Breaking Brix: Buck's DIYs

The owner of the boards I bought called today to let me know everything was shipped, and he threw in some extras. I asked what, but he said I'll be very happy. Now that's customer service, there's only few places that does that. No sending emails to China, waiting days for response. Wish more companies were like that.

This is the 1st and last time using rapid rooters. Dropped seeds, 12 hours later I have pecker gnats(fungus gnats). Wtf, they were crawling out of the sponges. Had a few from some fox farms soil year or so ago but nothing like today. I tossed them in garbage. Seems odd, they look and feel like sponges not soil based. Where did gnats come from?

The rapid rooters I have did the same thing.... if you look real close there are little fungus gnat maggots... they fuck with the seeds too... I stopped using them even though they are peat based.... I've stopped using them .... even after a plant that grows in them I've composted and then a year later sift the compost those rapid rooters are the only thing left in my compost. They do not break down. Kinda strange. Mine when into the garbage.

I use peat pellets now.. they are really peat based and are mostly broken down at harvest. I just tear off the little cover at transplant.

Thanks bob, I threw the rest of bag out too lol. 12 hrs after adding water I saw hundreds of them crawling around too. I use the jiffy pellets or a solo cup, just so much easier, don't have to worry about bugs.

Here's a few pics from yesterday, day 38.

Here's the unknown auto, after 12 days hanging

I finally got myself a set of scales. I figured 1/2 to maybe 1 oz. I was pleasantly surprised when scales read 38.6 grams. I wonder what I would have had if I didn't top it, I took the top 3 nodes off. I don't think I'll trim it up much either, took all the big leaves before washing. Wish I could give good smoke report for it, but sinus infection and allergies, can't smell or taste much. But the buzz is strong, I can't smoke it during the day, puts me too sleep lol. It's a great night time smoke. It lasts a long time, a good 3 or 4 hour stone.

Things should start picking up next weekend. All my parts should be in to start the new frame and light. I'm still trying to find a good controller, waiting for several places to email me back. Or I might just go ahead and get the chil controller and interface module. If I use theirs, I won't need to fuse the drivers. It's pricey but has a lot of safety features built in(thermal, short circuit and overload protection). The added safety is pretty nice along with gfci' and arc-fault breakers. I'll document and take many pics of build this time. Can't wait to use both hands on this build, last build I had full cast on my hand lol

Also made the switch to doc's kit, gonna see how plants do in real soil.

I dropped 8 beans, all came up.

Depends on how well you grow, some people are pulling 2.5g per watt ;)
I'm not talking about weight per watt, I'm saying plant for plant light for light is it simular, could you pull over a pound from 1 plant with the COBS

You could pull lb per plant from cobs easy. It all depends on how long you veg and training the plant. So far I can't tell any difference in growth between cobs and hps. Leds finish a little sooner it seems like, about a week.
With the amare 450 we pulled 14 oz with one plant. It is 6 cobs with some monos around them. I could see a lb easily with cobs.

LEDs may finish sooner but using docs kit they usually finish 1 - 2 weeks passed the breeder times so it might even out.
