Budworshipper's CFL Auto Flowering Small Cabinet Journal

Ive been trawling ebay n the like... Got my eye on 3 options..

Cfl, led, hps..... Not gonna bid til last second anyway, so i have time to procrastinate :):):)

All sitting at reasonable prices...

Flexibility is also a consideration ..

Good news... The bean that got planted, has now fully opened the shoot leaves and already showing emerging true leaves..

Currently the blue side of the bulb is pointing down. Approx 3" away from seedling, to minimise stretch in early stages.

I was kinda thinking what to call her..... Then my blue cheese addled mind had an idea...

In tribute to our temporarily absent, Latvian friend i shall name her CERDITO !!!!

Welcome to the world little Cerdito, may you bring forth many buds !!

:peace:

Here is a quick pic of Cerdito at 2 days old, staying compact under the close light

I see a lot of people throwing around 'watts' as a comparison between lights. The efficiency of the source is a major factor, that's often neglected. Modern LED's are nearly twice as efficient at converting electricity to photons as CFL's (and ten times as efficient as incandescent). There's also the effect of concentrating the electricity into producing wavelengths that the plants really want (red and blue, mainly). LED's are about 15% more efficient than HPS, too.

If you like DIY, buy LED's and power supplies on ebay, build your own lights. I have 300 watts or about 36,000 lumens in my grow space, and the plants are incredibly thick and bushy.

That's my tuppence worth.

PM me if you want detailed instructions on building LED lamps...

Never easy to decide on something. Especially when it comes to a big expense like a new light. I'm sure you will make a good decision in the end buddy!

The 200 watt red/blue unit cost me about $100 USD to build. If you have old computers to salvage fans and heatsinks out of, it will cost you about $45 per 100 watt lamp unit.

Is there not a danger with doing your own electrics if you don't know what you are doing? Not to be a party pooper or anything but there are so many horror stories of DIY electrics burning down grows and houses :)

Safety first with electrics ;)
