BrixNewb's First Grow & Beyond

How do you clone in perlite? Same as soil?

Pure perlite. Hole about 1in up from the bottom. Keeps a layer of water in the bottom and maintains the moisture in the mass of the perlite.
They look like this....

Dump fresh water in every 2 days. Push out the old... just like a hempy pot.

I have adapted it with my hempy Solo cups and a Ziploc bag.

Oh that'll only work for 1 or 2 clones.... not nearly enough! I clone in large batches often picking only the best ones to grow. Great config tho... I did exactly that for a long time.

I just put my first hempy clone attempt into a hempy pot. I took the clone on 1/28 and didn't plant it deep enough in my Solo cup, so about a week ago I planted it a bit deeper. When I took it out a week ago it had a nice callus, but no roots. The fan leaves were still nice and green, no yellowing. I think I put a 1/4 strength nutrients in it at the beginning. I put more water in a week ago. Today I went to check on it and she had some awesome, healthy roots. @SweetSue should be by later with some pictures of the action. This was my first cloning attempt with perlite and was a total success. Very easy!

@Jgrowlove, You full a hempy solo cup with perlite, soaked in 1/4-strength nutrients. Pot the cutting up in this and cover with a dome to keep humidity levels up. As you can see, Brix and I have used lots of creativity with the dome idea. :laughtwo:

It’ll take up to 2 weeks, and it helps to have the matrix at a temperature comparable to root development. If you feel concerned you can change out the water, but that’s not really necessary, in my experience.

You’ll get roots like this....

Brix’s veg tent is looking much happier these days. :slide:

Octopot, Kit and hempy oh my.............
:goodjob::nomo:
Right now I have DBHB Kit, Hempy, and Octopot plants going and on the nutrient side I have DBHB Kit, Texas Tomato, New Millennium, and Mega Crop going. There is definitely plenty of experimentation going on this way!

I heard from MajicJim this morning with his opinion of PC 1 & PC 2, I left him with the those so he could try first thing in morning , I'll let him post his findings ........
I can't wait to hear what he decides!

In the previous post I forgot that I also have RX Green Technology nutrients as well, so running three growing mediums and five nutrient lines. It has been way easier than I ever thought. Everything so far has done well.

I got the feedback from MagicJim I was waiting on. He was testing my DBHB Pineapple Chunk against the Texas Tomato Pineapple Chunk. So far the results have been mixed with about a 50/50 mix. MagicJim and Rooster1 both chose the same sample which turned out to be the Texas Tomato Pineapple Chunk. This tells me that the kit and the TTF both grow some great bud. Very excited to get some more nutrient lines tested out and get another TTF plant in the jars for more testing. Exciting times!

I’ll have more pretty pictures tomorrow when I’m more rested. Brix and I have a couple harvests tomorrow.

More in the morning, I promise. Wait ‘till you see the stems on the Octopot girls! o_O

That's one of the best PCs I've seen. They're notorious for their uncooperative 'tude.

Nice work! :bravo:

Nice work! :bravo:
And I think that's probably my worst looking PC. But thank you nonetheless. She was vegged for a long time, three months or so, without a recharge, so she went into flower looking rough.

I had a beautiful sativa dom pineapple chunk a few years ago. I really liked it and so did everyone who tried it. When picking seeds to run I always pause at those seeds thinking I should give it another run. I will someday. Nice job Brix.
I wasn't so lucky so far. The PCs I have gotten so far as about the same, good smoke, but nothing to write home about.

Things are going good out my way. I am in full mad scientist mode trying out the hempys, the Octopots, and I am still running the kit. For nutrients I am running DBHB kit, Texas Tomato, RX Green Technologies, New Millennium, and I have just started Mega Crop 2.0. I am really enjoying switching things up and the results have been WAY better than I ever expected. Most every nute system has been a breeze to use and has my plants looking nice and lovely. I think I will have some pictures for you guys later today or tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by.

The promised view of wonder.....

God... it’s good to be back. :slide: Too tired for much narrative, but I do have some pretty shots of the amazing job he’s doing.

I was struck by the dramatic difference in stem size and strength between the plants growing with the kit and the Octopot girls.

You’re welcome. :hugs:

Candy Cane be chunky! :thedoubletake::goodjob::blunt:
She is chunky and she just keeps foxtailing. Her strong branches are starting to get weighed down.

Woah those definitely look like outdoor plants! Might need a hand saw to cut them down! Every one looks amazing too even with all of the different chemovars, mediums and nutrients!
:bravo:
These ones haven't gotten to what I consider an "outdoor plant" look yet. Since the first Octopot plant stretched so much I have been trying to play it safe and ended up flipping these too soon. The Zam x Pan has some monster fans, so I am interested to see if she gives me a decent stretch. I hope so, I have her on top of a bucket to get her at the canopy level. But yes, even with all the experimentation they all seem to be doing really well. I have definitely proven that I can follow simple instructions! That's literally all I am doing is following the instructions on the bottles and tips from other members.

That Candy Cane is something else ...... mouth watering for sure...... Damn good job Brix.....
She really is. Gorgeous, dark green, and frosty as can be! The smell has that Candy Cane edge, I really look forward to taking her down. I am sure some of it will find it's way into your hands.

We have the same cross of Zam x Pan by @Morglie but from different seeds I believe. Mines didn't stretch nearly as much as the Royal Cookies but man is she interesting! Unique flavorful smoke!
Yes sir, same seed stock, so they are sisters! I wanted to get more sativas in my mix because I had been growing nothing but indicas and hybrids, so Sue suggested popping Zam x Pan. I am really interested to see how she turns out, this plant is quite healthy and vigorous! Hoping she will stretch a bit for me. But the Royal Cookies stretched a LOT! She is a monster plant, but not TOO tall thankfully. Just last night we were admiring how there were bud sites all over. Have you harvested Royal Cookies yet?
