BrixNewb's First Grow & Beyond

Brix, what has the humidity been the past few days?
I was at 20%rH yesterday- way too dry!!..great for late flowering im told, not so great for growth especially newborns, im told too.
:)

That's one of my current problems, too.
Last grow, the RH was too high. Now I struggle to keep it above 25%. Even with good air turnover, the RH is only 40 - 60% consistently once the plants are bigger and transpiring more.

Humidity was anywhere between 60%-75%. The small tent I can keep humidity pretty much wherever I want it. One day I had it up over 90%.

I don't think RH is my problem. I have a whole room humidifier in the big tent, a regular humidifier in the little tent, a regular humidifier in the room that the tents are in and I have a 70 pint dehumidifier if I need.

Update time. Got hold of a decent camera, so I took some pictures that came out alright. The little ones got some water today. Switched them from LED to HID and the growth doesn't seem much different, maybe I forgot how slow they grow or maybe something else is going on. Either way, they are coming along slowly but surely. Dark Devil is actually doing pretty well under the old style Mars Hydro lights in my opinion. Dark Devil is throwing pistils and looks like there is purpling starting at the tips of some leaves. I have been watering with a Solo cup as I don't believe she has the root structure to take a full on drench of her 7 gallon pot. This has been an interesting grow for me to say the least. Plenty of learning going on.

Really nice clean pics. That DD looks so sinister. Makes me want it! Damn you Dark Devil growers! Those leaves, is it a trick of light or are they olive in color?

No Shig, they aren't really olive. They are a lighter green, guess the camera saw it differently. I had also sprayed them with a dark foliar that morning, so that could be part of it.

I wanted to see if you guys thought these seedlings were on track for 8 days above ground? I think they are a little small, but this is only my second grow. I have been letting them dry out and then watering until run off. Quarter in picture for reference. Thanks in advance.

Looks good to me. 1 gal pot?
As long as it is healthy, I don't get too concerned about overall size unless I'm experienced with the particular strain and know what to expect (almost never).

1 gallon pots indeed. I am ok with "looks good to me." They seem happy and healthy, reaching up to the sky, so I will take a chill pill.

These autos. What a heartbreak for me. One left, Dark Devil. The rest I overwatered and stunted to the point of no return. Dark Devil made it through and I was extra cautious not to overwater. She is healthy and happy, and yesterday she got her first drench, Growth Energy, and I made sure to drain her as well as I could. I was a little apprehensive about drenching her just yet, but today I am happy to report that she is doing great after her drench. I really need this girl to pull through for me because I am almost out of bud and it's looking like I will have to dip into the stash that I wanted to cure for a few months if things keep going the way they are. I am babbling, on to the pictures.

Last night I happened to measure her, she was 6 inches. It is now a little over 12 hours later (including 4 hours of darkness) and she is 7 inches! Guess it's safe to say that she is in the stretch.

lmao...the little engine that could.

HANG TOUGH DOUBLE D!!!

Thanks brother. She is doing her thing so far. I think she has some solid roots and I am going to start keeping her wetter than I was previously, see if we can finish strong.

Hey Brix, your seedling looks good to me. She is building lots of roots right now so I wouldn't worry at all about the lack of growth above the dirt. I've got 3 seedlings that are 3 weeks old and just starting their 3rd set of leaves. Yours will do fine.

Thanks neiko, that's what I am hoping. I am letting them dry out and then watering until runoff trying to build a good root structure. It worked well for me on my first grow, so I am continuing it on this grow.

Update time! Just going to caption the pictures on this one, not a ton to report.

Durban Poison is still just a little guy. I am thinking the slow growth may be due to the fact that I did not amend or cook the soil after harvesting the last crop.

Grapefruit Diesel

This guy has a friend growing in the pot with him. No idea what it is, but I think they are friends.

Pineapple Chunk seems to be the heartiest of the three. Has the most growth and is the biggest so far.

Dark Devil is 30 days old today. Not much upward growth lately, what I have noticed is the two lowest nodes are growing out and setting themselves up. Not sure that this plant will yield much at all to speak of, but time will tell.

I did some LST to Dark Devil in order to get more light on some of the lower growth and bring the top level with some of the side branching. Most of the growth I am seeing lately is side branching growing upwards. The plant has remained about the same height.

Also I have done some searching and given it some thought and it appears that my soil energy just isn't there thanks to my omission of cooking the soil and planting right after harvest. I do have two kits not, so I have a batch of soil cooking that will be ready 2/15/2016. Going to let the seedlings continue to go until then. I gave Pineapple Chunk a scaled down Rescue Drench last night to see if I couldn't things back on track. Time will tell.

Interesting. My soil seems to be similar = no energy. However, I did let it cook and used a heave rescue drench. It helped but something still isn't quite right. My GASS look about like your DD 3 weeks after the flip.

I'm pulling for ya brix. I harvested my pineapple chunk a few weeks ago. It's well worth the effort if you can save her. This strain is ranking right near my top of hb strains I've tried. There are a few phenotypes of it, mine was very sativa dominate. It tastes wonderful and starts with nice strong cerebral high and settles into a non-couchlocking body buzz. My concentration increases a lot with this strain........I wish I would of cloned it. Mine went 77 days fyi.

Doc has mentioned getting the pots off floor if the floor is cold, but I am sure you already have that covered. It's a learning process, I have to think that it's the lack of the cook that has me moving so slowly. I wouldn't be too worried about the GASS though brother, if I remember right on my first grow it took my plants a while to flower up as well.

I appreciate it Neiko. Pineapple Chunk is doing the best out of all of them, but I have at least one more seed of it in case I decide to pull it. I have some roots down to the bottom of the pot, so I am hopeful for PC. I am giving all of the seedlings until next Monday or so to get with the program or I am going to stop wasting my time with them and pull them.

Ok guys, a little comparison of Pineapply Chunk since it got the scaled down Rescue drench last night.

The leaves look like crap, but it was pretty explosive growth overnight. Hoping I see healthy new growth and improved growth rate. Time will tell.

Dark Devil was 5 weeks above ground yesterday. She is forming trichomes on the leaves, pistils are there, some starting to turn. Wondering when she is going to stretch and bulk, fingers still crossed. Not much darkening going on either, but I am alright with that.

On to the little guys. No picture of Durban Poison, she doesn't seem to be doing so good and is headed for the cull.

Pineapple Chunk is doing alright. Older leaves have some necrosis, but new leaves seem to be healthy.

Grapefruit Diesel also has some necrosis on the older leaves, but new growth is looking good. I have no idea who Grapefruit D's friend is either, but it seems to be a nice little guy, so it lives.
