Black African Magic

I've not grown them, but have read about others that do. Landrace sativa's seem to benefit from a bit shorter light periods as you suggest.
The first harvest had me concerned as I was as green as the plants. Top cola, all pistils turned brown and receded, but 4” below were large colas that still had white pistils…Knowing what I know now, they were green.

Thinking of going 11/13, wait, if pistils are still white after 2 weeks, 10/14, and so forth.

Sounds like a plan. Sativas are a different animal it seems. Did you ask the landrace thread? That's a good pool of knowledge to tap for your answer from some who know and have first hand experience.

Some times it helps to harvest in phases, especially depending on light penetration. Take the top 1/3, wait a week or two take the next, etc.

This is common in sativas indoors since they grow so tall and the light is tuned for the canopy top

you are a genius. i didn’t even think there could be a landrace thread 🤯

totally 👍🏻 my goal is section on this one.

you ever see issues with plants going into shock?

This one ? >

Cheers
I was trying to find it and could not, thank you 🙏

This one ? >

Thanks, @Chuckeye . :thanks:

I even search for the word "landrace" in a title and it didn't come up. Weird. I signed up to watch it from here.

No problem, I just typed "landrace" into the search box :yahoo:

I'm going to have to spend some time on that thread myself and see if 11 hours of light helps.

My last grow was Much Too Long ;)

Cheers, eh ?
Man, I am seriously tech cursed 😂

I read through several pages, lots of info in their.

The grow on these plants is long, I actually don’t know what the actual length should be. Definitely curious to see how dialing back the light will change things.

Where did the seeds come from ?

I found two sources of BAM, they both suggested 6 - 8 weeks of flower....

On my last grow I was a week and a half over the breeders estimate !

Cheers
Hello 👋

These seeds came from The Seed Fair

Nothing about their time line has proven correct, however, I do not believe anyone their had actually grown it.

First 2 plants were harvested at nearly 5 full months, and were still green. This plant has definitely grown faster…or at least I have thought…until now….realizing this plant is at 5 months now.

I am about to post a pic in this thread, check it out 🤙🏻

Progress pic.

Realizing today this plant is at 5 months.

I stopped counting nodes but it stopped producing nodes at like 25 or 26. There are 25 “main colas”, with another 10 or 12 just below the scrog net, then another 10 or 12 below that.

I am currently at 11/13 light, will do this for another 12 days then 10/14.

in the last hour of light I hang a mini evaporative cooler over the plants, hanging below the lights, programmed to run for 11 hours, cooling off the last hour of light, then shutting off 2 hours before lights on, simulating sunrise.

The nute burn is from april when someone else was watering my plants, in my opinion the plant looks phenomenal considering how bad the nute burn was.

Buds are insane. Last harvest was so much Limonene it was too much. I keep everything in air tight sealed glass, so time has toned that down to an enjoyable amount. This plant is different I believe due to these things: 1, not exposed to male Purple Diesel, did not experience light stress, did not experience under watering, cold and hot temps are correct which is probable by color change. in SIP, minus one case of nute burn, plant has had a much better environment and life. These buds are still Limonene forward, however, lots of pinene, lots of pepper, super herbal.

I am really excited as this round is proving more in line of the plant I read about…minus the half year life span 👀

Reason why you have not seen any new plants…I am experiencing extreme issues with germination. Nothing makes it, NOTHING. I am using a heating pad, seed tray with vent, I have thermometers reading in and under the tray, everything is around 85F, kept in the dark. I have out three plants in soil, none have sprouted 😖

Try turning down your temps.

In nature, seeds don't typically germinate in the heat of summer, but rather in more temperate times of spring. 70-75*F is where you'll probably find better luck.

Gotcha, I originally was having great luck i the 75 range, the everything stopped.

I read 80-90 F is what germination needs, assuming now that is wrong?

Growing a mature plant at those temps sure, but a seedling? That's not how nature does it.

I've fried seedlings in the past on heat mats turned up too much.

Have you dug out the seed after failure to see if it even germinated?

Maybe describe your process. There are lots of ways to be successful with it so you have to find what works for you, but there are tried and true approaches.

Historically:

Two plates, 4 paper towels, folded so it is two thick bottom and top, keep the towels damp but not puddled, place in cabinet above laundry machine where sunlight cannot get, close door. 72-75 degrees 24/7, 50-60% humidity. Other than that, I did not put much thought into it.

Never had an issue.

Then everything stopped.

I thought maybe the temperature changed, however I could not detect a change.

Currently I have a pad, germination trays, tried 70-95 F, out of 16 seeds now, only 4 have opened, two gave about 5 mm tap root, put in soil as did in past…nothing. The only other seeds that did anything opened, and that was it.

I am working on getting 75 now…will see what happens.

Different batch of seeds? Fresh ones? Or stored how?
Purchased from seed banks:

Zkittles
Tangerine Dream
Bay Dream

All from the same place. All mailed the same way, sealed in a small plastic bag, in bubble wrap, in padded envelope. Once I get them I put them in the back of a desk drawer.

Actually, then one that did sprout and grow which I forgot to mention, was a “Female” Zkittlez, which started producing bananas while under 18/6, so it wad an autoflower mail.

Thus far I have been assured it is me.

I decided to see what would happen if I germinate some other seeds…we will find out soon…
