Boo’s Perpetual Grow Journal

Yeah, bugs never survive sub 70º!
Uh, where do you live because I'm moving there :D

I like those little GE units. They're not the quietest but they'll cool down a questionable-insulated space in little time and there's no touchscreen/wifi/extras to break or irritate me. Plus: the knobs remind me of TV back in the day :D

@Carcass you mentioned the 4 plants vs. total amount of bud a person can legally have. When Michigan first went legal for 12, they had the law written we could only possess 10 oz? for rec (16oz with a medical card). Now it's 'you grow it, you keep it' (which with 12 plants legal makes me think the people writing the laws have never seen an outdoor cannabis plant).

If your one indoor plant is prolly gonna offer up a pound + (I'm wagering over two)...I'm so ready to see what you do outside.

Thanks Copperrein! I’ve been looking for a while and honestly, aside from my childhood, I’ve not had one in a house as an adult so... I was surprised that they make them so small! I will be thrilled if I can keep that little Playhouse at 80 degrees in the summer with the little unit. We shall see! :high-five:

LOL! Holy shit, a pound off one plant in a tent would be amazing! My biggest indoor grow was a little over 8 zips and that was my Zkittles Autoflower in January of this year. Chocodope auto has bigger buds than she did, but you never know. I’d be thrilled with 8 ozs but would also love to have a personal best on an auto.....but I am thinking maybe 7 zips from her, and I ain’t complaining! She is in the dark in the tent right now and will have a long, slow goodbye tomorrow. I’m kind of wishing I had bought some non-auto flowers from Victory seeds too....:hmmmm: it would be interesting to see how they fare in the wild of Virginia!:cheesygrinsmiley:

Last summer I think I did get 16 oz off of one of my Cinderella 99s. I’d have to go back and look. THIS summer I plan to grow some monsters using everything Ive learned here on this site. I need to get my shit together wrt Integrated Pest and fungus control so I start things off right and also order the stuff I need (not sure what I need yet!). OMG, I would love to have 4 gals in 7 gallon fabric pots just lounging around being fed and growing buds!

For now, I need to get the little gals in my Atreum sponsored grow going well or drop some new seeds. I also need to get the next grow - the WSE Girls Scout cookie - going. I’ve been thinking a lot about how to do that one since I’ve only been growing for a year now and although the Cindys were photos, I jumped thru my butt inside and outdoors to make all four of them live. This time is gonna be way more controlled, in the tent (with the extension on it), I have an AC unit(!), and I have some experience under my belt. We shall see.....

This is for you @InTheShed (think of the opening of the live version of Stevie Nicks singing Landslide...lol).
I‘m going to harvest my Chocodope auto tomorrow. She’s been a fantastic grow, no real issues (except those caused by yours truly!). She’s in a 3 gallon plastic pot. However, I didn’t give the pot (of Promix HP) a good watering when I prepped it for transplant......and it settled afterwards. So, my guesstimate is that she’s actually been grown in what looks to me like 2 gallons of soil. :nervous-guy: That’s my little secret leading into the harvest! I will take a pick once I don’t have to lift her skirt anymore. She still smells delicious. Kind of a sweet gasoline and pepper (Maybe a little cat piss too). I’m a weirdo. :laughtwo:

I wish I felt more comfortable as a grower to help others more....
That may come with time or it might not. Just because someone is a good carpenter or a good mechanic or even a good gardener, doesn’t mean they can be a good teacher. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Just keep doing what you’re doing. I enjoy your grow journals just the way they are.

Why 7 gallons? They make 100 gallon outdoor pots...just saying :battingeyelashes:
I like the 20-30 gallon range though because if I really have to move something by myself I can manage using an old toboggan with steel skids.
Good point! Last year I did use a big 10 gallon pot. My problem is moving them. I have been searching for a child’s plastic saucer sled or even a thin plastic toboggan to use for moving them but I’m not paying $30 for a stupid piece of plastic.....maybe the one you are using would work for me? I can’t imagine how much weed would come off of a 20-30 gallon plant - nor can I imagine how to trim it all! :laughtwo:

Holy crap the kid's pool I got to mix soil this year was $20...weren't they like $5 a while back? Is this what getting old is? Being constantly offended by inflation?

Mine is from the 90's from Land's End. We've used it for sledding once or twice but at speed it'll knock a small child 20' so I turned it into my weed sledge. Don't ever overlook Craigslist and thrift shops. Wheels can be pulled off strollers and other stuff for carts and barrows AND....they tend to have weird planting pots and utensils that can be repurposed in the garden.

Hey...shouldn't you be trimming?

LOL! I should be! I’m having my first cup of Joe and then off to the Playhouse.
Yes, you could get the pools and the saucer sleds, etc. for $5. It’s ridiculous what getting older makes you take a stand on. I do have a great little garden tractor with a heavy duty cart, but there’s no way I can lift a plant into the back of it (alone). We shall see what I figure out. Good thing this year is that it will be legal so I won’t feel so desperate to hide the biggies. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I love thrifting and also planting things in “unique” pots. I should look for pools and sleds again (after trimming of course). :ciao:

:rip: Chocodope! You were very good to me in 2021 so thank you for that. :cheesygrinsmiley:

The main colas were pretty big and solid.

This is what I was talking about last night. The soil level is about 3.5 inches lower than the top of the pot.

Well, that one is in the books! :high-five: Hope all are well. Happy hump day!

Holy cow that is an amazing harvest Boo...one long stack after another! :bravo:

I'm with Copperrein in terms of pot size outside. I'd go with at least a 10 gallon cloth. How far do they need to be moved? You could always just split a gallon milk jug four ways down the sides and put it on that. When you need to move it, grab one of the spokes you created.
Thanks Shed! It was one of the easiest so far. There is beauty in winter grows. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I don’t have any 10 gallon cloth bags, my biggest are 7 gallons and I have way too many! Plastic drags so much easier over the ground....maybe I’ll check into 10 gal cloth AND plastic. The milk jug idea is a very good one - thank you for that! I have a couple of those plastic sheets that you roll up and stick into leaf bags, that might work too.

Damn, that's a lot of pot!
Congrats on a sweet harvest, Boo- You really did an exceptional job on that one!
