Build Your Own LED Grow Light

I am thinking of swapping 4 vero 29's for two Chilled Logic 100W PCB's that would be a 200 Watts for 200 Watts . Drivers are 320H1400 Meanwell currently driving 6 vero's in seris for a total consumption of 220V I want to change that to 4 vero's and one chilled led for a total consumtion of 195 V. Both configurations are with in the 229 V supplied . Will the different voltages for the Vero LED's and Chilled LEDs affect the performance of either?

The voltage should adjust to the components you hook up to the driver as long as the total is within in the voltage range, and the current is well under the 2,3 amp max of the logic100.

Theoretically calculated: 1,4A x 45v = 63w x 1,07(driver efficiency loss) = 67,41w AC draw per logic100.

thanks for the reply

a hundred and twenty eight grams from 4 plants?
4.5 oz from 4 plants?
what am I missing here?
thats a pathetic yield

Like salt said, 12/12 from start, 1 gallon of medium, 250ish watts, I was estatic with what I got.

I actually ended up throwin out 33 grams ( plant #3 ) because it tasted like crap, and smelled "Off". I noticed during dry, the leafs had a dull, almost moldy look. WHen i took a pic, you can see it, but not really with the eye test. So, I ended up just throwin it out, *shruggs. The other 3, perfect. The tallest, last done, it great.

Now, I have 2 in solo cups that I started 12/12 from seed, ( 6 ) and once they showed sex, I took out males, and ended up with 2 females that I put back under 16hours on, no night initiation. Topped at the 4th node, and going to be grooming for a scrog. Going to veg for a month, then flip. So should get a true "GPW" range off that.

Good stuff Mayne! If you're happy with results, thats good....but as you go on the results will only get better! :)
Although....solo cups may be a bit too small to get much of a yield."Keep 'em green bruddah!"

nah man, i transplanted them into 3 gallons fabs, looking great!

after the transplant, they are looking nice, cloned the stinkiest of the 2 for fem seeds. I love how they are growing. The others are on the flush mode, and taken out of the light some to reduce PAR. These are 11 days in the 3gallons, gett ing them ready to scrog. Looking at about 60 colas right now from the 2, and if i can get them the size of the 12/12 run, WOW, lol. The last big cola was 16 g dry on my last run with the bagseed, these are FireOG cross i created. should definitely hit 2.5gpw, The bud on this current is giant ive ever seen

Got my light built yesterday. About 300 watts, 15 Bridgelux strips, in a 2x2 frame.

That’s a beautiful build farside :bravo:. I love those strips, so versatile. I’m gonna copy your design when I make one for a veg area (which is years away really, but I’m planning for it now!)

I haven’t checked in for a while cause I’ve been busy just trying to get one finished myself, which I have now, so I thought I’d share :)

It’s made with 5 Samsung panels, each with 128 diodes @ 48v, 3500K. I plan to use it in a single 80x80x180cm tent (2.5 x 2.5 x 6’). The driver is HLG185-C700A. It gives me 75 watts turned all the way down and about 186watts on full. I have it set at 166watts for now.

The frame is 2 x 3mm alu angle rails, 2 of the same in the middle (to take the driver), and the rest are lighter 1.5mm alu angle. I bolted everything, including the boards which means I can rearrange or replace easily in the future.

This was my final drawing for it, which includes my wiring (series) plan.

I got the stock cut to size at a local supplier. :thumb: (was cheaper than buying raw materials, and - no cutting!)

Thanks for starting this thread, it’s been helpful. ANd it’s nice to have another place to show it of :ganjamon: HOnestly I couldn’t be more stoked :thumb:

Nice looking build Amy. There's a certain satisfaction to building your own that you don't get buying a premade light. It gives you one more reason to smile when you unzip the tent.

Really sweet build you have here! Love those strips... May I ask what spectrum you used here?

And just a quick note, I was reprimanded by 420 staff yesterday for posting my DIY because I posted a full pic of the driver... I shoulda blocked the name out. Just letting you know. Great Build!!

Thanks. I opted for 3500k. I was considering either 3000 or 3500, and when I went to order, 3000 was out of stock. It made my decision easier.

Hey jerm, so I was right about that :hmmmm: And then, you know, after I very carefully edited it out of all (so I thought) of my pics just in case, i missed one  . I wonder if I can edit it on site. And sorry you got a reprimand, but really, theye’re just doing what they have to to comply with their contracts. I think they understand that it’s not easy for everyone to be accross every detail of that. I don’t mind editing my pics a bit to comply :rollit:
