Borealis Basin Autos - With Phobos

I think any roots that grow into the hydroton would be water roots. That setup is like ‘Swicking’, as I understand it (self-watering system). The roots did suck up the excess water. As long as there is air getting in there (it isn’t constant stagnant water), mold shouldn’t be an issue. You might see algae growth on the hydroton, if it’s exposed to light. But that’s not a big deal.

KickAss finally came down tonight.:rip:
A few days shy of three months.

Boy did she stretch, so much space between nodes.

The nodes may be widely spaced, but the main cola is Beautiful! Which main node does it start from?

The main cola starts on node eight.
I didn't count the the node at the very bottom.
Puny node.

The terpenes while trimming are very citrus and diesel.
With a burnt "something that I can't place" smell.

Also, this is a very dense plant. It is way heavier than it looks.
Very surprising, considering the pot size.
The common notion of pot size correlating to overall height does not apply.
Less than one gallon, and maybe 7-8 inches deep.

That’s pretty amazing - a plant/cola of that size from a <1 gallon pot! Will you be providing dry weight?

Citrus and diesel - yum! Sounds like a sativa-dom, but Kickass is indica-dom, isn’t it?

You consider the first node to be where the set of one-bladed leaves are grown out, right? Do you think these buds stayed small because of their distance from the light/shaded by the rest of the plant? That would be addressed with LST. So I would expect them to be more than puny in that case.

Dry weight will be coming, with a smoke report.

Honestly, I am not sure that it is KickAss-Kannabia.
GYO messed up a Girl Scout Cookie order last year.
Though it was from a previous purchase, I have zero faith in anything not in a breeder marked package.
I will pay extra for them.:;):

Yeah, the single leaf node is the first for my eyes. :geek:
Sometimes the nodes above are puny so I skip/cut those.
Lately I leave things to prevent any stresses, a no cutting policy if I can manage.

As far as using LST on that plant, it was just meant to occupy a small amount of extra space. :smokin:
For an extra jar of yield. :icon_cool
I chose KickAss from the inventory I had, due to its expected smaller size.:smokin2:

It is sooo dense though. Even the smaller nugs are rock hard.:yahoo:

Yeah, I wondered if my Auto Blueberry was really, and now I’m wondering about my Auto Jack Herer. I know that there are several phenotypes out there, but the leaves on my lady are so wide, it really looks like an Indica, instead of a Sativa-dom.

It’s funny that you have a new no-cutting policy. I was pretty much against defoliating on my last grow, but I have started removing the primary fan leaves on the Kryptonite to open things up and create more air flow. I also noticed that they turned dark green (high N again?), so I thought I would remove those leaves, which had all that N stored in them, to make the plant try to deplete the N in the soil.

I like that idea.
It is very well thought out.
That accomplishes many tasks in one swoop.

I am nervous about salt building up in the soil, with my new pot setup.
So I will do a heavy flush, once a week with them.

I really feel bad having to think like that.
I understand the guy at McDonald's mistakenly putting onions on my burger.
It's not unheard of to produce many popular dishes en mass, having them ready to go.

A seedbank doing it? Uh-uh.:rolleyes3:rollingeyes:
Trust gone. The breeder pack thing prevents dishonesty too.
Some breeders like Sweet Seeds, and Pyramid give away freebies with every 3/5 pack.
Point being, not everyone knows to expect them.
I ramble on, about paranoia. :trance:

Thanks Phobos! We’ll see how it works out. As a scientist, I can’t help myself from experimenting.

By heavy flush, do you mean 3x pot volume? That shouldn’t be necessary if you water to 10-20% runoff every time.

Yeah, I hear ya! My last order included loose seeds repacked in tiny (~10mm) zipper bags, with the variety hand-written with a sharpie. :icon_roll

Hey Phobos,

Thanks for the contest link. I confess that I haven't explored the whole site.

Please forgive my ignorance, but what is the bowl method?

It is a different style of really low stress training.
It is easier to refer to it as such.

InTheShed I think has some good documentation on this.:hugs:

It's really just like it sounds to keep everything even.
Coupled with topping, you end up with a really kickass grouping of buds in the end.

Today was epic food day for the CMXL twins.
Trainwreck and Bloody Skunk are basking. :battingeyelashes:

SAM_047511.JPG

After some thought, I will be giving veg nutrients to the twins for a bit.
Though they have started to flower, I want some more size. :geek:
It seems my last CMXL preferred the three gallon pot, over the 2 gallons.:hmmm:

On other journals, I have read of using veg nutrients into early flower to boost growth and overall yield.
Instead of switching when you see the first pistil blooms.
Also, I am still running the full 900w of my led. I may turn the veg off of the the 600w panel if the heat builds.
:cool::smokin::Hookah::riskybusiness::smokin:
Now I have to debate switching back to the three gallon pots.
:lot-o-toke::lot-o-toke::lot-o-toke::lot-o-toke:
I can only have 3 plants then, instead of 4.:scratchinghead:
Considering they will be occupying the same volume, I think I will settle for more colas vs fewer larger ones.

Wow - those Bloody Skunks are stacking nicely! Beautiful colors! :hippy::rasta::ganjamon::allgood:

Good thinking re providing veg nutes through the stretch. I'm putting a bit of N & K into the booster soil that went in the bottom of the pots for the roots to find about the beginning of stretch. I overdose the N a bit for Autos, but I water to a bit more runoff at the end of stretch (not quite a flush), and trim off the primary fan leaves, and there's no toxicity going into flowering. :passitleft:
