Boptang Fems Test Run

Your Welcome,

I should add that when using the mychorr plus, I used grocery store spring water. As per instructions the water must not have any chlorine.

Also I stopped using RO water due to what I percieved to be added issues. Since my local water supply uses chloramine, I switched to filtering through a large berkey water filter.

I was still hesitant to use it due to mixed reviews online, but so far no issues. I also purchased the filters to remove flouride and arsenic.

Today is turning out to be a good learning day ... :)

I am using tap water with GW mychorrizae and my other microlife right now ...

I read that the mychorrizae should come into contact with the roots within 30 minutes of being activated ... that was in a post somewhere here and not in an article I read ...

I asked about filters a while back ... and plan to use them if I start getting poor results with water directly from the tap.

So far ... no major issues.

OMG ... now it's the "7 Deady Strains" grow ... I can't keep up ... lmao

Awesome ... like I was saying in your "Magnificent 7" grow ... (hell yeah I'll be posting that over on your thread within the next few minutes) ... :)

Cool ... like a sandbox sand or coarser? Sand must have some interesting qualities.

Why sand? Were ya hitting the strong stuff? :) Or did you read about that somewhere?
The "Super Secret Se7en" grow? Yeah, sorry about that. It's name keeps changing.
It's a corse yellow building sand made from flint and it's 2mm-5mm in size lol. Sand is actually surprisingly interesting. Fine sand will be heavier and become more muddy looking when wet. This stuff allows for more space between the grains meaning more air. I decide do to use it because I didn't have any money for soil and I could get it easily for free. I read that it was a pretty bad idea to use straight sand but not impossible. I thought that the soil mixed in would act like a wicking sponge and give the sand better water retention. I still had to water often but it worked. This time I've added a bit more soil to try and get another day between waterings

Chlorine evaporates with standing and chlormamine can be eliminated with ascorbic acid pills (cheap vitamin C). Much less expensive than store bought water or an RO filter (not to mention the wasted water).

Didn't know about the pills, thanks.
Stopped using the RO, switched to a gravity fed filter system which I already purchased.
It "allegedly" removes the bad stuff but leaves the good. I have seen mixed results in online testimonials, but all agree the majority is removed.

Or you could collect rain water! Well in some states.....apparently other states find it a jailable 'offense' :thedoubletake: :hmmmm:

This is what I wish to do, but as a renter this is not doable just yet.

My tap water has chloromine and I water my plants with it. They don't seem to mind at all.

I remember discussing that with you guys a while back ... and I recall it was good for soil which was a surprise to me.

I have researched coco for the past few weeks and I now have a seedling in a 3 gallon pot ... and about two dozen clones in Rockwool ... so the coco thing is working out so far for me.

Due to being advised not to use chlorine or chloramine in living soils, I just don't want to take the risk.

Totally a good call on your part ... be cautious!

But during my discussions with @Emilya and @InTheShed, I found out clorine could be beneficial to soil ... let me find the quote ... here it is ...

Now, the water. Unless you are running an organic grow, or a hydro grow where you are tracking PPM, tap water complete with its chlorine is perfectly fine to feed a soil grow.. and actually the minerals in tap water can be beneficial to the plants, and even stave off the dreaded and very common magnesium deficiency that shows up so often when people use RO water. So all that using tap water first and then distilled water... totally unnecessary. You are overthinking this. Actually during a flush, since you are washing all of the nutes out of the soil, you don't even need to adjust the pH... there is nothing there but water, and the plant doesn't care what the pH is as long as it is within reasonable limits.... the ONLY reason we adjust pH is to activate chelated nutes in a synthetic grow.

So ... I am trying the tap water now ... but remaining cautious :)

Alright ... game on ... :)

Like I was saying ... in your "Seven Deadly Sins" grow (except Blue OG of course) ...

Hmmm ... interesting ... "It's a corse yellow building sand made from flint and it's 2mm-5mm in size lol." :)

About the sand ... I will definitely read about that. Soil n Sand ... and ... Soil n Perlite ... cool that it works!

Thanks for the education :)

Most store bought soils have a portion of sand mixed in already aswell. Im thinking of volcanic rock in an organic soil to help with aeration but also trace elements from the rock itself will be available especially if the roots are like burrowing into the little holes n shit lol.

I will try to alleviate your fears a little more... it takes swimming pool concentrations of chlorine to actually kill off all of the microbes.... tap water is not nearly as dangerous as we make it out to be. Actually, on the Realgrower's Recharge product it says right on the container that tap water is ok... it will not be able to kill off enough of the microbes to make a dent in the population.

Thanks for that @Emilya. I actually started rereading your current journal again because if coco doesn't fit my style ... I am definitely interested in going back to soil and your cost-effective organic approach.

I am pretty sure, that as growers, we don't need to spend hundreds of dollars on nutrients when we can get "nearly" the same results with TLO.

Here's my ladies today...

The BCP cross that is a 1 qt. pot, is not too happy. She had some wet feet, just starting to dry out now. Looks like she'll recover though. I expect to see fresh new growth within a day or two.

Hope everyone is having a blessed week!

Good thinking ... a scarf on the second one ... it's starting to get cool out :)
