So, let me get this correct, as I am a thick headed person...

I basically decarb an ounce of bud, shake, and some trim, grind it up, then throw it in a quart of everclear for a few weeks for the drops under the tongue and the juice for the gummies?

What ratio of budandtrim/alcohol are you using?

I have an ounce of shake sitting around that I would not smoke until I am really hard up.

Essentially, yes, that’s it. What you’re describing is called Green Dragon. What I try to do is QWET - a quick wash in ethanol. You can have the tincture done in one day and then stored. Also by doing a cold, quick wash, it comes out with less chlorophyll. Easy peasy.

I’m not using a ratio, i just fill with high proof grain alcohol to cover the material. I budget for using about 500ml in each run. I did mine in three washes though. Fill to cover, shake, strain, repeat. An ounce of shake should work great. I don’t really measure my plant material because I know I’m going to use it all for tincture.

Well oven is heating up and all the goodies are out-just burning one before I start.

It looks like he lets it go through a couple cold cycles in the fridge.

I am going to try a half oz to roughly half quart. Going to decarb in stove for 60m at 240-basically in a ball jar with some foil over the top. Seal, let cool in freezer, dump everclear on it, agitate, freezer. (should I grind after decarb?)

I assume through the washes, you return the material to the jar each time till the last?

Might blow through it tonight, or let it go a few days in the freezer for exposure....depends on if I want to try tonight or wait. Might be good for me to do it quickly, so it's not as strong, or just one overnight wash. I assume the longer the contact has with the brew or must it gets stronger?
 
I assume there is nothing that prevents me from trying a 1/4 or half ml of it while it sits on it's must in the freezer?
 
No reason not to try it from the jar. 1/2 ounce to a pint of everclear is plenty. You could get three or more washes with that much. A half ounce isn’t going to a lot of material for that much alcohol. You only want about a quarter of an inch above the plant material.

I evaporate a lot of the alcohol off to concentrate the tincture. For an ounce to an ounce and a half of plant, I will use a about 500 ml of alcohol and then evaporate it down to 100ml. That is also the size of the dropper bottles that I use for storage. Typically about a quarter or less of a dropper is my nightly dose.

OK, that helps me a lot.

Assuming my stuff was about 17% thc (who knows), I used 1.25c (maybe a few hun less), to 1/2 oz, did two washes over an hour and let sit on it most of the hour. Assuming 20% loss that comes out to about 35mg per tsp.

I dosed about 2ml earlier, felt a little more than a 5mg edible, but less than 10mg. Did another 1.5 at night. I would like to reduce by about a quarter, possibly less, where a half ml dose gives me about 20mg.

Guess I will buy a hot plate (I only have gas at the house), and just put it on under 140 in a graduated cyl and reduce.

I did smoke a lot less tonight. There are a few photos over in my thread.

Thanks for pointing to my thread above. To be honest it is almost identical to what BigBear is doing. In my opinion it creates the best tincture with a nice smooth taste. I think I usually do a two day process but have done a one day also.

White Widow all alone in the tent getting all the light. I harvested her two largest buds - total wet of the two was only 28g. I’m going to harvest her in stages and just keep her going until I have to shut down, I think.

Sounds like a smart idea.
 
Drying is dry. I’ve got two mason jars of Auto Duck, each with about an ounce of trimmed bud. I’ve got one mason jar with about 22 g of CBD Crack bud.

Had I saved everything for drying, it probably would have been right at 6oz (168g).

Since I don’t work that way this is what my harvest got me:

74g of bud
60 ml of tincture (2 fl oz)
3 1/2 cups of infused coconut oil.

That’s about 400 doses just with the tincture and oil. I rarely smoke bud, so that will last forever. I supply a couple of folks bud, but about just a few grams at a time.

I’ve got a tiny amount of White Widow dried, and I’ll add to that jar as I harvest more of the plant. I think I’ll probably get 14g off of that plant. She’s small.

I’m set for a while. I’ll be packing my stuff at some point and sharing it with some friends. Also get their input on what I should grow next.
