British Green's 1st 420 Grow Journal

Well my journal may take a slightly different turn from my normal just let it grow routine . I'm going to be taking one too one tuition from la to train one of my girls in his chosen style . I'm also going to start a mother or two just to try my hand at cloning . I've been to the hydro shop and brought some canna professional coco for the mothers hopefully this will be ok for them . As I've never used dirt/soil before . Any help with coco would be great .

I'm loving coco mate, when you water it, make sure you get 20-25% run off to stop salt build up & that's it. What you feed is what it gets & I can't think of a bad thing to say about it :)
What nute range have you gone for? The Plant Magic stuff I'm using has been trouble free so if you haven't bought anything I'd recommend it. I'd also recommend you use a humic/fulvic acid supplement, I'm using Ancient Earth by AN, I got some Royal Black to try & it's nowhere near as good. I've also used PM granules, I didn't know what it was & just bought it on the shops recommendation. It turns out it's mycorrhizal fungi and has over 20 strains of beneficial micro-organisms. Looking at the roots of my last three, it's debatable if it worked.
Hope that's helped a bit :)

I haven't chosen a nutes range yet as I had no idea what to go for . So the plant magic stuff will be my nutes for the mum's . When you say a run off of 20%/25% do you mean if I'm top feeding and feed each plant a litre . I want about 250ml to run out at the bottom . Hopefully I'll get them in there pots tomorrow . Any ideas on pots . I'm tighter than a ducks backside .

For mothers I'd go with smartpots (fabric) they're nice & cheap & you won't suffer from them getting rootbound. The size of pot is dependent on how big you want the mothers to be. I use 5gal & I'd say they'd be big enough. I chose PM as it is a UK company & they make it to suit our water. They recommend a ph of 6.0 & their nutes need little to no ph adjustment. I top feed them 3ml/L Plant Magic coco (soft water) 2ml/L Ancient earth (or 4ml/L Royal Black) & 1.25ml/L of cal mag+ These measurements are what I use for under LED so they may need tweaking to suit your lights. As a guide, the 5gal pot will need around 7.5-8L of feedy water when your coco has been drunk dry & give you 1.5-2L run off. Using that feed routine I have never suffered any deficiencies & my plants look super healthy.

On thursday I think it was thursday I moved my girls into a dwc tub to bring them on a bit and let the roots develop some more . Nothing much has happened since i've re homed them . But over the next few days they should did there legs into the nutes/ water and get going . Two of them are pretty much going straight into the flowering room two others are going to be picked as short term mum's . So I can try my hand at cuttings . Once them two have become big enough for a few chops to come off and the chops have rooted then the mom's will be flowered off . But the most important one is the one la has kindly offered to walk me through one of his training techniques . With this plant I can only say I'll be following his lead so to speak . The plant that is left will be begged and flowered off at the same time as la's little monster but will only undergo my simple training style of small twisting and bending and skunny's soft topping .

so these are my girls and la has chosen the runt of the litter because of the structure and because she is the underdog .

I know it's not yours but you shown me the way so for me it's skunny 's technique . :):)I can't wait to start training my little grapefruit kush with the help of la and everyone else . The Jewish in me has come out and I've gotten a few free buckets that I will use to home my mom's . Do I drill just a few drain holes or do I make them look like a sieve .

I'm looking forward to your flux too mate, they're good fun to do. My advice would be ditch the buckets & get some fabric pots, they're cheaper than chips and the best thing since sliced bread :)

£4.50 for some cloth pots or free buckets that is the question and yeah honestly I'm tighter than a ducks . I'm skint skunny and I might have to go with my free buckets but I will definitely look at the cloth pots . I just might have to get them next time . As these mom's are just a bit of fun for me . I've not even made my mind up if I should go hydro with them or use the coco .

I've been busy this morning fitting a new air diffuser in my flowering room . On the air in side it comes through two 6inch carbon filters and then into the air diffuser. Hopefully this will evenly push the air around the room in different heights . And I've changed the peace of wood that I had as a light rail ( fire hazard ) to aluminium and joined all the reflectors into one big reflector .

Well I've not seen my girls since Monday of this week and today I'm banished from the house and it's girls only till two o'clock and then I'll be upstairs to see how they are . Fingers crossed they will be ok and have done some growing . I'll take some pictures and post them in a few hours . Hope we are all having a good weekend .
