hell and back and is still kickin, but she looks tattered. My concern is the browning of the pistils. After I sprayed I noticed some browning of the pistils on mazar and purple kush. Apparently the indicas are weaker than the hybrids in my experience. Purple Kush is an excellent strain, but u have to babysit that shit. Its susceptible to attack from almost anything it seems (mites, thrips, PM, gnats, etc). So any input would be appreciated. I wanna finish em both but mazar may have to come down early. And I just looked, I posted pics yesterday. How many/much do u want?
Update.
Flower Day 33, Triplets 64
Finished flushing the triplets with another 4 gal of water PHed at 6.2.4 gals of runoff PH (5.5-5.6, 380 PPM). Seems good enough to me, Got another plant to flush and didn't feel like continuing. I'll be runing back and forthe between that and the comp so check back for updates if u happen to be reading this now. The trips will probably come down in a few days. This is the start of tenth week and still no amber trichomes. The dispensary says this is a 7-8 week strain, I still don't see any THC degradation. Any how yesterday I fed the smaller 1 gals as needed and two 3 gals. I fed them the same nutes in these ratios 2 gal H2O/10mL micro/30mL bloom/10 mL grow/20 mL liquid Kool Bloom/10mL silicone solution and dilluted with more water between 1/2-3/4 strength to 900 PPM, PH 6.2. Began flushing "Rain", she's the largest in coco. PM, deficiency, and neglect screwed her up.
Rain_definciency_8-26.JPG

Bout to post pics. She's lost lots of fans and lots of yellowing upper stems purpling, P and N deficiency more than likely. This is the plan. Start flush with plain tap water PH 6.5, then flush more with filtered water, and end flush with a mild, balanced nute solution. Any suggestions b4 I finish in the next 15 min - half hour are welcome. Here are the clones after two were supercroped. Lightly watered them with filtered water PH 6.2 today (total 2 qts).

Flower Day 33, Triplets Day 64

Still flushing and updating as u read.
Finally got to the nute portion of the flush. Her runoff was 2.5-3 gal PH 5-7-5.8 borderline, 470 PPM. Now flushing with less approx 1/2 strenth nutes 770 PPM, PH 6.2. Bout to go push the 2nd gallon thru. Had to remove the triplets in order to make room for the flush. They been out of the room for a couple hours and stank up the building. At least I know my charcoal filter works cuz I don't smell much when its in the flower room. Didn't think it smelled that bad, gotta wait 4 it to dissipate b4 opening any doors.

Flower Day 34, Triplets Day 65

I feel hella dumb. I really finished, smoked, and 4got to finish my update. I've been on for hours and just looked at my shit and realized it. Anyhow, I'll be keeping an eye on "Rain" over the next week to see if the flush helped. I also watered a 3 gal (2qts) and some 1.5s, and 1 gals with filtered H2O PH 6.2. I also watered the clones. I noticed a couple small spots of PM on some small blades of lower buds. This is a concern. I wanted to harvest Friday, but with this PM issue should I 2morrow? What do U all think? They're just starting to get some decent purple hues too. I recently reintroduced nitrogen back into feeding (small amount), today I read that you should avoid excess nitrogen as a control.Maybe I should be cool on the nitrogen and let the plant take it from older leaves in bloom. With the flushing, watering, and cold night temps, humidity is and issue everyday. What I've been doin is minimizing cold air intake at night and placing a small space heater near the intake duct. keeps it nice and balanced (closer to day time temps). That's it for now. Think I'll smoke and make breakfast, or vice versa. Dunno. :peace: Oh yeah another thing I've been observing over the past 6 months is that u can observe ur native outdoor foliage (and indoor/house plants if u have any) and find some of ur largest risk factors for pests. Most pests I c outside have made their way inside at one time or another. Thrips, mites (hitch hiked in on some clones), fungus gnats,PM to name a few. Saw some white flies too, but they haven't made it in. Its good to get in the habit of recognizing the damage on different types of plants so U can readily recognize the 1st signs in ur garden. The next time ur walking, stop and look at some tree leaves, rose bushes, or just weeds growing, I'm almost positive that u'll fin something. I noticed that some weeds (that keep growing back) are dying of PM. I guess is all a part of the balance of nature. Weeds propogate like mad and PM comes and keep the population in check. I enjoy witnessing the small things in life sometimes, they remind me to slow down, take it in, and be thankful that I'm still here to see them.

We'll soon see

They looked cool. Its hot as hell today so humidity is lower. Last I checked a couple hours ago temp was around 79.3F RH 49%. I wanna catch em tomorrow b4 the lights come on. U know I'll post pics. They've been in there 9+ weeks. Doesn't look like the purps I was hopin for is gonna happen. I sprayed with a neem based product in week 5 for mites and it worked. Stress from mites and countermeasures greatly diminished the yield. I made a few mistakes as well, long the way and learned a few things. All in all if the final flush was sufficient, I anticipate a good finish. The beauty of this strain is that even when things occur that may adversely impact harvest its so resilient that u still get a good crop. I've been on this strain for close to a year and I've never had a bad crop. I've have a stellar one too. I've seen the good and the bad so I;m learning to manipulate the strengths in order to compensate for weakness. I had a plant begin to flower on its own while under attack by mites. The only thing that I felt may have caused it was a 5 hour outage during an 18 hour light period (in the middle). No others flowered prematurely. She was around 3 ft in veg, w/ fat stem. I read that resin is a defense mechanism for cannabis (don't know how factual that is but it made sense to me). It traps parasitic insects. U ever see a bud in a garden with fungus gnats? Like fly paper. NE how, I'll take pics (not of gnats on buds, none of those here). Hope its not too hot when I have to dry and manicure. Cutting into this stuff sometimes feels like ur breathing in light, fragrant, gas fumes (not like petrol, natural gas) when manicuring. Think they'll be between 60-70g finished. Dunno. I'll take a reference pic (if I don't forget) with a gallon water bottle or 2 liter or somethin to give u all a better idea of the actual size. So sit tight. I can't wait to free up some space in there. May be now I can clean the lower canopy of buds and leaves receiving little to no light. NE 1 think it too late to do so in order to beneficially affect harvest?

Don't think I'll be BUMPing Today

wakey wAKEY LAZY ASS lol and you dare call me ? lol c mon wots your excuse then ? get postin!

I laugh every time I read this post. LOL.

sillyolpun, as for the BUMP, I'm good. Most of the people who respond will be on later, plus it gets slow on weekends NE ways. As for the lack of responses, I'm like this, if I really need to know, I dig. If I dig alone, I enjoy the spoils alone. U should comb this thread and count how many unanswered questions are in the thread, LOL I'm used to it. Thanks for ur support sillyolpun. It is appreciated.

Flower Day 35, Triplets Flower Day 66 Final Day.

*Update*
I added another fan to better circulate air below the canopy beneath the 600W. To better deal with humidity, temps, and to discourage pests from inhabiting my media.

I haven't been logging it in but I rotate the pots a few times a week. Did so today.

if your havesting friday then dont bother with a clean up. if you were going 2-3 weeks more I might trim some...but minimize that for stress and recovery times.

Questions and Reponses

I can't wait to free up some space in there. May be now I can clean the lower canopy of buds and leaves receiving little to no light. NE 1 think it too late to do so in order to beneficially affect harvest?
I'm only harvesting the triplets (in one pot). Every thing else has at lest 4 weeks. The remaining plants are the one I want to clean up a bit (lower leaves, branches and buds not receiving much light). I'm just gonna say fuck it, do it, and hope I still hit my mark. I'm just gonna say this and I believe this is the real reason I don't get many responses, I speak my mind. Pit and Dean. The responses clearly show that u haven't read the question or don't understand it. Its clear, Last 3 lines of post #127. If u just take ur time and read U'd see. As I said b4 I don't want to waste posts like this on dialogue in my journal. Some of u have so much chit chat between updates in your journal that I unsubscribed because I end up with lots of useless emails and it takes to long to search ur journal not just for info but for the poster's last post just as a reference point. If I think this way, it only make sense to assume others may too. Pit urs (journal) is on of em, not taking anything away from ur grow. Absolutely phenomenal. I guess this bothers me because when I goto other journals and thread and see a question especially ones that receive, no or unsatisfactory responses I do my best to answer the questions. If I have to read I read. If I have to type a paragraph of some1 elses work and cite my sources, its done. I get frustrated because there's only maybe 1 person who has consistently reciprocated and we have dialogue regularly thru PM and in our profiles. This is all I'm sayin and if this turn u off from my journal I understand. Thanks for reading this much.

Oh I'm feeling ya bro on that. I wish I had those numbers during the outside day (my plant's night). I had measured at a temp probe just under the canopy of a max 74 degrees over the course of the last plant's day but 12 hours preceding that had shown a temp of 94 degrees. It just can't be good to have a 20 degree hotter night than day. Just ain't natural!

I wish I could be of more help but I just don't have the experience yet.

Flower day 35, Triplets Hravested Flower Day 66

1st off I didn't mean to offend anyone with my prior posts. That's just how I am, I speak my mind. If it bothers any1 I suggest u unsuscribe because it won't change. With that said, thanks weedtastic, I guess everyone has their reasons. Harvested triplets earlier. My intentions were to take a reference pic with something like a 2 Litter bottle to show the actual size of the plants. That didn't happen, it was hot as vomit breath in there today (90F at time of harvest, 85F now w/AC on high). I just wanted to get it cut into sections and get the large fans off to hang to dry. That's what happened. I did take a few pics however. The trips averaged 2' each. I expect around 60g dry (I'm not good at eyeballing wet to dry weight). I checked trichomes about 60% milky didn't see many amber trichs. I normally harvest at 50/50 (milky/clear). Hug to dry in box. I took like 4 or 5 pics and some how only one made it. Oh well, it looks like the same plant from yesterdays pics minus larger fans and limbs cut into lengths to be hung to dry. Sorry, Ur not really missing NE thing. 1 pic made it
buds_in_natural_light_with_flash_8-28.JPG

Everything else has at least another month. If I feel up to it I'll be cleaning up necrotic foliage and spindly growth, and foliage that receives little to no light. That's it. Thanks 4 stopping by.

Flower Day 36

Okay so after feeding yesterday I had left over nutes so I left them overnight in a bucket with an airstone. and covered it so my humidity wouldn't go up as a result. I shoulda left the pump in as well. When I went to feed today I PHed 1st and there was a .5 spike, white foam, and bubbles. I tried a res for soil b4. Its hard to predict how much a plant will use in a certain time period especially since outdoor weather affects us indoors more so this time of year. I've seen this b4 and was told that bacteria are beginning to thrive in my nutes (I shoulda kept the fluid circulating). The way I was taught to remedy this is to use a cap of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide per gal. I was reading a post that says its supposed to break down to water and oxygen after a couple days. I didn't have a couple days. Good thing is I didn't incorporate beneficial into this grow so I don't have to worry about killing them. I fed ans needed, the same bloom mix minus the Uncle John's Blend (I gotta get some more but don't wanna give up another $60 for a bottle, but I gotta do it). The left over's were PH 6.3, 810 ppm. I mixed another 2.5 gals around half strength, PH 6.3, 840 PPM. I kinda had to back off on the nutes, I noticed one with the same spots on the foliage that was on the triplets when I jacked up the PPMs on their last feed. The highest I've gone with these is 950 PPM.I'm thinking the thresh hold for smaller pots or multi plant pots is around 900 PPM. Bigger plants in larger pots seem to be handling it ok. Another thing I noticed is how tough that the silcone solution has made the leaves and petioles. I noticed this when cleaning mu canopy up. The petioles snap easier and seem more rigid as do the leaves. Its said that this increases the plants resistance to pest attacks, i can see that. Any how I cleaned up the lower growth on all pots but the most of the 1 gal pots. I'll let them grow single colas SOG style buds. I also spaced pots out a little better. Both of these actions I'm hoping helps increase the yield from the tops. Another thing. PM is back and I don't really wanna spray everything again. Some of the smaller and weaker plants are displaying signs of phytotoxicity (white "bleach" spots on leaves mainly) from spraying. I guess I didn't mix it strong enough, next batch will be stronger. I just don't wanna spray my buds. Some pistils browned up on my from last time, mainly the Mazar and the PK. Here are a few pics of how they look after they clean up job and spacing pots. This is under the 600W

Here's under the 400W

These are the largest in the room. They need the space that was created by the harvest.

Oh yeah the only pic I could retake. Here's the triplets in a dry box.
triplest_in_dry_box_8-29.JPG

I think next week I'll focus on flushing things. Maybe a few pots a day starting with the smallest. That's all I got 4 now. I typed thru 420, gotta go make it up. :peace:
