I mostly agree. I do agree for ice but for butane It will take water with fresh frozen and cause a sparky product... sometimes :cheesygrinsmiley:

Somehow I got it in my head that I wanted dry material for extractions with solvents, other than ice water. I've been storing my sugar trim as fresh frozen for hash, but recently started experimenting with other solvents (ethanol and butane). I know with ethanol, the water is be a problem. That's why it's best to do this at below freezing temps. I didn't consider Butane's different chemical properties. I just finished a harvest on Christmas. Unfortunately, I dried all of the popcorn smaller stuff. I guess I will fresh freeze that stuff too next time. So water doesn't interfere with the extraction when using butane huh? I've got all this dry material to use up now. I guess I'll see for myself what difference it makes. Good to know I can use all this trim intended for hash also. Dry = more.

Because it can get ground up to allow all surfaces to be washed... but fresh material can offer smaller but tastier runs that range in color from white to medium yellow. For best taste I like to take whatever I am going to run fresh and cut with scissors into small bits that can dry fast. I put it in a paper bag till it is wilted down and starting to dry BUT NOT DRY. I don't freeze this because when you take the weed out it gathers condensation that can get in your run and make it sparky. I do put my solvent in the freezer and get it as cold as I can.

When I want the most I dry completely and powder it first

my quartz castle finally chipped a bit after a year of using... yeah I know, I have titanium too but I like glass. I have not got the quartz banger, still waiting so I might look at alternatives, anybody have a favorite?

the hand vacuum pump is killing me lol
and the bottle doesn't always seal well
so maybe down the line im gonna have to buy one of those electric vacuum pumps with the container

I got a vac pump for $35 delivered. Might be more to HI though.
Built the manifold, ie valves T's etc, from parts at the local hardware store.

Phone died about 10 minutes ago, or I'd post a pic of the little rig. Works awesome!

Hiya Buckshot. Hope you are well and your garden is green. I am a huge fan of your extracts and want to embark on my first attempt as soon as I get home. I am so new to all of this and realize that this would be a perfect way to discretely keep medicine available for all occasions. I apologize in advance for asking some questions that might be obvious to many, but does your final product have detectable odor (i.e. if a random person were to open the concentrate container and smell it would they detect certain smells), what kind of shelf life does it have, what is the best way to preserve it to maintain the longest shelf life, and do its qualities and/or potency degrade over time even under the best storage conditions? Thank you a million dabs (that I don't have...yet) for your thoughts Buckshot. All the best to you sir!
