British Stoner 1st Time Grow

I was surprised by how crappy and how little root I had on my first 2 grows, which I only really saw when I pulled the plants at the end.
I over watered, so the roots never had to do any searching and there was so much humidity they didn't transpire properly.
This time, I used H and G Roots Excellurator on some cuttings from a mother, I was given and I am quite impressed with that.

This 3rd grow has been my best up until now.
I had been reading up on defoliation and did a fairly hefty one at day 21.
Never seen do much disagreement about defoliation !!! so I'll have to experiment
I think I'm getting a little nute burn now as the leaf tips and very edges are browning.

This hobby keeps you on your toes.

The top pic looks like a root issue to me. ...
Just looked at my notes:

- I transplanted them 14days ago and tbh I wasn't happy with the soil, felt it couldv'e done with more perlite and I poured boiled water through the soil and allowed to cool before using to remove any potential eggs.
- added diatomaceous earth 7days ago
- minor light disruption 5days ago

Now you mention root issue, I can see that being the problem..

I have air pots for the mother plants which help with root growth and they've all seemed healthy to me. And I know I'm not even watering optimally, my setup makes cleaning run-offs difficult so I water enough to feel the pot be properly wet and use a water meter. I hadn't entirely followed Emilya's super awesome watering instructions (I'd check it if you haven't!) due to my set-up, back pain etc and they've been decent roots growing. When I'm able I'll upgrade the way I do things/ buy equipment.

I think roots have a relation to humidity and with the RH issues you've also been having in addition to overwatering, I'm not surprised.

Regarding defol I also did it day 21 and then day 42-43 and then yellowing/brown leaves here and there since, I don't think it pushed out much from it, increased airflow sure but in my opinion they didn't stretch much and just made them look skinny lol (need an updated pic of the mothers in abit). Will try again with a different strain a bit later into flowering and see..

I'll take note of the rooting product, cheers.

Update:

Day 47 (7th wk) of flowering: *(131days since germination)
First 4 images are Special Queen and the last 2 are North Thunderfuck, may put them under 48hr darkness and cut them down end of next week or the week after, looks like 3% amber but I may aswell be blind with these pic quality lol - any suggestions?

So mine says 7-8 weeks for Special queen and 8-9wks for Thunderfuck. Just go by the effects you want vs what your plant is telling you.Usually its a few weeks more than the breeders say but I think mine matured a bit quicker since it was vegging for ages and had lots of pre-pistils.

I'm mainly just waiting fort the buds become more dense.

Dried the soil for my clones so gonna water today with water plus hydrogen peroxide as suggested by Shed, see if they stop dying on me...

Bought a seedling LED propagator from RoyalQueenSeeds and germinated a white widow seed using the paper towel method. Seedling shot growth and so decided to transplant to a larger cup (w/ drainage holes) on day 6.

Unsure if it’s transplant shock but initially thought I was under watering since there wasn’t any runoff from the drainage holes so added more day after transplanting.

edit: using natural sunlight until I get a chance to set up my tent today (temp 24C, RH=50% - likely conditions are the problem)
i found when i buy a propergator its dont quiet seal round the edges so u dnt get high enough humidity so i tape mine up also u said u got a 450 watt led is that what its advertised as because they bullshit so much u need to actually look at the power draw i brought a 600w led but really it was only drawing 150 watts so jus be carefull plus they dnt really kick any heat out which is gd but somtimes ur temps are to low so keep an eye on that also keep eye on your nite time temps :yummy: im in uk my self and this time of yr is cold ive got a 2000watt heater which i have come on when my lights go off so my temps are 20c oh and make sure u check temps of your water when feeding as they dnt like stright out the tap bit cold i usally add couple ltr of warm water to my cold so its right but somtimes brings ppm up a lil not much tho anyway gd look mate keep posting

Did you let RQS know about their beans failing to crack?
(I got three NLAutos from RQS but hanging off as I try and organize grow space more for photoperiod but if they fail, i'll for sure be at them... !)

Not sure what the general concensus is but assume a replacement pack should be offered as standard...?!?!
if u read the small print it actually says these seeds are for collection purpose not for germination and they take no responsabillity which is kinda clever but ive had some seeds take 5 days to crack and others that dnt thats why u should always buy multi and after ive got the strain i mother it then take cutting from that so i dnt really mess with seeds unless i want somthing new ive got 4 mothers at the min i jus keep them 2ft and bushy plus i help a few others out with clones so it always get a gd trim its weather u got a seperate space or not to keep them i jus think your taking a gamble when u use seeds and wont know untill its mature if its any gd so i do it once and then i know its female then every clone i take its gauranteed

The small print is probably a way to get around UK law.
It's not illegal to sell or own seeds in the UK but it does become illegal once you germinate them.

From a Dutch seedbank below

most expensive bird seed ever and yh that sounds bout right for collection purpose or untill the law changes but they still dnt offer refund for seeds that dnt germinate as they would say u didnt place in the right conditions to germinate and u couldnt prove other wise, my point was that when growing from seed your not 100% on what your getting so id never just pot some seeds and hope for the best and end up with males or bad genetics i always grow one first and when i know its female take cuttings and then flower to see what character it has and if the bud is dense, so far tahoe og kush is on top the nugs aint the biggest ive grown b4 but there the most dense if u want any then msg me il be happy to ship u a clone i make my own containers from a pop bottle with little built in led so it will reach u in gd condition fully rooted and ready to transplant into any medium :yummy:

This dude has no idea what he is doing. Going on holiday whilst leaving his crop unattended ‍♂ transplantation of auto crops & re-transplanted them outside. I'm honestly shocked that people spend good money before being fully competent in theory. I've been studying hydroponics for 2 weeks now & I'm not even close to buying my lighting, tent & other gear. I wouldn't even attempt to start growing until i had done excessive testing of my grow environment! Calibration is crucial before you start a grow. You didn't have patience with your crop or the ineptitude to plan a strategy & do test runs before starting your first grow.
i was growing hydro 20 yrs ago and made my own table had no ph pen and ppm and ec it was all done by reading the plants but times move and things are made easier or meant to be, i think sometimes all this tech jus makes things complicated for a new grower and u can plan all u like and check the calibration of your grow room but keep in mind when u do add plants and lighting all that will change again so somtimes u jus got to jump in and deal with it as it comes thats what makes a gd grower someone who can adapt and work out ways to deal with any issues because no grower is issue free :hookah:

I assume previous comments have been deleted.
Anyway..

i found when i buy a propergator its dont quiet seal round the edges so u dnt get high enough humidity so i tape mine up also u said u got a 450 watt led is that what its advertised as because they bullshit so much u need to actually look at the power draw i brought a 600w led but really it was only drawing 150 watts so jus be carefull plus they dnt really kick any heat out which is gd but somtimes ur temps are to low so keep an eye on that also keep eye on your nite time temps :yummy: im in uk my self and this time of yr is cold ive got a 2000watt heater which i have come on when my lights go off so my temps are 20c oh and make sure u check temps of your water when feeding as they dnt like stright out the tap bit cold i usally add couple ltr of warm water to my cold so its right but somtimes brings ppm up a lil not much tho anyway gd look mate keep posting

So I taped some of the sides when I used the propagator and have a hygrometer inside and that kept the humidity under control. Yep I read about the watts value but I wanted LEDs but also didn't want to spend too much. If I ever decide to expand my grow I'll probably buy a stronger one and use two lights.

Update: cut them down end of 8th week of flowering after 24hr lights ON and 48hr lights OFF, trimmed and bud washed using h202 1:4 and then water.

I've completely disinfected my grow room, equipment etc. with bleach, diluted bleach and diluted h202 (I refuse to allow pests to ruin my life i.e. next grow lol).

I had a message from from of the administrators chastising me and saying that they were deleting my post.

Neville Chamberlain would be proud.

I have drought stressed my plants as per Maritimer's Dr Caplan plan and will be ready to chop in around 2 weeks.
The quadlined stuff looks interesting too even though it was rough and ready.

Before the chop, I'll try some stuff that I saw Kidgrow posting from years back.
Half cutting the stem, going to 8/16 light and reduction of humidity.

I didn't think there was anything wrong with the posts especially since the whole chain was removed but fair enough.

Thanks guys, I've decided to do another test run with autos so currently germinating 3 Royals Cheese and 1 Royal Jack auto seeds, we'll see how that goes.

Update: trimmed buds dried a bit too much after the third day of drying as stems snapped (though not clean off) so put them in paper bags, RH didn't change much from 55% so moved them to jars pretty soon after. Added 62% boveda packs and regularly burping them when RH increases.

Update x2: had to chuck a clone away as I realised though fan leaves were growing, not much roots had. I'm still occasionally using a bit of diluted h202 when watering the others but we'll see, unfortunately I don't have the right set up or space for growing clones right now.

Oh you mean the conversation with that fool who called you inept? I can see why the mods took out the entire thing!

In terms of drying, it's best to never let the buds get below ~55% during the process, as it can prevent them from curing. It seems that the bacteria responsible for curing don't survive low humidity, and don't repopulate when the moisture returns.

It's better to jar them wetter and burp them down to 62% rather than the other way around when you can help it. I've been hit by a huge weather shift here and came home to find my buds at 43% once!

Yeah that one haha. Moving on...

I know from previous harvesting that I'm really forgetful when its comes to burping even when I leave timers on so thought it best to let it dry first but will try to be stricter next grow.
Out of curiosity, is there a big difference if the bud is dried too much at a low RH when using a mighty/ vaporiser instead of smoking (I know with smoking it produces a harsher smoke)?

Des, so before harvest you prefer to reduce the light gradually before chopping?

Thinking of also germinating a photoperiod from barneys farm - for every 3 rqs seed I germinate, 1 doesn't.
I've currently got
