Bud Washing

Cal and Lone*

I have been following This Thread from the beginning and I have two crops successfully washed then low and slow dried.

Following the recommendations of sweet Sue and others.
Cut
then rinse
then they hang for 4 hours
then paper bag, ( leave space to breathe)
Remove bags from refrigerator for 1 hour a day then place back in refrigerator. Do this every day for two weeks then begin taking the dryer product putting it in jars and checking the humidity after sealing them up for a few hours. If humidity goes over 68% put it back in the refrigerator I keep mine in the jars at this point until I can maintain 68% or lower with the lid on.

I hope this helps.

Copied and pasted into notes, thank you!

The plan is to chop, remove large fans only, and wash tomorrow, let drip/dry for 4-5 hours??, then jar up and dry using the "Low & Slow" method in the fridge. Then final trim/manicure?? Then into jars with 62% Boveda for cure. Burping daily. Did I miss anything??

Letting them hang and dry (after chop/wash) for 24-32 hours isn't enough for them to drip dry?

I am just trying to figure out how long they need to hang and dry after the wash before I can put them in the refrigerator.

Kieth has your back on this one.
Personally, I won't be doing the "Low and Slow" so I no longer subscribe to the thread SweetSue created, but his advice is spot on if that is what you want to do.

I've done about 30 bud washes. I find my stems stop dripping after about 30 minutes and are dry to the touch in about 2 hours - but 4 hours is what has been tested with Slow and Low.

Alright people Ive washed once and no doubt dident do it right and had some Baking soda residue. I like the strait water idea. I saw no problem soaking them and curing. The only neg. thing was harshness from residue.
Im here to say Ive got Russet Mites. I can see why bud washing is done just needs to be done correctly. Rinse them girlies good!
Great Day 420.

That is why some people use 2 buckets with plain water for rinsing. If you are unsure that you have rinsed properly then run your branches under a shower in the bath or with a hose outside. I watched a video of bud washing done by jorge cervantes, he does a quick 2-step wash just to give you an idea of how it is done. He doesnt use the lemon and baking soda, just thr h2o2 wash and then a rinse.

So I picked up a quart of this fire breathing 29% concentrated Nutrilife H2O2.
If I go 3 gallons plain old water in the first bucket I would use 1/9th gallon or so on this HOT H2O2.
This maths isn't overly complicated...ratio 1 to 3 when using 3%, so a 29% would cut the volume down by a factor of 9.6 or so.
Figgered I would throw it out to the group. 1 Gallon = 128 oz. 1/9.6 Gallon = 13.33 oz.

a ratio of 1 to 3 becomes 1 to 29
29 is almost 32 so that is 1 oz 29% H202 to 1 Quart of water, 4 oz to 1 gallon of water, 12 oz to 3 gallons of water.

So the rough estimate of 12 oz matches your math of 13.33 oz

LOL from the great white north, you guys need to switch to metric, ratio's are a breeze

Back in 1977 I realized some half pints of scotch were 200ml and other half pints of scotch were 250ml. They both got me nice and drunk.
Never noticed, I was drinking Thunderbird. Anyone remember Thunderbird ? 1 qt. for $1 !! And trust me, one qt. was plenty ! And one $ was worth one $ !! The good old days !! Pot was not around the mid west, when I was going to high school in the late 50s-early 60s. Then I moved to L.A. in 64 !!
How you liking the new location ?? Hope all is good ?

Needing help which i cant find an answer for, and it off topic from bud washing.

Have to put plants into dark for approx 18 hours once a week as opposed to 12 hours after being in light for 6 hours. Got 2 plants on the balcony which i am now bringing in at 8pm, placed in dark cupboard with no light leaks, and taking out at 8am (got streetlights which may hurt flowering but have shown preflowers (on 1 anyway) while out there with the lights). Will this extended period of dark time once a week hurt them?

In a nutshell brought in at 8pm one night, out at 8am the following day, then back into darkness at 2pm and left till the following morning at 8am. This happens every tue night to wed as got visitors round for dinner. Cant leave them on the balcony while they up.

I'm enjoying the midwest.

Lots of people I meet can carry on honest conversations, some of them interesting conversations, and almost all of them polite conversations. This is very refreshing.

Plants LOVE to grow here. My best landscaping year ever.

and to throw in something on topic, my basement here has a laundy sink I don't use for laundry.

I put a five gallon bucket of lukewarm wash in the corner of the sink and cool rinsewater in the (clean) sink.
Add a chair in front and a plantstand near my right hand with a tray of bud stalks to be washed.

Left hand rinses for the count of 30,
right hand washes for the count of 30,
then

Left hand releases the rinsed buds into a corner of the sink and drains the washed over the bucket,
right hand gathers a new bundle of stalks to wash,
then

Repeat until everything is rinsed,
then

Rinse briefly and hang to drip dry.

Hiker, when cycling your nugz through the buckets, especially the hottest one, aren't you concerned that you will be washing off the frost? A year ago, I bought an Oz from a guy for 200. They looked and smelled so good that I thought it was a sure thing. After smoking some and have others make too to make sure I wasn't crazy, sure as shit, the stone was so mild and only held for 5 minutes max. I never bought another thing from the guy and used to swear that he shook all the kief off the buds somehow to make hash and sold me the worthless buds. I am now wondering if those buds were washed a little too aggressively. What's your take?

I think he ran it as oil and sold you the leftovers lol

Either ran them though a screen or the pheno grew weak! After years of cloning I heard they looks and smell amazing but have very little thc either way prob a good choice not to go back to that person :) I dream of the day I can wash my buds... long way off tho hahaha

When I washed I laid the buds on a old sheet in the back yard to drain then hung. This was the best part of it. Much better than washing and hanging which I did also. If I wash again Im not exactly sure the mixture I will use but Pigeon 420mags utube video had me use Baking Soda and I think I wont do that. Residue. Hydrogen Peroxide? Wow! Ewww, I wonder how good the peroxide is for mites??? I made my own green cleaner my friends, 2oz ISO to 1 gal water. It works!!!! Russetmotherfuckingmites might have me washing this grow too. I hope I can keep them out of my tent. Great weekend my friends.
